I'm...different. Most people are out to kill me.
And not in the classic cat-fight way.
Like, with a knife, or gun.

Jake is my only friend.

I trust no one.

This is what the mark (#) has given me.

The group of people I belong to are hunted, killed for things we do not know. Just because you possess special powers doesn't mean you are evil, right?

I sure as heck hope not.

This is what I am.

I, Fire Rose, am an Allure.

10. Chapter Ten

After all that drama(x

I wake up to someone lifting me bridal style and setting me back down on the couch.

"Zak..." I mumble into the cushion. I open one eye. It's pitch black outside. It's supposed to be morning...right? Why is it so dark?

"Just stay there Angel, I'll be right back." I sit up slowly, rubbing my eyes.

"Where are you going? Why is it so dark outside? Do they happen to have something to do with one another?"

"They might." He pulls on his shoes and ties them up. I just stare at him. After they are both laced he stands up and grabs my face in my hands, planting a kiss on my forehead. "I won't be long. Maybe go talk to Jake, cool him off a bit." With that, he walks out the front door, leaving me alone in the living room.

I knock on the door softly, not having strength to knock loudly and demanding. Jake opens the door.

"Can I come in? I can't sleep."

"Where's Zak?" He looks both way down the hall, like he followed me.

"I don't know, I woke up and he was gone."

"Of course, the flake." He says with a grunt.  I roll my eyes. "Oh, right. Come on in." I walk in and Jake shuts the door. It's a lot bigger than my room.

"It's big."

"Yeah...bigger than mine." I look out the window. It's still pitch black. I wonder what he's doing out there. Did he run? No, he didn't take anything. Is there something out there? I sure hope not. I turn around to Jake sitting on the bed. I jump up next to him and lean my head on his shoulder. He wraps his arm around me in a brotherly way.

He is like the brother I never had.

"What were you guys doing out there?"

"What do you mean?" I feel my eyes starting to droop. Why am I so tired?

"You were like...laying on him."

"What? You're nuts."

"No, I'm pretty sure that's what I saw." I feel dizzy. I push farther into Jake's shoulder so I don't fall off the bed.

"I can't remember. I remember watching something about the Allure War, and discussing the map...that's it." What a horrible lie. You shouldn't lie to Jake, even if it is for Zak's sake. You knew Jake longer.

Or at least I think so.

"That's it? You fell asleep just like that?"

"I guess so."

"Oh." Stars cloud my eyes.

"My head is throbbing..I think I'm going to pass out..."

"What?" Jake jumps up and grabs my arms, steadying me. I look right into his eyes before I black out.

Fire, come to me. Come to me Fire.

Who are you!? What do you want?!

I need answers Fire. I need to tell you about him.

About who?!  Who are you?! Where are you?!

It's your dad.

You're dead.

No Fire, trust me. Come to me sweetheart. I need to tell you about him.

The boy...with the eyes.

The eyes?

Come to me Fire.

Shut up!

Come Fire. Let me help you...

I jolt awake.

"She just passed out! I wouldn't hurt her!"

"Jake why would she just pass out randomly?!"

"Dehydration?! I don't know!" My stomach turns inside out. I grab my side and groan. Zak and Jake both rush to my side. "You alright?" Asks Jake. I shake my head.

"My....My stomach..." Jake looks worried. Zak looks sleep deprived and ready to kill someone. I squeeze my eyes shut and hold my side harder. "Ow..."

"Her stomach hurts."

"No shit Jake."

"Now's not the time for you and your stupid attitude. Fire just passed out!" I hear a sigh.

"No shit Jake." Jake growls.

"Jake?" I whisper. He looks at me, meeting my eyes instantly.

"You get me a glass of water or something?" He nods and stands up, shutting the door on the way out. I glare at Zak instantly.  He holds his hands up in surrender.

"What did I do this time?"

"What is up with the darkness? And why did I pass out and talk to someone who claimed to be my dad? Why is it so cold? And why the hell were you in the Allure War on the projector?!" He sighs and runs his hand through his hair again.

"Fire I need to tell you something."

"You need to tell me a lot of things."

"But I can't tell you right now."

"You say that to everything."

"I really wish I could..."

"No you don't."

"I just don't have the authority to tell you about your past..."

"Why not!?"

"And let all the secrets spill, and it would just be a mess.."

"What would be a mess?! What secrets?!"

"And everyone would be searching for you, and me, and Jake, and we'd have to run..."

"Like we are now?!"

"And I don't want to risk it."

"RISK WHAT!?" I yell, sitting up and throwing my hands in the air. He meets my eyes once again, instantly captivating me.

"Losing you again." He mumbles. I sigh and throw a pillow at him.

"Stop being such a damn sap and tell me what is going on!" He grins and sets the pillow back beside me. He sits down next to me, setting his hand on mine.

"You're?" He shakes his head and rubs his temples.

"Going to get my ass kicked for telling you this."

"Tell me anyway." He looks at me again.

"Well no shit."

"No, that's not what I mean. I'm not...human." I stare at him, mouth open.

"What?" He sighs. "You're Allure? You're the enemy? You're a Beguile?" He shakes his head.

"No, none of those."

"Then...what?" He looks up at the cieling.

"I can't tell you that." I throw my hands in the air.

"Well what the heck! You were going to tell me and then you just blow me- you know what?"

"My life is a living hell." He laughs once, a short laugh, like a bark.

"And you aren't making it any better." I stand up. My eyesight goes blurry and my feet feel like they're floating, but I need to make a point to this boy. I try and walk around the bed to the door. I fall back. Zak is up and catching me from behind as fast as lightning. And he's on the other side of the bed. I turn and look at him.

"How did you do that?" He still grips my elbows.

"Not human, remember?" I stare him up and down.

"Don't sweet talk me now, now's not the time." I push him off and walk to the door sloppily, doing my best not to fall. "I'll be outside with Jake. Pack up and meet us out there when you're ready to start off again." I slam the door. Jake looks at me, holding a glass of water. I pluck it from his grasp and casually sashe down the hallway. "Thanks Jake!" I yell behind me.

Leave me a comment Owlz, I want to know what you want and think is going to happen next. ;)

What do you think Zak is?

Where do you think the map leads?

What obstacles are ahead?
