Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

20. Chapter 20: Emma

The next school day I put in the combination to unlock my locker. Opening it, I fish out the books I need for my next class. "Hey Emma." I twist around and come face to face with Derek. He is leaning against the locker beside mine wearing a only a black t-shirt and denim jeans. I can't help but stare at how his shirt stretched tightly over his masculine chest and arms. I shake my head, ridding myself of my daze. "Um, hello," I murmur. I was still nervous about finding out what he was up to. Part of me wanted to know and the other didn't. Either way I didn't want to get hurt. He smiles and wraps a strand of my long brunette hair around his finger. My cheeks begin to heat. "Can I walk you to class?," he asks. "T-to class?," I stutter. Why was he being so nice to me?! He lets go off my hair, and like a royal prince, he bows down in front of me. "It would be an honor." A grin spreads across his face. I giggle. I couldn't help myself. He was cute. "Uh, sure." "Good," he says and grabs my hand eagerly and we begin to walk down the hall, his fingers laced through my own. My mouth drops a tiny bit. He was holding my hand as if we were.. dating. No. There was no possible way a guy like him would want to date me. I was a loser unlike him. People in the hall begin to stare at us. A received a multiple number of dirty looks from girls and even guys. Clare was talking to a group of girls and guys. She suddenly stops when she sees us walking together. "Ugh!!," she grunts and stomps down the hall. Riley and Courtney follow behind. I look up at Derek. He didn't really seem to pay attention to Clare's little outburst. He squeezes my hand playfully. We finally arrive to my Geography class. "Well here you are, Emma," Derek beams. "Yeah," I whisper. He leans in and gives me a quick peck on the lips. "Have a great class." Turning on his heel, he strolls away. I press my fingers to my lips and giggle. The bell finally rings and I turn to enter the class.
