9. Chapter 9 - Megan

I walk into the Cupcake Carousel, the small cafe where I work  after lectures at uni. I smile and wave 'Hello' to Kiera, another server at the cafe. She smiles back and looks back down to her notepad, pen in hand as she chews the end. I walk to the counter and slip behind it, grabbing a baby pink apron and pulling it over my head. As I tie the back, I join Kiera at the counter.

"Hey Kier, what's happened now then?" Kiera is an aspiring author, hoping to have a book on the shelves of every book shop. She's dong everything she can to get her book published. She writes online, hoping to get noticed. She uses loads of different sites and she reads stories online too, trying to expand her knowledge so she can write better is what she says. She often lets me read her stories during our breaks and I love them. She's an amazing writer and I know that one day she'll achieve her dream.

"Can't say." She replies. "I haven't worked it out yet. I know what I want to happen but I don't know how to word it." I nod, understanding what she means.

"Well, what do you want to happen? I might be able to help." I suggest. She thinks it over before nodding and explaining how she wants the main girl to have trust issues about the guy she seeing without being too clichéd. I think for a moment when a couple of customers come in. I signal for Kiera to tend to the couple while I keep thinking.

When she returns, I smirk widely at her. She raises an eyebrow at me when she notices my expression.

"What?" She questions, wearily.

"I've thought of the solution to your problem." I tell her. She smiles and motions for me to continue. "What if the main girl keeps having these dreams that she can't trust him? Like she dreams that he's cheating on her every night and she eventually believes it?" Kiera's face lights up.

"Oh my god, Megan! That's prefect! Thank you so much!" She then wraps her arms round me, hugging me in thanks.

"Glad I can do something right." I tell her. The door rings as it opens and I turn to make some more coffee. I feel Kiera tap my shoulder and I turn to look at her.

"You take this customer." She tells me. I nod and walk to the counter, looking at the ground til I reach the plastic desk painted to look like marble. I look up and smile, seeing Joe.

"Hey." I greet, leaning over the counter slightly to peck his lips.

"Hi. Can I get my usual?" He asks. I nod and grab the giant tweezer things for grabbing the pastries. I pull a sugary donut out and slip it into a white paper bag before putting that on the counter and going to get his drink. As I turn to the hot drinks machine, I see that Kiera's already made it; a hot chocolate, minus all the extras he likes. I smile, mentally thanking her as I walk to the side of the counter, by the clear plastic shelf of pastries.

I grab a few marshmallows and sprinkle them into the hot brown liquid. I pass the mug to Joe who puts the money on the table before going to his usual table, by the window. I give Kiera a look she recognises and I make myself a hot chocolate, knowing that as a worker, I get free drinks and a pastry each week. I add marshmallows and I also crush half a flake into the mug. I take my mug to Joe and sit opposite him.

We chat and drink our hot chocolate until he has to go. I check my phone for the time and see that I still have another 3 hours til I can leave. I text Niall, asking him if he's busy to which he replies saying that he just finished working at the studio. I text him the address of the cafe, telling him when I finish too.

30 minutes later, a boy slightly younger than myself dressed in a hoody and dark sunglasses. I smirk, wondering if he could be any more obvious. I then glance around and see that the cafe's basically deserted apart from myself and Kiera. As he looks around the cafe, I sneak up behind him.

"Oh. Em. Gee. It's Niall Horan! Will you sign my face?!" I say in a high-pitched voice, sounding nothing like myself. Niall jumps from his skin and turns around. When he sees that it's only me, he relaxes.

"Megs! You scared the life out of me." He tells me. I just smirk and shrug.

"I saw that. Now come on. Want a drink?" I ask, nipping behind the counter once more.

"Uh sure," He looks over the menu. "Hot chocolate?"

"Coming right up." I quickly make him his drink and before he can object, I add a load of marshmallows. I pass the mug to him and hold me hand out to him. "Come on, pay up. And there better be a good tip for me in there." He chuckles quietly, pulling out money and passing it over. "Thanks." I put the money in the till and guide him to a table.

"So, you wanted to talk? Again?" He asks, once seated.

"Yep, about the video." He nods. "I have a few ideas. Like maybe, I could film me back at home, you know showing them around and then going into your room while you're there and then explaining everything. Or I could vlog myself in the park where you happen to be hanging and then meeting up and explaining." I tell him. He nods.

"I like the first one, it'll give me a chance to see the family again. But there's no guarantee that I can get home soon." Niall explains.

"But it'd only be for like a weekend... or maybe even just a day or a couple hours." I suggest.

"I'll speak to the boys and ask management then tell you. Sound good?" I nod and we stand up. "I better go and get everything arranged." I hug him before he heads out. I turn back and see Kiera staring at me.

"Was that Niall Horan from One Direction?" She asks, a look of shock on her face.

"Yep." I tell her with a nod of my head. "Don't tell anyone though. It's a surprise."

"Okay." She says with a shrug. Kiera isn't a directioner. She thinks their music is alright but she's not obsessed like some people are. I smile and hope that everyone accepts it like Kiera does.

All I can do is hope and pray.
