1. Close to Nothing *Finished*

Maisey-- the "weakling". The quiet one. The one everyone leaves out. The one no one understands. The one often called "loner" or "wimp". The one that does all that she can to understand others, but just can't. The one that finally meets the guy of her dreams, but there's no way he'll ever be into her.
Maisey... The one who has close to nothing to live for. But only one person can change that. But first, he'll have to notice her. Or maybe... she'll have to notice HIM.

18. Interviews and Identities

Maisey's POV

"Welcome, Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn, and Niall," the host shook each of their hands. "Pleasure to have you on the show!"

"Thanks for having us," Liam grinned, as the boys sat back on the large sofa.

"So, boys, how did touring the US go?" the host asked in an excited tone. I sat in the front row of the audience next to Eleanor, Perrie, and Dani.

"It was phenomenal," Niall threw his hands up, practically yelling.

"Amazing," Zayn added.

"Awesome," Harry said simply.

"It was a lot of fun!" Louis replied.

"How are the girls doing?" he asked next, glancing at the front row. "With Eleanor and Maisey pregnant, it must be crazy!"

"It's a lot, but my life would be so different without the craziness," Harry said slowly, smirking at me. I gave him a dimpled smile, putting a hand on my big belly.

"How much longer does she have left?"

"Any day now, actually," Harry said matter-of-factly, winking. "We're all really excited."

"We all were very touched at the name-reveal at your concert in Houston. Hazel is such a pretty name! How did you come up with it?"

"Well, we couldn't really agree on a name, so we tried to combine our names and it ended up being 'Haisey', but it just sounded kind of weird," he licked his lips. "So we made it Hazel."

"And Lillianne is your mums' names, correct?"

"Yep," Harry grinned as the audience 'awwd'.

After a few minutes of further questions, the show was over and we were preparing to leave. I was unusually sore that day, particularly in my lower region.

"Want to get a bite to eat?" Niall asked as we got onto the bus.

"Sounds good," Liam agreed, grasping Dani's waist.

As we drove, the guys and gals chattered about, laughing and bantering. I think Harry could tell something was wrong, because he kept a firm but comforting hand on my knee, rubbing softly. My whole body tingled as his hand ran farther up my thigh, almost making me moan with unexpectancy.

"Harry," I scolded, giggling a little. "Not now."

"I want you," he murmured into my ear, brushing a curl of my hair away from it.

"Be patient," I pecked him on the cheek, resting my head on his shoulder.

The restaurant was bustling about-- busy as ever. A waitress greeted us like it was her normal routine, but then stopped in her tracks when she recognized the guys.

"Oh. My. Kevin," she breathed, fanning her face. "No, Jimmy protested! Nandos! Larry! Agh!" Her whole face turned a deep shade of scarlet as she rambled on about different key One Direction sayings.

Here we go again...

I finally snapped her out of her fantasy, politely as possible asking for a table.

"A pregnant woman's gotta eat," I laughed, placing a hand on her shoulder. She quivered under my touch, eyes growing wide.

"Maisey Styles just touched me," she said blankly, stroking her shoulder.

"Er, I'm not married yet, love," I giggled.

"Not yet," Harry joined in, winking.

"Oh my god, is he going to propose? I think you should propose right here, right now. So that way I can witness it all," she took a deep breath. "Quit being so hot, Harry." She then approached him, placing a hand on his cheek. My face grew hot, and the hormones began acting up.

"Excuse me, I believe we asked for a table," I did my best to prevent her from touching my boyfriend.

"Damn, miss Sass," Louis snapped his fingers, nudging me playfully. The others laughed. I rolled my eyes, but couldn't hold back my smile.

"Er, yes, sorry," she blew through her lips, grabbing some menus and silverware. "Right this way."

She just stood there after we had taken our seats, staring intently at Harry. I had finally had enough.

"I'm sorry, love, but he's taken. I know you're a fan, and this is typical, but you need to calm the heck down," I stood abruptly, my face nearing hers. "And don't go off telling people that 'Maisey's such a jerk', because this is how any normal girl would react to another person flirting with their boyfriend. So please, do your job and have a nice day." I sat down in the booth, crossing my arms over my stomach.

