2. The Soldier Who Had No Name

One damp day in No Man’s Land,

A soldier failed to follow his band,

Of small fighters young and old,

Now it is time for his tale to be told.

He had no name,

To hide the shame of being sent away.

Where in the world did he go? You ask,

At the moment I cannot say…

He stayed behind to protect his own,

Right to the core, his flesh and bone.

But his superior did not think it was right,

And shot him dead that very night.

That soldier shot in the dead of night,

No more did anyone see the light,

His hands together they were bind,

That soldier in heaven one day you will find.

That day no soldier stepped out of line,

Until the toll of war took it’s time.

They through down their guns as they began to tire,

After their superior turned into a liar.
