“Septimus! Septimus! Wake up! We are sitting ducks for whatever ghastly thing Brazeedas has got planned for us!,” Goliath splashed Septimus with seawater, “Hurry!”

“The wind must have been so strong”

“It was, I let the sail loose and we drifted on swiftly and quietly.”

Septimus turned and squinted, “Goliath? Get the oars and start paddling! We have to mover fast! My sister, my sister is over there! Now quickly! Diolace! Diolace?” They began to move quickly, gliding through the water and as they got closer they saw that Diolace’s eyes were tear stained, wide and frightened.

“Septimus! Goliath! You must leave Athens! Brazeedas has beset you a terrible fate! I now know why you both tried to poison him all those years ago!” Septimus ran to the edge of the boat and leaned over, only to see his sister’s hands tied up with rope.

“Not evil, effective” he said smugly.

“Diolace, why has Brazeedas tied you here? Who or what are you a sacrifice to?” Septimus had to know the answer, whereas Diolace turned to the balcony.

“She is a sacrifice to the Sea Serpent which is to come at noon.” Called Brazeedas.

“What?,” Goliath stepped away from the tiny sail and tuned in, “Sea Serpent?”

“What?!” exclaimed Diolace, “You wouldn’t dare! If that monster gets out of control the whole city shall be in ruin!”

“Diolace! I have to cut the rope! Goliath do you have a-“

“It is here! It comes! Sent by the Gods themselves!” Brazeedas screamed.   Goliath, Septimus and Diolace slowly turned and saw the wave’s part, a tail whipped and fin floated. Green scales came to the surface of the water and coiled to reveal a thick snout, gaping jaws and a long, thin blood red forked tongue…
