Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

26. Chapter 26: Emma

I awoke wrapped in a cocoon of warmth. I sigh and snuggle closer to my source of heat. My flutter open. What time was it? I glance over at my clock. 2:07. What time had I fallen asleep? Something outside booms and I jump, causing me to almost fall to the floor in a heap. Strong hands grasp my waist and I yelp. "Shh. It's just a storm Emma." Derek.. I feel my entire body relax. Reaching over, I turn on my lamp sitting on the bedside table. Another boom hits, and I snuggle closer to Derek, my head buried in his chest. He chuckles lightly. "Afraid of a little thunder?," he teases. I raise my hand and smack him playfully on his chest. "Ouch! That kinda hurts, babe." Babe. He called me babe. I smile This was all so new to me. I had never actually had a boyfriend before! "No, I'm not scared." The grin on my face slowly dissipates. "Derek.." I look down at my knotted fingers. Reaching over, he envelopes my hands in his. His hands are so warm for some reason. "What is it?" I glance up, and our eyes meet - his brown into my green. "Why me..?," I whisper. He sighs. "Why not you?" "Derek, just a week ago you hated everything about me." He frowns. "Emma, I never hated you. Yeah, I know, I was a complete asshole to you. But now.. I don't know. I guess now I realize that I really do have feelings for you." Feelings for me..? He has feelings for me? Was I dreaming? Leaning down he kisses me gently. He pulls back and smirks. "Your lips are very soft to kiss." I pull the covers up over my face to disguise the blush that took over my face. "Hey, don't hide," he laughs. He pulls the covers back and lands another quick kiss on my lips. He raises up and climbs out of bed. "I need to go. We have school tomorrow." My smile dissipates. "Don't pout. I'll see you tomorrow." He kisses me lightly on my forehead before climbing out the window. I sigh and turn to click off my lamp. I just hoped he wasn't up to something..
