Chapter Eight

“Mmmm, I don’t want to tell you anymore, I’m too scared.” He could hardly sit still, with the assistance of Harry I had cornered him into the living room, but he still wouldn’t budge, his lips were sealed so to speak.

“Please tell me Lou” I pleaded, Harry laughed at my failed attempt to pry the answers from him.

“Maybe if the two of you would take a step back each, so I can breathe” he complained, grabbing onto his throat.

We took a step back, and stared at him.

“We’re flying to Sydney to visit your family before you’re not allowed to fly anymore, we can cancel the trip if you’re not up for travelling, but I thought you might want to see them before the baby comes, I mean you haven’t seen them in a long time and you won’t be able to fly with a new born too long anyway, so I got us some seats on the same flight Tamy is taking back home” I squealed, oh yes Lila had been rubbing off on me, I can’t believe he did this for me! All this time I had been worried that something bad was going to happen, with the sneaking out and that phone call, aw he’s truly the sweetest guy ever! So I kissed him on his lips, to show him how happy he had just made me.

“So I get the house to myself for how long?” Harry asked a grin on his face because this meant he could be naked outside of his bedroom.

“A week, I know it’s not that long, but it’s still quite a bit of time, and we can still make it back here for your doctor’s appointments, and that interview on the Ellen show.” I had almost forgotten about the Ellen interview, I was so excited, I loved that show! I’d been on it a few times with Lila and some of the other cast members, but never alone, and never with Louis.

“I can’t believe you did that for me” I hugged him that night in bed, he was nice and warm and I could feel his heart beating in his chest, I loved listening to his heart beat, it was a reminder that he was human, and not the perfect man I always claim him too be, he’s not perfect, but he sure as hell is pretty close in my view.

“I love you Jay, I want to make you happy, I want to see your family, we’ll my family now” I liked the sound of that.

“But what about your family, don’t you want to see them too?” I asked him, suddenly upset; I didn’t want to be unfair on his family, because they deserved to see him too.

“They are coming over for my birthday, I paid for their trip as well” if he wasn’t extremely wealthy I would have probably gotten angry at him, not because I didn’t want to see his family, but because he was tossing alot of money around lately.

“They get to have an American Christmas then” I pointed out.

“Their very first one, with us, next year I was hoping we could take the baby over to England, maybe we can go to Australia for Christmas, then England over new years?” that plan sounded amazing, I loved England, it’s chilly, but I didn’t mind, the whole damn place was beautiful, and was filled with millions of people who sounded just like Lou.

“I’m so glad I didn’t lose you” he whispered, before drifting off to sleep, I listened to him snoring for a while, before I too went to dreamland.

Tamy took me shopping on her last day of America, she wanted to buy as many things she could, because Lou had paid for her to extend her luggage allowance, and she wanted to make sure she didn’t come back empty handed.

“You are going to freak when you see how mature Zac is now, he’s the total opposite of Justin when he was that age I tell you.” I remembered back to when I was 17 and still living at home, I wanted to strangle Justin back then he was the most horrible little cry baby I’d ever met, he made our family insane with all his anger issues, luckily he later got some help, so my parent’s lives are alot easier now.

“Is he still adorable?” I asked her, I hadn’t seen much of him since I’d moved over here, only the occasional skype session, which usually took place after he was in bed.

“Yeh, he still has his baby face, kinda like Harry did when the band first came out” I giggled remembering Harry Styles in the first few years of him fame, if you looked at him now, you’d see a complete change, he was adorable back then, but somehow between then and now he’d turned hot, and I mean super hot.

“Look at these dresses! I have to have them” she squealed, it appeared Lila had rubbed off on her too. I paid for all the dresses she wanted, because although she did have a pretty well paying job, I still have more money than her, and even if I didn’t I’d still buy her anything she wanted, to say thank-you for visiting me, so far since she’s came, I took her to universal studios, I showed her where I had worked even though there was hardly anyone there right now, because filming was delayed. I took her to the best shopping malls, the Hollywood walk of fame, and a whole lot of other tourist attractions that I knew she was dying to see while she was here, even if she never admitted it.

