Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

28. Chapter 28: Derek

It has been only.. I stop and glance at my watch. It had been only four hours since I had seen Emma and I was already missing her like crazy. I shake my head. Damn imprinting hormones. Everyone else was already entering school but I stood outside and waited. 'Hurry up Emma' I sent her through our connection. I immediately felt her fear and grinned slightly. We were going to have to talk about this soon.. maybe tonight. Today was Friday. It would give her time to think over the weekend about everything. I just hoped she wouldn't be afraid of me after I admitted this to her..
"You have your lunch with you, right Emma?" It was the same question my mother asked me every time she dropped me off at school in the morning. I sigh. "Yes, mom. Of course I brought it." Something people didn't know about me was that I was diabetic. Having my lunch with me was something that I needed. "And you checked your blood sugar this morning..?," she asked. I groan. "Yes mom! I'm not a little kid anymore. I know my responsibilities." "I know sweetie. I just want to make sure." We finally pull up in front of Brentwood. Looking out my window, I see Derek sitting on the bench. His eyes meet my own and he smiles warmly. "Who's that dear?" My cheeks turn red. I wasn't exactly ready to tell my mom that guy that was sitting over there was my boyfriend. "Um.. He's just a friend." I quickly open the car door and hop out, avoiding anymore of her ongoing questions. "Bye mom!" I shut the cardoor. Behind me, she rolls down the window and calls, "Have a good day sweetie!" before driving off. I gasp. Dammit mom! Derek stands up and meets me half way. "Hey cutie," he says before covering my lips with his own. Derek's arms wrap around my waist and I sigh against his warm lips. I could get used to this. "Uhhum," someone coughed behind us. Derek and I quickly broke away from each other, facing the unexpected visitor. There Clare stood, in the skimpiest top and a matching skirt I'd ever seen in my life. "PDA at school isn't allowed." Derek snorted. "What are you, the new assistant principal? And you know the school dress code requires you to actually wear clothes right?" A smirk took over his face. Clare looked down at what she was wearing. "I am wearing clothes you moron!" I smile and Derek chuckles. "I beg to differ." "UGH!," Clare growls and storms past us into Brentwood. Derek's fingers loop through mine and he plants a kiss to my forehead. "Come on. I'll walk you to your first period."
