I was woken the next morning by my phone ringing from my pocket. I really, really needed to learn to put it on silent at night.
As I pulled the phone from my pocket, I glanced over at Tali who had begun to stir in her chair, disturbed by the increasing noise. Accepting the call, I pressed the phone to my ear.
"Hi Hannah, how are you?" The caller asked.
"Hey Ewan, I'm fine thanks. What about you?" I recognised the voice as my driving instructor, Ewan.
"I'm good. I just called to let you know that your lesson today has had to be changed to two o'clock instead of twelve due to delays in candidates tests, I'm sorry."
"Oh okay." I replied simply.
"I can try and change it to a different time if you need me to?"
"No, no, two's fine" I reassured the slight panic in his voice.
"Oh good, I'll see you outside yours at two then?" He continued, and that's when I realised I couldn't go back home just yet.
"Actually, do you remember Tali? Could you pick me up outside her house instead?"
"Sure, is everything okay?"
"Yeah, everything's fine." I lied.
"Okay, see you later!"
"Bye." I called down the phone as I hung up and looked over at Tali who was now grinning up at me.

"Is Ewan coming here?" Tali asked, jumping up and down like a 6 year old. See, Tali has this strange obsession with my 24 year old driving instructor Ewan.
"Yes, Tali." I sighed, "But only for my lesson."
"He's still coming though!" Tali squealed excitedly before her whole expression changed, her jaw hanging open as she stared into space. "Oh.My.God. He was really here, wasn't he Hannah? Harry Styles was in my house."
"Mmh hmm." I hummed, grinning slightly at her over-obsessive behaviour. "I'm still trying to work out how you managed to compose yourself."
"Are you going to see him again?" Tali asked.
"I don't know; I doubt it. He's probably busy. He has no reason to want to see me again."
"You never know..."
"No, Tali. I'm not going to see him again. He was only here bec-...because I cut my head."
I still didn't know the real reason why Harry had come after me, but it made me think.
If Harry hadn't come back, would I be here now?
If Harry hadn't come back, what would have happened to me?
I shuddered slightly as I remebered the strong smell of alcohol saturating the drunk's breath as he stood before me.
"Are you okay?" Asked Tali, a worried expression spreading across her face.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I half smiled back at her. She paused for a moment before opening her mouth again.
"So when is Ewan here?" She grinned excitedly.
"I swear your brain flits between subjects quicker than I can blink." I mumbled, somewhat sarcastically.
"Probably does, but back to the question...?"
"Ewan had to change my lesson from twelve o'clock, to two o'clock. That's all."
Even at the simplicity of the news, Tali giggled like a little schoolgirl adorned with a pinafore and plaits.
"Well its 11:35 now so you better get a move on." She urged.
"Do you mind if I use your shower?" I asked hesitantly.
"Sure, use anything you want." Tali smiled as she tidied all the empty packets and containers that littered the small coffee table.
"Oh crap." I muttered as I stood up.
"What's wrong?"
"I have no clean clothes." I sighed, "I'll just go ho-"
"No, don't worry. Use anything you want from my wardrobe."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah it's fine." Tali smiled. "Use anything you want in the bathroom too."

After spending a considerable amount of time in the shower, I stepped out and picked up two of the white fluffy towels that hung over the radiator. The first I used to tie my hair up, it  eventually resembling a Mr. Whippy ice cream; the second being used to wrap around my body, the soft material clinging to my damp skin.
Once I knew the towel wasn't going to slip off, I made my way through to Tali's room and headed straight for her wardrobe. Just as I reached out for the door handle, I caught my reflection in the mirror, a sharp intake of breath following what met my eyes.
Different shades of blue, purple, red and yellow made up the two bruises that adorned my wrist and shoulder, holding the constant reminder of my fathers actions. As I gently brushed my fingertips over the marks I felt the tears threaten to spill over. I bit my lip trying to force back the tears as I stared at the ugly figure standing before me, the slightly salty, metal taste soon meeting my tongue.
As the tears eventually spilled, I separated my gaze away from the mirror holding the reflection of my hideous self and continued to rummage through Tali's wardrobe for something simple to wear. I eventually settled on a pair of black skinny jeans and an oversized jumper, deciding to do nothing with my hair except pull it into a messy bun, hiding the healing cut on the back of my head. I applied a thin line of eyeliner and a single coat of mascara before heading back downstairs in search of a toothbrush.

"Tali, do you have any spare toothbrushes?" I asked as she stirred two cups of tea.
"Yeah. There should be a packet of new ones in the cupboard above the sink upstairs, I think there's a fresh tube of toothpaste too."
"Thanks." I smiled as I turned back around to begin making my way back upstairs.

Once I had finally finished getting ready, I walked back downstairs for what I hoped would  be the last time - my legs were beginning to ache.
As I re-entered the kitchen I glanced up at the clock hanging on the wall, the time reading 12:18.
"Sorry I took so long." I apologised as I picked up my tea and taking a sip, feeling the warm liquid as it trickled down my throat.
"Don't worry, its fine." She smile, rising from her seat.
"Sorry to be a burden, but I really am grateful for your help." As I said this, a single tear formed in my eye. It was tiny, but just enought for Tali to notice, pulling my into a hug and trying to comfort me.
"Tegan don't cry, please? And stop saying sorry!" She smiled half-heartedly, "What else has he done?"
"Its Nothing. But thanks."
"I know its not nothing but if you don't want to tell me that's fine." She reassured. I felt a slight pang of guilt at this, standing before her and refusing to say what was on my mind to my closest friend.
My guilty conscience getting the better of me, I slowly pulled back my sleeve, only just revealing the fresh bruise on my wrist.
Tali took my hand gently and ran her fingers across there mark, "Oh Tegan, why wont you let me call the police." She sighed.
"Because there's no point. It will just become a more problematic situation."
"But your just putting yourself in more danger. Please just-"
"No, Tali. Please just leave it. I'll be fine."
Tali could clearly see she wasn't going to win this.
"Okay, but if it gets any worse, please, please tell me."
My only reply was a short nod of my head, not saying a word.
"Right, cereals are in the cupboard, bread too. If you don't want to eat any of that just have a rummage through everything. I'm just going for a shower." Tali concluded as she ascended the stairs to her room.