“So tomorrow, we board onto that plane, and you take me back to the tiny country huh”

“Yeah, I wish you could stay longer, it’s been amazing having you around, especially with all the drama’s oh by the way we don’t need to tell Mum and Dad about that do we?” I cringed at the thought of my parent’s butting into my relationship.

“Secret’s safe with me, until someone puts it on the internet” she smiled, making a joke about how my private life doesn’t always stay that way.

“I think strangely enough I am going to miss it here” she continued, staring around the mall, watching people go about their everyday lives.

“It will miss you too” I joked, wrapping my arm around her.

“Maybe I’ll come back someday, and I’ll write you a movie or something”

“I’d actually love that alot” I told her with full honesty, I could feel my emotions building up inside me, I begged myself not to cry, I didn’t want to embarrass her in public.

“Aw Jay, sweetie, don’t cry I love you sissy” she hugged me the best she could, trying to move around my child, It was one of the best hugs I’ve had in a while.

“You have your tickets?” Harry asked us, we all nodded, he looked kind of upset, like he didn’t want us to leave, right now we’re sitting down at the airport, waiting for our flight to Sydney, Harry wanted to see us off, which was really sweet of him.

“We’ve got everything Harry, that’s the third time you’ve asked since we’ve been sitting here” Louis pointed out; pulling Harry down to sit beside him, his hovering around us seemed to be bothering him.

“Sorry, just double checking” he quieted down, the four of us sat still for a little while, watching all the travellers with all their luggage, grabbing their boarding passes, and loading their bags up at the counters.

“Does anyone want food?” Tamy finally asked, breaking the awkward silence.

“I’ll go with you, what would you two like?” Louis offered, Harry and I told him our orders and the two off them rushed off, I watched them chat away, wondering what on earth they were happily chatting about this early in the morning for.

“It’ll be good going home” Harry said to me, I nodded in agreement.

“You’re going home for Christmas aren’t you?” I asked him, unsure as to whether I had heard correctly when Lou filled me in on the Christmas plans.

“Yeah, I finally ordered my ticket, so you’d better not have the baby without me; I want to be there to meet him or her as soon as they’ve been cleaned up” he grinned, thinking about meeting his niece or nephew.

“I’ll try my hardest, I’ll even sit with my legs crossed” I teased him; his laugh rang in my ears. Harry was going to make the best uncle I could tell.

When our flight was announced, we all hugged Harry goodbye and made our way over to where we were going to board the plan, Lou watched Harry until he could no longer see him, and so I gave him a big kiss on the cheek, which made him smile a bit.

“So how long does this flight go for again?” Tamy asked us.

“Too long” I told her, as we made our way to our seats, we were located in a row of three; I was on the end in case I needed to use the bathroom, and Lou was sitting in the middle of Tamy and I, which I’m sure she’d love.

The flight started out really boring, I flicked through all the channels on the television screen in front of my seat, nothing caught my attention, so I just settled on some random TV show to watch, Tamy was asleep, and Lou was reading the paper, I had no idea he was so interested in the news, I chuckled to myself thinking about how absurd it was.

“What are you laughing about?” he asked me, confusion on his beautiful face.

“Nothing, go back to your paper” I tried my hardest not to giggle.

He soon excused himself to go to the bathroom, my lack of sleep was slowly catching up with me, I shut my tired eyes in a desperate attempt to sleep, when I hear the piercing sound of a microphone being switched on.

“Sorry to interrupt your flight everybody, but my name is Louis Tomlinson, and I’m on my way to visit my pregnant girlfriend’s family, before our little one is born, she’s sitting right over there” he pointed me out to the crowd, I was so embarrassed, yet I was curious as to what he was doing up there?

“Ok well I’m going to sing a song that means alot to me, and I’m sure it means alot to her too, I hope you guys like it.” He whipped a guitar out from under a nearby chair. A nearby passenger held the mike for him so that he could sing.

