Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

41. Chapter 41

Derek and I sit in his car eating ice cream and talking about all sorts of crazy things. "Derek I still can't understand how you can eat a strawberry ice cream with gummy bears, M&M's and skittles." I look at his ice cream bowl and turn away in disgust. "Hey, don't hate on the Ice Gummy maSkittles." I giggle. "Ice Gummy maSkittles? Really Derek?" He nods and takes another bite. "Here, just try some." He swipes up another spoonful of his ice cream and tries to give it to me. "Uh, no thanks. I think I'll stick to my chocolate ice cream thank you." He rolls his eyes. "Emma come on. Just try it. I promise you'll like it." I huff and open my mouth. He moves his spoon toward me, but instead of putting it in my mouth, he puts some ice cream on the side of my mouth. I gasp. It was so cold! "Derek!" He laughs with no regret. Grabbing my own spoon, I swipe up a spoonful and put it on the tip of nose. "Ha!" This time we're both laughing. I wipe off some of the ice cream on the side of my mouth with my finger. "Here." He passes me a napkin and then begins wiping off his nose with another. He puts his bowl down and leans over to kiss me. "Mmm, you taste like chocolate." I laugh and give him a quick peck on the lips. "And you taste like Ice Gummy maSkittles which actually tastes kind of good." He smiles a half smile. "I told you." He loops his fingers through mine and lifts my hand up to his lips. "You make me so happy Emma. I know before I changed I was a complete jerk to you. I thought I was being cool. But now I realize that it wasn't. I was just being a complete ass to you. I want you to know I'm sorry." He plants a soft, warm kiss to my knuckles. "Derek, I forgive you. Everything is in the past." My voice was barely audible. "At first I didn't want to become what I am. But.. I'm actually glad I did. It gave me a chance. It lead me to you." He kisses my nose. "Who knew this little bookworm of mine would be so damn amazing?" My cheeks flush red. Amazing..? No. I wasn't very special. To me you are, Emma. Somehow I knew he was telling the truth. I lean back into my seat. "I want to know more about you." He puts his dirty napkin into his bowl. "What else do you want to know?" I try to think.  "Hmm.. What's your full name?" He rolls his eyes. "Derek Anthony Blade. What about you?" "Emma Rose Davis," I smile proudly. "Emma Rose? I love that." I laugh. "Not as much as I love Derek Anthony." "Anything else you'd like to know my dear Emma..?" I think even harder. "Favorite hobby?" He fixes his hair in the rear view mirror. "I'm not sure. It's hard to choose between doing my hair or kissing Emma. But if I had to choose one, I'd definitely my hair." I hit him in the arm playfully. "Ow! Come on, Em. You know I was just kidding with you. I love kissing Emma." I roll my eyes. "You're such a cheese ball Derek." He smirks. "Aw come on, Emma. I'm being serious!" Derek looks at the time. "We need to go. We have studying to do."
