2. The first spark

Addie’s POV

“Addie! Hurry up; he will be here in like 15 minutes.” Willow shouted. “Coming” I said. From the time I got to my dorm to now, Willow has been freaking out. She still couldn’t believe I had a date with Harry Styles and frankly nether could I.

I stood in front of the mirror and just stared. I thought back to the day I met Willow. The first time I walked into my dorm I found Willow jumping up and down on her bed singing to One Direction’s LWWY. From that moment I knew we would be best friends. We both loved Chinese food, talking about the most random stuff, going for late night ice cream runs, and… One Direction.

“Addie, for real get your butt out of the bathroom so I can see how you look!” said Willow. “Okay, okay.” I said with no expression in my voice. I took one last look in the mirror and smiled to myself. “Whatcha think?” I asked. “Oh my gosh, you’re stunning.” Willow said. She ran over to give me a hug and we both starred to laugh. “I’m so happy for you Add.” Willow smiled. “Your seriously the bestest friend a girl could ask for.” I giggled.

I heard my phone go off in my back pocket and was a little scared to see who it was. I pulled it out of my back pocket to see that Harry sent me a message. “Will be there in 5, can’t wait. (:” he said. Oh boy, I have five minutes to calm down and relax. What’s the big deal anyway? He’s only the hottest boy I ever seen and his accent makes me weak at the knees. I’m fine…

“Want me to get it?” asked Willow. “Get what?” I questioned. “The door? It’s Harry I bet.” She said. “Um… yeah, thanks.” I smiled.

I hide on the side of the door so he couldn’t see me. “Why the heck are you hiding?” giggled Willow. “Shh… get the door!” I whispered. She opened the door to find Harry smiling at her. “Hello, I’m Harry.” He said. “Oh I know who you are. Um… I mean, I’m Willow. She smiled a tad embarrassed.  “Is this Addie’s dorm?” He asked. “Yep! One sec. Addie! She called. I know I was literally standing by her but come on give me a break.  I quickly took a few steps back and walked my way to the door.

“Hi.” I smiled. “Hello Beautiful.” He grinned. I could feel my face burning up after he said that. We locked eyes and smiled like idiots at each other.  We must have stood there for a while because Willow asked “Don’t you guys have a date to get to?” I laugh and walked out to the hallway with Harry.

We made small talk till we reached outside and found a car waiting for us. Harry put his hand on my back leading me to the car. After we were in the car, Harry asked “So are you ready to skate?” “Well I actually have no clue how to skate.” I laughed. “It’s easy and I will be by your side the whole time,” he replied. If he would be there when I fell, then it sounded perfect to me.

We arrived in Rockefeller Center, about a block away from the ring. Everyone was staring at us and I felt a little uncomfortable. Usually when I’m out, people don’t give a crap if they run into me; let alone taking a moment to look at me.  “Are you okay?” whispered Harry. I nodded and looked at the ground. He reached for my hand and our fingers intertwined. I looked at him and smiled, laying my head on his arm.

“Okay, here are ya skates.” said the worker at the ring. “Thank you.” Both Harry and I said. We were all set to hit the ice until four girls came over asking for pictures with Harry. I could see he was about to say no, but if I was one of them girls I would be crushed. I told Harry I was completely fine with him taking some pictures and he smiled at me with sorry eyes. Some of the girls even asked for a picture with me, and I couldn’t help but laugh.

When we were finally done with pictures, Harry led me to the ice. I must have squeezed his hand to hard, because he said “Addie, you’re doing great. Relax.” I broke the tight grip between us and started to skate on my own. “I think you were lying, you can skate!” he joked.  “Well I had a good teacher.” I winked at him. We both laughed and he was off trying to catch me.

We soon got tired of skating and headed back for the streets. It was going for 8:30, so we decided to find a coffee shop to warm up in.

Harry’s POV

We found a small shop called, Bouchon Bakery near the skating ring. It was getting cold and Addie’s cheeks were a Rosie red. She looked absolutely stunning no matter how cold she was. I slipped my arm around her waist, bringing her as close to me as possible to warm her up. We walked into the bakery and found a perfect spot for just two. Addie order a hot chocolate and a slice of apple pie that we both wanted to share. I decided on a hot cider.

“Are you from New York?” I asked. “No, North Carolina. I always wanted to live in the city, so when it was time to decide what college I wanted to go to, I already knew .” she smiled, taking a sip of her drink. “Wow. That’s great. I’ve been to North Carolina once for a concert.” I said.

She looked down at the table and laughed a little. I tilted my head in confusion. “I actually was at that concert.” She said. “Really, how can that be? I know I would have noticed that pretty face anywhere.” I smiled. “Well I sure did notice you.” She laughed.

We decided to walk back to her dorm, it was a little far but I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. She was so down to earth, it was unreal. She had an older brother, Wilson, which she looked up to so much, and she absolutely loved her parents. There was never an awkward moment with her, and everything seemed to fall into place.

“I’ll wait for you out here.” said Steve. “Alright, thanks.” I nodded. Addie and I walked down the hallway toward her room. She leaned against her door, giving me the perfect opportunity to kiss her. I wrapped my hands around her and leaned in to find her lips. She placed her hands gently on my chest, and we stood there for a moment letting our tongues dance it out. She finally broke apart to catch her breath. “So Harry Styles, will I be seeing you again?” She asked in a playful manner. “I don’t know. Do you want to see me again?” I asked, playing along. “Hmm… maybe.” She winked. She stood on her tippy toes, giving me one more kiss and opened her door. “I’ll call you Addie, I had a great time.” I said. “Me too.” She smiled and closed the door.

I must have looked like the biggest idiot at that moment. I smiled from ear to ear and replayed our kiss in my head, over and over again. One thing for sure, we had a spark that couldn’t burn out.
