Emma was just a normal, average 16 year old girl bullied by her schoolmates. Something she wished would just stop, but has no courage to stop it. Derek is a jock, the star basketball player of Brentwood High School. Derek knows what he'll soon become, but just doesn't know when. Werewolves have been in his family for generations, and he knows he won't be able to stop it. He knows about imprinting, and knows he's just not ready for it. When he comes back to realization, he imprints on someone faster than he'd predicted. Emma.

14. Chapter 14: Emma

Was Mrs. Porter serious? My partner was Derek? This lady had to be demented. Derek walks over and settles next to me. I sigh. Great.. six weeks of Derek. There was no way this partnership would work. Derek hated me. Maybe I could just tell him that I wanted to do the project by myself. "Hi," he whispers. "Um.. hello." I face Mrs. Porter quickly, avoiding anymore of Derek's "small talk." What was there to say to him? I didn't want to talk to him. I peek through my hair at Derek and catch him watching me. What. The. Heck. Why was he staring at me like I was a piece of meat? He leans over and whispers quietly, "You're very beautiful." My cheeks flush quickly but they soon discolor. I fell for this trick last time.. "I know what you're doing." "No really, Emma. I mean it this time. I know last time I was a jerk, but I never really noticed how pretty you are." I glance towards him. "You're being austere?" "Uh, yeah. Whatever that word means," he gives me a half smile and focuses back on Mrs. Porter. Me..? Pretty..? Did that really come out of Derek's mouth? I look down at my knotted fingers. No. He had to be up to something. I just needed to figure out what it was.
