12. The Dying City

Goliath, Septimus and Diolace walked worriedly through the streets in fear that Brazeedas’s spies would spot them.

“All of these peasants don’t get a scrap of food, Brazeedas wont spare anything.” Diolace stared at the homeless as they hurried past the streets.

“Brazeedas needs to be taught some sort of whoa- Suddenly, the ground shook and lightening filled the sky.

“What is that?” Diolace stared worriedly at the sky.

“Lightening,” Septimus whispered, “Lightening!”

“Zeus is in rage! Brazeedas or someone must have angered him!” Goliath exclaimed as lightening struck the palace.

“Everything will crumble!”

“Run!” Diolace dived aside as a boulder fell where she was standing the three of them stared at each other in shock.

Goliath, Septimus and Diolace ran non-stop throughout the streets, laden with death and blood. Through the crumbling buildings and ash, they saw the palace to crumble. They saw a tiny figure standing on the roof.

“Curse you Zeus! When I am more powerful, I shall over throw you too!”

Brazeedas had climbed as quick as he could to the top of the disintegrating palace; ready to jump when it had nearly hit the bottom.

“Coward” Goliath muttered. Diolace narrowly missed a falling brick, as Septimus ducked behind a boulder. They all ran through the streets of Athens, as the buildings crumbled like dominoes. Diolace started to lag behind, and as the ground shook, she held onto a wall of tall building, which had rocks showering from above. She looked up, and saw a boulder coming, she jumped to her right, and it narrowly missed her, yet it caught the hem of her dress. She pulled at it but it was stuck. Goliath hadn’t noticed and dived out of the way of a jagged rock, only to be showered by smaller stones on the floor. Septimus ran ahead with his arms over his heads to avoid falling rocks. Goliath stumbled up and tried to catch up with Septimus, with Diolace still tugging at the hem of her dress, which after a short while ripped. She ran forward to catch up with Septimus and Goliath. The ground then shook so much that Diolace fell onto the floor; she covered her head with her arms as she saw what was coming next…
