Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

25. Chapter 25: Emma

I sit in my bedroom trying to finish my homework, but I was so distracted. I kept thinking about how Derek had kissed me in the hallway. What exactly were we? That was something I needed to figure out quickly. My mind said turn away, but I couldn't force myself to do it. I was practically putty in Derek's hands. I hear a tap on my window and jerk up. Another tap follows. Standing up, I make my way to my window and open it. Down below, is Derek. I gasp. Derek, what.." "Shh," he hushes me and smiles. He climbs up on the tree that reaches my window. Moving over, I let him into my bedroom and shut the window closed behind him. "Derek, what are you doing here?," I whisper. "I missed you," he smiles. My cheeks flush scarlet red. I sigh. "There's something we need to talk about." He nods. "Of course, anything. You're adorable in those pajamas," he smirks. I look down and my cheeks flush again. I was wearing monkey pajama bottoms and a matching top. He grabs a ringlet of my brown hair and twists it around his finger. "Well.. um..," I couldn't think while he was doing that. I back up. Derek frowns. "Emma what is it?" Alright, Em. It was now or never.  "What are we?," I ask shakily. "What do you mean?," he tilts his head to the side. "Us. You never paid attention to me until now.. What is our relationship?" He smiles. "You're my girlfriend, of course. I mean, that is if you want to be." What? Girlfriend!
"Your.. g-girlfriend?" "Ha, yeah." "But what about Clare..?" "Over her. She's old news. Besides, she just likes sex." I look down, dumbfounded. "Oh.." I look down at my knotted fingers. Was I ready for all of this? Derek pulls my chin up and stares into my eyes. "Emma, will you be my girlfriend please?" He strokes his thumb over the side of my chin. "Um.." Just say yes already! "Yes..," I answer shakily. He smiles. "Can I kiss you?" "All the times you've kissed me and you ask me now..?," I whisper. He chuckles softly then presses his lips to mine. His hands travel to my waist, his arms wrapping around me and pulling me closer. Mmmm.. Was I allowed to feel this? This wonderful feeling felt so alien to me. I swiftly pull back. "What's wrong, Emma?," Derek asks. "I.. I've never kissed any guy before you.. Don't you want someone with more experience?," I whisper. This was so embarrassing to talk about. Especially to him. He grins. "I would've never guessed that. You seem like you have before." I blush. "Really?" A long strand of brown hair falls down around my face and Derek grabs it and tucks it behind my ear. "Yeah, really. Now if you don't mind, I'd like to get back to kissing you." Our lips find each other once again. He grabs my waist, pulling me flush against his body. I raise my arms and lock them around his neck, not breaking contact with his warm lips. This time he is the one to pull back. "Wha.." Derek cups his hand over my mouth. "Shh. Someone's coming." I gasp. Quickly, he drops to the floor and scoots under my bed. "Knock knock." Crap.. Dad. I quickly crawl on my bed and sit. "Um.. C-come in!," I stutter. The door flies open. "Hey dad." He's wearing his long blue and white robe. He adjusts his glasses higher onto his face. "Can I come in?," he asks. "Sure." Walking over to the bed, he sits down. I wince. "I think your mom and I are going to turn in early tonight. We both have had long days. Don't stay up too late tonight, alright?" "Yes daddy." He drops the envelope he'd been holding on the floor. "Oops," he says, bending down to grab it. No! I hastily fly to the floor and pick it up for him. I hand him the envelope. "Honey, are you okay?" "Um, yeah dad I'm fine. I just don't want you.. hurting yourself. Yeah." He chuckles. "Making fun of your old man now huh." He stands, pulling me up with him. "Goodnight, Emma. Don't stay up too late now." He kisses my forehead and exits my room, shutting the door closed behind him. I exhale. Getting back down on my knees, I peek under my bed at Derek. Bright brown eyes greet me warmly. "He's gone now. You can come out." A thought strikes me. How did Derek hear so well? "How.. did you hear him coming exactly?" He pulls himself out from under the bed. "I have excellent hearing for some reason," he smiles. "That was close Emma." "You're telling me."
