24. Simon

When I woke up the next morning, Bethany was gone as usual. I sighed and pushed back the covers. I got up and walked out to the kitchen where I saw a note sitting on the table.

Hey, I’m at practice love. I left some food in the fridge for you if you want it. Uhm…I’ll see you later.

I sighed and threw the note out. I walked over to the fridge and pulled out what Bethany had left me and ate it in about five minutes. I cleaned up and walked into the living room, unsure of what to do. I didn’t need to think too long before my phone went off.

Where are you?! – Simon

At a friends…why? – H

My office; 20 minutes. – S

I closed my phone and quickly wrote Bethany a note saying where I went. I slipped on my shoes and ran to my car, flooring it out of there just so I would be able to get to Simons’ in time.

“There you are!” Louis yelled, twenty minutes later when I ran inside Simons’ office.

“Yeah, it’s about time.” Simon said, looking annoyed.

“Sorry Simon…I guess I forgot. I ended up crashing at a friends’ house last night.”

“I know where you were last night- the slums.” Simon slid me a pile of pictures and there were pictures of Bethany and I. “Who is she?”

“Her name is Bethany…”

“You mean the underground fighter?” I nodded, looking at the pictures. Her posture and her eyes gave off pure paranoia.

“She’s my girlfriend…” I whispered, making everyone in the room go silent.

“No; you can’t be seen with someone who does illegal work.” Simon demanded.

“Too bad.” I yelled, pushing the pictures back to him, making everyone gasp. I was always the one who tried to keep the peace, not cause problems. “I’m staying with her.” I slammed my hands on the table, making Simon jump.

“Harry…she’s a bad influence…this is just to prove it.”

“So sue me; I’m not leaving her for some dumb, blonde, bimbo you want me with. I’m staying with Bethany and if she’s okay with it, I’m making it public after her practice tonight.”

“You wouldn’t.” Simon said, gritting his teeth.

“Watch me.” I grabbed my keys and stormed out of the office. I knew Bethany had an impact on me that probably wasn’t for the better, but I didn’t care. I wanted her, and I was going to keep her. If that meant shit from the public, so be it.

“Harry?” I asked, surprised to see Harry walk into the gym. He looked absolutely furious. “Are you okay?”

“No. Can I join?” I looked at the punching bag and nodded. He wrapped his hands and started punching the bag. I stood behind it, watching it for him. I was surprised at the amount of strength he contained, but it was kind of attractive.

“What happened?” I asked, trying to be a good girlfriend.

“Simon happened.” Harry spat as he continued to throw punches. “He decided I was too good for you, so I got pissed off, told them to screw off, and left.”

“How does he know about us…?” I asked, tensing up.

“The paps took pictures of us. Simon has been paying them to keep the pictures out of the press would be my assumption.”

“Come out with me tonight.” Harry stopped throwing punches and looked me in the eyes.

“Harry I…is this a good idea?”

“I want people to know you’re mine.” I nodded and started to smile.

“I’d love to go out with you tonight.”

“Great. I have to go home and get cleaned up but I can pick you up around six.”

“What do you want me to wear? I mean…I don’t own very nice clothes.”

“Jeans and a hoodie is fine. I don’t plan on doing anything overly fancy.” I giggled and smiled.

“Okay.” Harry kissed me before turning to leave. I watched him walk all the way to his car, and watched him until I couldn’t see his car anymore.

“You realize you have a match at five, right?” I jumped, hearing Mike behind me.

“I’m not going to miss it.”

“You better keep your head in the game.”

“I will Mike…don’t worry.” Mike nodded and went back to his office. I sighed, trying not to get frustrated. I knew Mike and Harry were from two totally different worlds; I just had to find a way to make them work together…easier said than done.