“From the moment I met you, everything changed I knew I had to get you, whatever the pain, I had to take you and make you mine. I would walk through the desert; I would walk down the aisle I would swim all the oceans just to see you smile, whatever it takes is fine. So put your hands up, 'Cause it’s a stand up
I won’t be leaving ‘til I finish stealing every piece of your heart, every piece of your heart” he sang directly at me, the crowd awed and ah’d and gave a slight cheer as he finished his song, he could see me smiling, and took the mike back up to his lips.

“Jay, you’re my everything, we’ve had our struggles and our fights, but I know my life wouldn’t be complete without you. You’re having my baby, and I  know that’s not what you originally planned, to do this whole thing backwards, but I guess what I’m trying to say is Will you marry me?”

All I could do was nod my head, everyone was staring at me, I looked over to my sister who had a camera in her hand, she must have videoed the whole thing! That’s probably why Lou went off to grab our breakfast with her alone this morning.

I could feel my tears welling up in my eyes, they clouded my vision, my fiancé Louis Tomlinson, -I will never ever get sick of calling him that, until I get to call him my husband!- came over to me, took to one knee and presented the ring, it was massive, I had never seen such a large ring right in front of my face before, I looked into his eyes, they looked so bright, and full of excitement, he was shaking as he slid the ring onto my finger, but I was so happy I didn’t care, the love of my life just proposed to me on a plane to the other side of the world, so I was in a pretty fantastic mood!

“I love you” I whispered as he climbed back into his seat beside me, he held onto my newly ringed hand and examined it carefully.

“It suits you” he told me admiring his great taste.

“and I am going to have to use a crane to lift my finger up” I joked, he chuckled, before resting his chin on my head, we soon drifted off to sleep, as there was nothing else to do on this super long flight, I fell asleep with a smile on my face and so did he.

“Jay” the voice of my mother greeting us at the Sydney International Airport, followed by shy hello’s from both of my brothers, Lou hugged Mum, and shook the hands of both of my brothers, who just so happened to be staring at my enormous belly.

“Why don’t you take a damn picture it’ll last longer” I snapped at them, they both quickly turned away, Mum noticed what they had been doing and threw me an apologetic glance.

“Why don’t you two go help Louis with their suitcases” she suggested, a sigh of relief escaped my lips.

Tamy rested her head on my shoulder, and wrapped her arms around my chest; we had always been close sisters.

“Where’s Bailey?” Tamy asked Mum while we were waiting.

“She’s at uni, and your Dad’s at work” She told us.

“Why are the boys here? What about school?” I questioned her.

“They wanted to see you” she admitted, I looked over to my idiotic brothers helping Louis with our luggage, I couldn’t help but smile as they struggled to lift Tamy’s over sized suitcase.

“Did you tape it?” Mum whispered to Tamy, I turned right around.

“Tape what?” I asked them suspiciously

“The big proposal” Mum smiled at me, lifted my hand up to inspect the ring.

“It’s beautiful” she breathed, admiring the large rock that was now attached to my finger.

“I taped it don’t worry” Tamy smirked, and she headed over to help carry some of our belongings.

“Welcome home” Mum took my hand as we walked outside of the airport together as a family.

“There’s my girl” Dad came bouncing into the kitchen, where Mum had made us dinner, he looked at my new physique, he kissed me on the forehead and he did the same to Mum, and then to Tamy.

“Where’s Bails?” he asked us all, we had no idea she hadn’t been home yet.

“She’ll be here, don’t panic” Bailey had always been Dad’s favourite child, even when she was in her difficult pre-teen stage.

“Who’ll be here?” Came the familiar voice of my sister Bailey, her chocolate brown curls bounced as she let down her hair, she’s the only one of us who had the gift of Mum’s brunette curls, the rest of us inherited Dad’s blonde straight hair.

“Hey beautiful, remember me?” I joked, she came over to hug me, and sat down beside me.

“Your face looks familiar, but I’m sure I must be mistaken” she played along.

“Listen to her accent” Dad interjected, it was embarrassing, and they all wanted me to speak again just to hear my slight American accent.

“I don’t have an accent” I said rather forcefully, they all kept laughing at me though, even Lou did from in the kitchen, he was helping Mum prepare dinner, it was quite cute to see them bonding actually.

“Holey crap” Bailey gasped, once she spotted the ring.

