A New Beginning

A young girl and her mother move away from their Canadian home to live with their new family. With a new step dad came new step siblings, but what Lauren didn't know was that her new step brother was Louis Tomlinson from One Direction. With this new discovery came new adventures with her, the boys and her best friend Clara. Read and find out what happens in the life of this small town Canadian girl making her new beginning in London, England.

1. And it begins..

My mom has a very colorful history of boyfriends, ranging from muscular men, to businessmen and miners. So when she came home saying she met the most amazing guy while visiting my aunty in England I could only imagine what he did for a living. Maybe he was an astronaut, or an exotic dancer, with her who knew. “Mom are you sure he’s the most amazing guy?” I asked her with a bit of worry in my voice. She looked at me with those motherly eyes, the same ones I saw when I looked in the mirror every morning and said “Lauren, I know I've screwed up plenty of times in the past but I’m really confident about this one, just trust me funny face.” Of course, she knew I wouldn't be able to argue with her when she called me funny face or when she would put me on the guilt train, typical mom thing to do. I looked at her with a smile on my face and eagerly said “So mom when do I get to meet this guy?” She looked at me and said “In 2 days!”

TWO DAYS! WAS SHE CRAZY? I have school and volleyball to worry about. I also have a job and social life that I couldn't possibly just walk away from to go and meet my mom’s new boy toy. She could obviously sense the hesitation and reassured me that she had talked to all my teachers and boss and they were okay with the trip. Apparently we were going to be gone for a little longer than just a little vacation because I was enrolled in online classes for my school. Great, not only do I have to spend time in a place I am completely new to, but I have to also keep up on my homework. Some “vacation” this was going to be. Trying to shake my mind of those thoughts I asked what this guy’s name is, his name is Mark.My mom told me that he has 5 kids one son who’s 20 his name is Louis, and 4 daughters, however only one daughter, Phoebe, lives with him, the others live with their mom.  New siblings too? Oh joy, I wasn’t sure how this was all going to work. I wasn’t used to having a younger sibling seeing how I have always been the baby.

Mom seemed a little too excited for me to meet Mark and his little family; I could tell because she pretty much took everything from my closet and threw it into my suitcase hangers and all. She grabbed every pair of lace underwear I owned and threw them in as well which I thought was a little awkward cause I didn’t really think that’s what I wanted to bring to meet my new potential step father. Looking at my suitcase gave me a headache, I hated packing. I shrugged my shoulders and threw my body onto my suitcase so I could close it. I wasn’t sure how long I was going to be gone for so I just sat in my room taking it all in. The One Direction posters scattered across my wall, Niall Horan’s face filled with red lip marks on most of them. I was about to leave Canada, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be coming back. The thought scared me; however I was ready for a new start.

My mom hates driving at night but she did it anyways and we got to the airport in record timing. A 5 hour drive ended up being more like a 3 and a half hour drive including stops. I walked through customs and saw all of the people waiting to go through behind me. Babies crying, couples holding hands and people wearing headphones who were obviously travelling alone. The security guard’s smile was reassuring, I told him where I was headed and he seemed quite into the reason I was headed there. He nodded to my mother and I and we were on our way. Customs took a little longer than anticipated and we made it just in time to catch our flight, I sat down in my seat and put in my earphones for my ipod. It’s not me, it’s not you there’s a reason...Liam Payne’s voice soothed my worry and I knew I was going to be alright. After all, my mom did seem happy and maybe Mark wasn’t going to be so bad. I guess I just had to wait and see for myself.