I could see Harry staring at me in disbelief, but I stared straight ahead at the wall, not saying a word. My lip quivered and suddenly tears sprang from my eyes, rolling uncontrollably down my reddened cheeks.

"Curse these stupid hormones!" I cried, flinging my arms around Harry. He rubbed my back reassuringly, though I could feel his body rattling with laughter. I wiped my tears as I pulled away, frowning at him. "Why're you laughing?"

"You're just so..." he paused. "Cute."

"How is this cute?" I laughed a little through my tears.

"When you're protective of me," he kissed my nose. The others coughed uncomfortably in the background.

"They're doing it again," Louis whispered to Zayn.

"Doing what?" I cocked an eyebrow.

"Pretending we're not here and going off into your own world of Maisey and Harry," Louis explained, the others nodded in agreement.

"Ugh," I rolled my eyes, poking Lou. It was hard not to get lost in Harry's ominous green eyes and dreamy hair. I still find myself confused as to how he would've liked me...

A sharp pain began in my abdomen, causing me to wince. I tried to not make it obvious, but Harry had immediately noticed.

"You all-right?" he sat erect.

"Yeah," I pursed my lips, wincing again as the pains continued. "I'm sorry, just-- ouch."

"Maisey, how far along are you again?" he asked, concerned.

"Eight months yesterday,"

He smiled a little, putting a hand on my back, "I think little Hazel's ready."

"Don't be ridiculous," I chuckled, folding my arms, but wincing again. "Ouch..."

I had gotten the others' attention, and they were all looking nervously at me, except for Eleanor who practically trembled with excitement.

"It's happening!" she bursted out, tears of joy springing to her eyes. By now, the pains were increasing, and I was beginning to get lightheaded.

"No," I shook my head, doubling over as the pain became even more intense. "Okay, maybe." I couldn't help but laugh.

"Let's get you to the hospital," Harry took my hand, sliding out of the booth.

"But, what about your food!?" the waitress shouted, practically in tears.

"Yeah, what about the food?" Niall complained.

"Er, it'll have to wait," Liam said, grabbing my arm as I tripped in the commotion. Harry and Liam stood on either side of my, keeping me balanced as the pains panged at my insides.

"Just breath," Harry whispered as I whimpered a little. "I'm right here."

"Harry, I don't think we're going to have time to go to the hospital," I cried as he lifted me onto the bus. "This baby is coming now!" I wailed, grasping my stomach.

"Be strong, Maisey," he laid me down on one of the sofas, sitting at my head. "Just breath."

I squeezed his hand--  probably breaking a bone-- as we began to drive. The labor pains were unbearable. Harry slid his thighs under my head, stroking my cheek.

"Breath," he repeated, in an attempt to calm me down. Well. That didn't work.

"Harry!" I practically yelled, squeezing his hand even harder. "Oh my god."

"Well, I have this to look forward to," Eleanor mused, glancing down at her own belly.

"Trust me, it's nothing to look forward to," I said through gritted teeth.

The drive to the hospital felt endless, but once we arrived, they quickly got me onto a stretcher, and wheeled me down the hall to the labor unit. Harry refused to let me go, so they had to practically pry his hands off of mine.

"Your baby is in breech position," the nurse explained to me as we arrived in my hospital room. "But it's positioned so that it's going to be near impossible to deliver normally.  You're going to have to have a cesarean section."

"Surgery?" I breathed, my heart race picking up. The thought of them practically cutting my baby out of my stomach wasn't too appetizing to me. "Sorry, but no."

"There's no choice," she said calmly, laying a hand on mine. "You'll risk tearing if you deliver manually."

"Fine, but I don't think Harry's going to like this," I lay my head back on the pillow.

"We're going to put you under anesthesia, so just relax okay? It'll only be a slight pinch..." she carefully inserted a needle into my arm, pain springing to me instantly-- on top of the sharp pain in my abdomen. I almost instantly felt myself slipping. My vision grew blurry, voices became buffered, and the lights just seemed to grow brighter. The last thing I heard was a muffled 'Maisey!' as I saw a faint figure of my boyfriend burst through the door.

Then, everything went black.