“Bailey” Mum scolded; crap was not an encouraged word in this household.

“But Mum, look at that thing” she was so intrigued by my newest gift, it was amusing to watch, especially when dad got involved with staring at my finger.

“Ok that’s enough, can we eat? I’m starving.” Major fail at trying to change the subject I might add.

“That’s right, I remember you now you’re the mother of my niece or nephew aren’t ya” Bailey teased, so I threw the nearest napkin at her, a weak defence but I did get the point across.

“It’s like watching reality TV” Louis said to my dad, the two men laughed, as if it was the funniest joke ever, when clearly it was not.

When I woke up the next morning in my old bedroom, with Lou in the bed beside me, everything felt perfect, the ring was still on my finger, and it felt as though it had been there forever. I left my sleeping fiancé and went down the staircase and into the kitchen, where both of my brother’s were getting ready for school.

Justin was making about five sandwiches for his lunch, while Zac was watching the sports channel on the telly, and eating his cereal at the same time. I was so glad they had gotten over their Thomas the Tank engine stage that they’d been in when I had been living here.

“Sup fatty” Justin teased me from behind the kitchen bench, he was looking for an argument but I wasn’t going to bite, being the mature woman I am, I sat down at the table and skimmed through the junk mail instead.

“Can you drive yet?” I asked him

“No” was his answer, he had made fun of me for not getting my license till I was 18, and he’s almost 18 now what a hypocrite!

“He didn’t pass the test” Zac interrupted.

“Shut up” Justin shot back at his annoying little brother.

“Well I can drive” I pointed out, a smug look on my face

“At least I’m not fat” he rudely spat at me, it hurt when he said that, even though it was true, I stared down at my large stomach and automatically felt bad.

“She has a baby, what’s your excuse” Zac stood up for me, not moving his eyes from the game.

Mum walked in, and frowned at the arguments.

“You kids never change” she muttered, before putting some bread into the toaster.

“How do they get to school?” I asked Mum.

“They can walk, or be driven, whichever”

“Can I take them? It’ll be good to see the old school again”

“Say no Mum” Justin begged, I started to get the feeling that he didn’t really like me.

“Sure, take them” she smiled, I felt great especially when I spotted the disappointing look on my brothers face.

I drove Mum’s car down to my old high school, it had changed heaps, all the old buildings had been replaced, everything looked way better than I remember.

“Please just stay in the car and go home” Justin pleaded from the back seat, the moody boy hadn’t even spoken to me the entire trip, he just sat there with his earphones in and ignored me, Zac had talked to me the whole time, right up until I had dropped him off at the Primary school.

He was out of lock, I locked the car behind us as I walked into my old school, I only recognised a few faces, because they weren’t in high school yet when I graduated, but I knew some of the teachers.

“Jay? So nice to see you” Mrs Hamilton my old maths teacher greeted me, a few other teachers remembered me too, and came to say hello, it was refreshing to be able to go somewhere and for people to recognise you for something other than who I’m dating, what movie I’m in or what color I’ve dyed my hair this month.

I watched Justin hugging all the girls, and high fiving the boys, it was odd seeing him in his high school kingdom, as I had always remembered him as a shy nerd type. He’d turned into quite the opposite while at school.

I went back to the car, because there was nothing else for me to do at a high school. I didn’t really want anybody knowing I was here, well not press at least.

Lou was waiting for me when I arrived back at the house.

“Hello my gorgeous wife to be” he kissed me on the neck, when I sat down in the lounge room beside him; he had been drinking tea with my father, who did not have work that day.

“What are you two men up to?” I asked them, Dad shrugged his shoulders, and Louis just smiled.

“We were just talking, that’s all”

“So Lou, tell me did Harry and the boys know about you’re little aeroplane surprise?” I really wanted to know who was in on this big secret.

“No, but I messaged them telling them that I had something to tell them, just before we boarded”

“You didn’t?” my mouth gaped open, because of the time difference, I knew that they would be nervously awaiting the big news, which Lou was making them wait for.

“Relax, your Dad’s offering his laptop for us to tell everyone live.” He winked, walking me over to the table, where the computer was all set up for us.

