13. Waves

Diolace looked up, the wall she was laying next to cracked, bent over and began to fall, and she looked up and screamed.

“Septimus! Septimus! Help me!” Septimus was quite far ahead, but he turned and began to run, and as he did, the boulders before they fell onto him, stopped. Diolace looked up and the boulders were suspended in the air above her head.

“What is this trickery?” shouted Septimus as he kneeled next to Diolace.

“The Gods are with us, they are among us!” Diolace whispered, intrigued. Septimus grabbed her wrist, and pulled her up.

“Come on!” he yelled. As soon as they were out of the way, the boulders and rocks fell. They were not just racing against time and rocks; they were now racing against the tidal wave of water that had been created by the falling boulders. Water can wait. Water always wins. As Goliath ran, he saw bodies, some crushed, others buried. Diolace glanced behind and saw a tidal wave that had risen taller then Brazeedas’s palace.

“May the Gods protect us, Poseidon must be doing this for his brother Zeus” she murmured. They kept running, and running, cities and lives fell around them. Goliath fixed his eyes forward, not turning back because he dare not. Septimus remembered growing up here, how Diolace fell in love with Brazeedas, how he and Goliath had tried to kill him. How Brazeedas banished him and sent him and his best mate to Sparta. Goliath would defeat Brazeedas. He was sure. Suddenly, he snapped out of his dreamscape as some seawater sprayed his back. The wave was right behind them. He grabbed Diolace down an alleyway and Goliath followed. Some of the wave darted down the alley, and they realised they were trapped.
