The Fighter

Harry is dragged by Zayn to a female boxing match to see one of the best female fighters-Bethany. Harry watches Bethany as she fights and realizes by the way she moves, something about her is off but she's still powerful. When he gets the chance to meet her, and their relationship takes off, can they fight to keep their relationship together or will they be pulled apart because they both lead two totally different lives and Bethany's deep, dark secret?

4. Locked Eyes

“So where are we going?” I finally asked. Zayn and Harry both shrugged.

“We don’t live around here…do you know any good places?” I chuckled and shook my head.

“Do I look like the type of person to eat out or even go in public?” I asked, pointing to myself, making Zayn laugh.

“I would assume so since you’re a professional underground fighter.” Zayn pointed out.

“I don’t care what I am…my life revolves around fighting and dealing. There really isn’t time for a social life.”

“Are you saying you don’t have friends?” Zayn joked. I shrugged and started biting my already nonexistent nails.

“I have a couple but…that’s about it. None of which really understand me.”

“What do you mean?” Harry asked, jumping in.

“It really isn’t important. I’m just not a person many people understand. Why would a girl want to be an underground fighter when at any chance get her arrested? It just doesn’t click with many people around here.”

“I don’t see a problem with it.” Zayn said.

“That’s because people like you enjoy watching people beat the living shit out of each other. I just enjoy doing it.”

“Why’s that?” Harry asked.

“I have my reasons.” I looked Harry dead in the eyes and for a moment, everything seemed to freeze.

You know those moments where you look into your lovers’ eyes, and the whole world stops; time stops; everything around you stops? When Bethany looked into my eyes, that’s what happened. I don’t know what it was but when we locked eyes it was almost like everything seemed to make sense. The thing was…I didn’t know what everything was.

“So…where do you guys want to go?” Zayn asked, breaking the moment.

“I still don’t care.” Bethany said, still looking at me.

“Is Nandos alright?” Zayn asked awkwardly.

“Yeah…sure.” Bethany said, shrugging, turning away from me.

“Do you have a car here?” Zayn asked, making Bethany laugh.

“Do I look like the type of person to own a car? No…I take the bus normally. We aren’t all rich like you.”

“What makes you think we’re rich?” Zayn asked, smirking.

“You don’t really hide it well.” Bethany said, raising an eyebrow. I couldn’t tear my gaze from her no matter how hard I tried.

“We can take my car.” Zayn finally said. Bethany and I followed Zayn to his car. When we got in, he drove us all to the nearest Nandos which was closer to the richer part of London over the slum part of London. I kept glancing back at Bethany who seemed in her own world. After locking eyes with her once, I felt like she had already had me in the palm of her hand…and she didn’t even know it.