“Okay, you sit there, and I’ll sit right here beside you” he grabbed an extra chair so that we would both be in view of the camera.

“Now when you were gone, I emailed them telling them to go on twitter, so that they can see the news together”

“Wait what? We aren’t telling them on twitter?”  I’m pretty sure that is the rudest way to announce an engagement, they’re our friends they deserve to know before the public don’t they? Before I could protest he’d already started the camera up, and viewers from all over the world were watching us.

“Hello all, Jay and I, we have some news to share with you all, but first I am going to tell you a story.” I looked at him as if to say ‘have you gone mad?’ he didn’t take much notice of me though he just babbled on with his story.

“Then Harry fully stacked it, he was lying on the floor like a doormat, and I myself couldn’t help him up because I was too busy laughing at Liam” he wasn’t even looking at the comments people were making, but I was.

A variation of:

Louis you’re so funny

Omg when’s the baby due?

Jay you look so bored

Lou dump her and be with me!

Some more comments were made, and when he was finished his awful story he looked at me and he smiled, before grabbing my hand and showing off the ring to the camera, which was broadcasted to all who was watching.

“I have decided that I want to spend the rest of my life with this amazing woman, and if you can’t accept that then I’m afraid it’s your loss, I love her, and she’s the mother of my baby and now my fiancé” he couldn’t of sounded prouder if he’d tried, his smile was as big as Australia, and that only made me smile even more.

“Thank you all for all of your support” I blew a kiss to the screen, and wiped away a tear that tried to escape from my eye.

The comments were going nuts:

It’s ok there’s 4 more 1d members left!

You two are perfect for each other

I’m so jealous, but congratz

I then noticed a comment from Harry, I knew it was from him because I recognised his account name.

Congratulations Boo, make sure you give Jay some love from me. I shall pay you back for keeping this a secret when you get back though! Xx

I ran my fingers through my knotted blonde hair, just before I stripped off for a shower, it was nice and peaceful without the boys being here, Tamy was back at her own house, and Bailey was still sleeping, she was always sleeping it was insane. She wouldn’t survive one week in my job, having to be on set some days at 5am now would she?

A knock on the door startled me, as I was inches away from stepping into the shower; I quickly turn to grab hold of a nearby towel in an attempt to cover my naked body, before checking who was knocking.

When I opened the bathroom door, Louis was standing there, grinning like an idiot, he took a step closer to me, slinging his hands around my body, he pressed his moist lips against mine leaving a quick peck on my mouth.

“Carry on with your bodily washing” he bowed, turning to leave me in peace for my shower. As the warm water flowed down my body, humming was escaping from my lips, I didn’t want to sing in the shower, although in this house I was known for a shower ballad or two, but Louis didn’t know that I was a shower performer, at our place that was his job, and Harry paid him out about it big time. If he knew I did it as well surely he would tell Harry.

When I was properly dried and pampered, ready for appearance, I went in search of my fiancé, I wanted to see him, for I had a rush of anxiety and an urge for neediness. I needed to have his arms around me, I needed him so badly. Tears were threatening to leak from my eyes but I wouldn’t let them crying would be terrible especially around my protective mother.

“Louis” I called down the hallways, he was nowhere to be seen or heard, panic rushed through me, I shuffled towards the kitchen because I couldn’t quite run, but Dad was sitting down at the kitchen table cross legged, reading the newspaper with a mug of tea in his hand.

“Dad, have you by any chance seen Lou anywhere?” I asked him, standing directly beside him which he hates people doing.

“No clue, sorry” he looked up at me and I could practically smell the annoyance in his breath.

I sighed, where the hell could he be? “That’s alright” I told him, as I left the room, I then searched the front garden, bad idea, as he wasn’t there either. I was starting to get annoyed, our phone plans don’t work in Australia so texting him was not an option, I slunk against a wall towards the end of the house, when I swore I could hear laughter coming from the backyard, I positioned myself so that I could get a clear view of the backyard and sure enough Mum and Louis were sitting out at the back table, under the pretty trees and flowers, our garden had always been beautiful but somehow watching Lou there with my Mum made it seem more magical.
