Imprinted

Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

36. Chapter 36

Derek swiftly transforms back before me and covers my mouth with his hand. "Shhh! Emma! Do you want the whole neighborhood to hear you?" I stop my screaming and pull away from him and stand. "You're lucky my parents aren't home, Emma." "Wha.. what are you?!" "I told you, Emma. I'm a werewolf." He attempts to hold me but I back up. "Don't touch me!," I snap. I saw the hurt look in his tawny-colored eyes. "Emma please don't do this to me.. You know I'd never hurt you.." And he was right. Deep down, I knew he wouldn't ever do anything to intentionally hurt me. "Y-you promise..?" He nods. "Never will I hurt you. I'll explain everything to you, just.. don't go. Please. Don't turn away from me. He grabs my hand gently and leads me back to the couch. He sits down first and then pulls me onto his lap. I freeze. Relax Em, he won't hurt you.. "What do you want to know first..?" "Everything! But to start, how are you a.. werewolf?" He smiles. "I was born a werewolf, Emma. It's in my genes, bred into me. It's not something I can ignore or change." "Oh.." My voice was barely audible. I had no idea any of this even existed. "Emma? You know that voice you've been hearing lately..? It's me." I gasp. "This whole time.. It's been you I've been hearing..? So I wasn't going crazy?" He chuckles. "No Emma, you weren't going crazy. Usually the telepathic bond only happens when a werewolf and his mate have bonded. But every once in a while, it happens before they bond. Meaning that we're a true pair. You were meant for me Emma." I glance down and my cheeks flush scarlet. I was meant for Derek..? Yes you are. My perfect match. I look up at him and he's smiling. So you can hear everything I say in my head? His reply was instantOnly what you allow me. You can block me out of your head, and vice versa. "Wow, that's so cool Derek!" He nods yes and grins. "So what happens to you on a full moon..? Are your family werewolves  too?" "Yes, all of my family members are werewolves. I'm a full blood werewolf. On a full moon, we usually get angry and hyped up. To cool ourselves down, we go for runs in the woods behind my house. It's really exhausting." "So you run on every full moon..? That's all you can basically do to curve your hype?" His eyes sparkle. "Sex is another cooling mechanism for us, Emma." He smiles a devilish smile and I smack him playfully. "Alright, so running or having angry sex during full moons? Anything I'm missing here, Derek?" He smirks. "Just one thing." "And what's that?" He leans in close to my ear. "I look forward to sharing many full moons with you, Emma."
I gasp. "Derek!" He laughs. "Don't worry. As much as I'd love to, I'll wait until we're both older." I let go of the breath I'd been holding. "I have no intentions with you body Emma... yet." I gasp and look down trying to avoid him seeing my blush. "Derek, are you a.. you know..," I look around the room, avoiding his stare. "No Emma, I'm not." I look down at my knotted fingers in my lap. Unlike Derek, I was still a virgin.. 'I know Emma. And it's okay.' I look up at him, and this time speak aloud. "I thought you'd want someone more.. experienced in your life. Like Clare.." He grabs my chin. "Emma, I think you're perfect the way you are. You're not like Clare. You different. And I like that a lot. I have no interest in Clare like I used to. "What do you mean you don't have an interest in her anymore..? It wasn't that long ago that you two were an item." He sighs. "Emma, I Imprinted on you. That's why." "You did what? What's Imprinting exactly?" He grabs my hand and holds it. "Do you remember when I was gone from school the whole week..?" I nod. "Well, the reason why I was gone wasn't because I was sick with the flu. It was because I was changing. I've only been a werewolf for a few weeks now Emma." I was so confused. "But you said you were born a werewolf." "I was, but I wasn't. What I mean by that is I was born human, but with werewolf genes. Two months before a male turns seventeen, his genes kick in and turn him into a werewolf. Usually during that time, he stays behind closed doors. Whenever a werewolf is going through changes, anything could happen because they're just now adapting to it." "Do female werwolves exist?" I smile. There's gotta be something for the girls too!
"Yes, they do. But not until they are eighteen. The only way they can be transformed before eighteen is if they're bitten. And they don't phase like males do, they just have a lot of abilities. Anyway, that's not the point. When werewolves find their true mate, they imprint on them. Imprinting is when a werewolf would do anything for the one he has imprinted on. He'd do anything to protect her.." His eyes bore into my own. "When he imprints on her.. he's fallen in love with her.." It was barely a whisper on his lips. Reaching up, he grabs my head and pulls me down to his lips. Oh.. His lips are soft and warm against mine, and I kiss him with an equal fervor. He was so perfect.. A thought hits me and I pull back. "What's wrong?," he asks. I shake my head. "The only reason you're in love with me is because of your transformation.. because you imprinted.. It isn't you that actually had feelings for me.." I make an attempt to get off of his lap but fail when he grabs my waist and holds me still. "No, don't go Emma. That's not true at all. My imprinting changed my world. It changed the way I thought about things.. girls.. you.. Before the week I was gone, you were Emma Davis, the girl that was quiet and weird and could never pull her head out of a book. And then after, I imprinted on you instantly. You became my everything, Em. I fell really hard for you. Everything about you was flawless. My transformation made my view of the world different." Hot tears trickle down my cheek. "Oh Emma. Please don't cry. I'm sorry." He swipes his thumbs across both of my cheeks and kisses me gently and pulls back. "Promise me you'll always be with me. Through everything." His lips find mine again, and I take in his heated kiss. "I promise." My voice was a soft whisper against his lips.
