1. Close to Nothing *Finished*

Maisey-- the "weakling". The quiet one. The one everyone leaves out. The one no one understands. The one often called "loner" or "wimp". The one that does all that she can to understand others, but just can't. The one that finally meets the guy of her dreams, but there's no way he'll ever be into her.
Maisey... The one who has close to nothing to live for. But only one person can change that. But first, he'll have to notice her. Or maybe... she'll have to notice HIM.

4. Dirty Little Secrets

Harry's POV

I awoke to a sound-sleeping Maisey next to me. Her sides rose and fell with each breath she took, her lips  parted into a slight smile. Her eyes fluttered open, focusing in on me. I was turned on my side, facing her so that I could see her when she wakes up. As soon as her light eyes met mine, she smiled with her lips, a small dimple forming in her right cheek.

"Good morning, beautiful," I whispered. She closed her eyes again, groaning.

"School," she said through her groan. "Today."

"Forget school," I grinned cheekily. She opened her eyes again, staring at me blankly.

"We have a test in physics today,"

"We can make it up," I reassured her.

"Fine,"

I sat up in bed, making my way to the kitchen to start breakfast. As I began to griddle the bacon, I heard light footsteps approaching me. I turned to face the source, and came face-to-face with a messy-haired Maisey, the entire duvet wrapped around her small frame.

"Cold?" I asked with a chuckle.

She shook her head. Her eyes were puffy with tiredness and there were pillow imprints on her rosy cheeks, "Just smelled something good."

She laboredly sat on one of the bar stools set up next to the kitchen island. I couldn't help but laugh at her blank expression as she sat there.

"What're you laughing at?" she yawned.

"You're just so..."

"'So' what?" she questioned me.

"Cute," I replied. Her face flushed red, bashfully smiling at me. It was true. She was adorable in everything she said or did. She didn't reply to my complement, so I'm guessing the smile was supposed to be her thanking me. As I dished up some bacon and buttered toast, she hungrily wolfed it down.

"Dang," I widened my eyes with a snicker. "Hungry, much?"

"I forgot to eat last night,"

"Forgot?" I laughed. "How do you forget to eat?!"

"I don't know!" she laughed it off, rolling her eyes.

After eating and taking a shower, I met her back in the living room. She had taken a pair of my boxers and a white t-shirt. I was pleasantly surprised by it. The baggy boxers were rolled at the waist  so that they only reached about mid-thigh, and the shirt hung loosely on her small frame. She was laying on her back, listening to Stay by Rihanna on her phone. Her high voice was quietly singing some of the words, her eyes closed as she listened.

"I love this song," my voice scared her. Her eyes shot open, sitting up abruptly. I approached the couch, taking her hand in mine; for once noticing the size difference. I helped her to her feet, placing my hands on her waist. I began to sway to the music, hoping she'd follow along. She wrapped her frail arms around my neck, moving with me. And we danced-- for a good ten minutes to different songs on her phone.

When a fast song would come on, we'd quicken our swaying, adding in a twirl here or there. She giggled uncontrollably when I lifted her above me head at the climax of a dramatic song. After the phone had finally run out of songs to play, we just stood there-- arms still around eachother. Her eyes locked in on mine, then dropped to my lips. For once I could see that she wanted me, too. She wanted to be with me, she just didn't want to admit it. I pulled her body into mine, brushing my lips against hers.

She sighed against me as I left a trail of kisses up her squared jawline, rolling her head back. My hands dropped to rest on her bum, pulling her abdomen against mine. Stay down. I silently warned myself. It was hopeless... Shit. She pulled away for a second, laughing when she felt it.

"Someone's happy," she chuckled, glancing down nervously.

"It's hard not to be when I'm around you,"

She blushed, biting her lip, "I could say the same."

"So why don't you?"

"Because there's a better way to say it,"

"I'm all ears," I grinned, beginning to rock her side to side again. She leaned into me, tilting her chin up to my ear, her lips brushing against it.

"I think I might love you a little," she whispered, her warm breath giving me goosebumps.

"Hm," I frowned.

"What's wrong?"

"Well, I-I wish I could say the same," I said solemnly.

"So why don't you?" she mimicked with an expectant smile.

I tilted my chin down so my hushed voice could reach her ear.

"Because there's a better way to say it," I whispered.

"Say it," she pleaded, her voice quiet.

"I think I might love you... a lot," my raspy voice was so quiet, I could hardly hear myself. "Will you go out with me, Maisey?"

She raised her eyes to mine, tears welling up in them. I didn't expect her to cry when I asked her-- because most girls usually don't... But I thought it was cute. She pursed her lips in thought, which made me nervous. I was almost sure that she felt the same for me as I did for her. How could she even ponder her answer?

"I wish," she finally said, her voice cracking through the tears. "But it's not safe. For either of us."

"What do you mean?"

"Elizabeth will ruin us," she began to cry a little harder. "Well, she'll ruin me more than she already has. She likes you, so there's no saying what she could do."

"She doesn't have to know..." I replied.
"She'll find out... One way or another."

"We just won't tell anyone," I whispered, cupping her chin with my index finger, lifting it so that I could see into her eyes. "It'll be our dirty little secret."

She closed her eyes, murmuring something I couldn't comprehend. A small smile crept to her lips, the dimple in her cheek revealing itself. I came to realize that I could tell if she was truly happy when her dimple showed itself.

"Yes," she gave me her final answer. "Yes, a million times yes." She began to laugh. I grasped her waist, turning her back to me; pulling her into my chest. I rested my chin on the top of her head, taking in her smell. I had finally made her mine.
