Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

33. Chapter 33

I attempt opening my eyes, but they're glued shut. Barely opening them, I see blurred figures around me. "She'll be just fine. She went into diabetic shock due to her blood sugar being too low. If this happens again, just give her a glass of orange juice or some chips. Giving her something with sugar in it will regulate it." "So she's okay overall..?" Derek.. his sweet voice was so soothing to my ears. "Yes, she's perfectly fine. But be prepared in the future. Next time, make sure she has some sort of snack with her. Give her a little more time to rest up and then you guys can be free to leave." Thank you so much Dr. Oswald." The two figures shake hands. Dr. Oswald? He had been my doctor for years. One blurred figure leaves the room, the other staying where he was by the bed. I open my eyes fully and look around. Hospital bed.. "Derek..?" My voice was barely a whisper and raspy from sleep. He pulls up a chair next to the bed and sits down in it, grasping my hand gently. "Emma. You scared the living hell out of me. Why wouldn't you tell me you had diabetes?" His face is covered with worry. "I.. I don't know. I didn't feel like it needed to be brought up or anything." He sighs and brushes his thumb over the back of my hand lightly. "I was so scared Emma. So scared that I would lose you.." He looks down at the floor. Raising up I slide off the bed and climb into his lap, grabbing his face between my hands. "Derek, I'm sorry. I know I should've told you. But I'm alive. I'm here and I'm perfectly fine." I lean down and kiss his lips, grasping his hair gently between my fingers and twisting. His arms curl around my waist, pulling me flush against his warm body. Oh my.. This was heaven. The warmth of his breath.. The softness of his lips against mine.. it was perfect. He pulls back all too soon and I whimper, not wanting to end what I had started. "Your parents are coming. Get back into bed." I oblige willingly, and do as I'm told. Derek gets up, putting the chair where it originally had been. No sooner, both my mom and dad open the door and enter the room. "Oh my goodness, Emma!" My mother dashes toward me and hugs me tight. I look over her shoulder and find my dad staring down Derek. My mom turns and does the same. "Hello Mr. and Mrs. Davis. It's a pleasure to finally meet you." They say nothing. "Um.. Mom, Dad, this is my friend Derek. He's the one that saved me. I was tutoring him and then I fainted. He brought me here." My mom goes to shake Derek's hand. "Thank you so much for saving my daughter. You don't know how much we appreciate it." "No need to thank me," Derek grins. My dad still hasn't said a word. He looked.. pissed. Way pissed. Derek finally sees this. "Um.. I'll give you guys your privacy. It was great meeting you both. I'll see you around Emma." He picks up his jacket and leaves the room. What? No. I didn't want him to go. Not yet.. It took every ounce of control in my body to not get up, run after him and jump into his arms, kissing him. When the door clicks shut, my dad speaks. "Emma, who was that?" "He's just a friend from school. "He needed help with one of his classes." "And he was in here alone with you?," his voice raises. "Daddy, nothing happened. We're in a hospital for goodness sake. He was checking up on me. That's all." My mom chimes in. "Look, we all need to relax. Especially you." She frowns at my father. "Emma is perfectly fine. That's all that matters right now." My dad sighs, giving up his fight. "Let's go home."
