Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

29. Chapter 29: Derek

"Well, here you are Emma." Her first period of the day was History. I let go of her hand unwillingly. School always had its way of getting in the way of other things. I looked at the clock in the hallway and knew I should hurry. Should I ask her now? I was so unbelievably nervous about this.. What if she turned away from me.. for good? Just get it over with. "Hey Em..?," I ask. Her green eyes bore into me as if they could see my soul. "Yeah?" Make up an excuse.. Make up and excuse.. "I.. need help with my math. Could you tutor me tonight?" She smiles gently. "Of course." I grin. "Is after school at my house okay? We have snacks and everything." She nods. "Oh, sure. That's fine." "Perfect." The bell rings loudly and I cringe. It was so loud now because my hearing had became more advanced. A wave of concern passes Emma's face and she grabs my arm gently. The contact from her touching me sends a wave of warmth over my body. I looked at her face. She felt it too.. "Are you okay, Derek..?" I blow the whole situation off. "Yeah, I'm fine." I wrap my arms around her waist and lean down to kiss her lips. "I'll see you later baby," I whisper close to her ear. I feel a shiver rake through her body. I let her go and she strolls into class and settles down in her seat. Glancing back at me, Emma smiles before facing the board again. I think I was finally growing on her. I smirk and turn on my heel, heading for my own class. The leer on my face dissipates. Would everything go as planned tonight..? The way I saw it in my head was that Emma would be scared at first, I'd explain everything, and then she'd relax. But what if she didn't do that? What if she ran away from me? Not once stopping to glance back? Don't ever fall for a human, my inner voice tells. But it was way too late. I had already fallen for my sweet little Emma. I'd fallen hard. You Imprinted you idiot.. If she doesn't except you for what you are then kidnap her.. take her away.. My inner voice and I continue to argue as I walk down the hallway. And take her where..? Somewhere where she can't escape.. I shake my head. No. I wouldn't do that to Emma. She was my mate.. I'd just have to make her understand. 'please understand..' I tell Emma. 'W-who's this..? Am I going crazy..?' I laughed at her reply. 'No, you're not. You're completely sane. And I'll explain later my love.' I stroll into home room. Ms. Allen was not the kind of lady you fooled with. She was at least 70 years old and seemed like she hated everyone..  especially me. "Ah, Derek. Why are you late to my class?" Damn she was a creepy old hag. "I wasn't fast enough. Sorry." She grunted her response. "While you were taking your time, we got a new seating arrangement. You sit right next to Clare." I freeze. Shit. Shit. Shit. I didn't want to sit by her. Ms. Allen disrupts my thoughts. "Well are you going to stand there all day or are you going to go sit down young man? Go sit." I oblige her order and sit next to Clare. "Hey baby, I missed you," she croons. She reaches for my jacket. I swipe her hands away. "Sorry but I'm taken." She huffs and faces the front. Why couldn't she just leave me alone once and for all? The clock seemed to tick slowly. But finally the bell rang for the next period. Yes. I'd finally get to see Emma. I throw my books into my backpack and get up to leave. Right outside the hallway, someone behind me grabs my arm. I quickly snap around. Clare smiles up at me innocently. Ugh.. what did she want now..? "Clare, what do you wan-." She grabs my shirt and pulls me down, crushing her lips to my own. What the hell? I try pushing her away without hurting her but it doesn't work. Her grip on my shirt was too right. I am finally able to tear away from her. "Clare, what the-." Someone next to us coughs. Emma is standing there, her eyes filled with tears. All I can do is just watch her. Watch the hurt that takes over her face. No. No. Please. She turns and starts walking down the hall with her head down and not another word said. "Emma! Wait!" I couldn't see which hall she'd taken because of the frenzy of students in the hall. I glare back at Clare. "You did that on fucking purpose!" All she does is shrug her shoulders and stroll away, an evil smile spread across her face.
