The Half-Truth (One Direction)

Claire's mother Elizabeth Mccray, famous author, takes herself and her daughter from New Jershey to London, England. Of course Claire, 17, is not happy about moving halfway through her senior year at highschool. Once settled into her new home, she meets some of the best friends she'll ever have; Morgan, Jessica, Ethan, and of course, the boys. Claire realizes that maybe this is the chance she's been waiting for; a fresh start. Soon enough, she finds herself falling for a boy she never thought she would love. Claire's new friends want to trust her, but they know she's not telling them someting important about herself.

9. The Second Date

So it's Saturday, late morning, an hour before my date with Niall and I have nothing to wear.

I'm starting to regret not staying at the mall with Morgan.

I take out everything in my closet and dresser and through it either on the bed or on the ground.  Urg.

After contemplating several outfits and discarding them I check the time.

11:26 a.m.

There's no time for Morgan to come over so I have to pick out my own outfit.

I'm screwed.

For the next thirty minutes I basically freak out over my lack of clothing and style.  I then realize I have next to no time to get ready before my date with Niall.

I proceed to freak out some more, wasting even more time, before throwing on my favorite jeans and a random shirt  I finish off with cool sneakers.

I don't bother to go all out on makeup because i'm going to be outside.

I take a look in the mirror and reconsider that decision.

I put on some mascara and lip gloss.

The doorbell rings and rush downstairs to answer it.

I open the door to a smiling face.  He looks good today.  Niall has that sort of boyish look that looks cute in a I'm-Not-Trying-To-Look-Good-But-I-Do sort of way.

"Hey Claire!"  He says while holding up a Frisbee.  "Ready to go?"

"Of course!" I respond, trying to match his level of perkiness.

Once we got to the park  Niall goes to the trunk of his car and pulls out a picnic lunch. I am truly amazed.

"Niall! Did you make that?"

He blushed, "No, my mum made it. I love food but I can't cook for my life."

I laughed before responding. "That's makes two of us"

We set up a spot under a tree.  It's cold for eating outside and I am clearly cold.

Niall takes off his sweatshirt and gives it to me.  He only has a t-shirt on.

"No," I protest, "You'll be cold."

Niall smiles, a smile that makes your heart melt. "i'll be fine, but you won't.  Just take it."

I flash him a grateful smile before putting it on.  Oh god.  It smells like him.  I could have gotten lost in the smell of his sweatshirt but I was determined not to mess up this date.

We ate and talked.  It turns out we are a lot alike.  We both have moved, he from Ireland to England and me from America to England, we both use hair dye (he's a natural brunette), and we both worship food.

We also talked about some deeper stuff, too.  It turns out that his parents are workaholics like my mom is.  When I asked him why, he looked away and didn't answer.  I get why he did that.  I can understand him.

We played Frisbee and ran around the park like 5 year olds.  We laughed, giggled, hugged, and ate.

It was probably the best day I've yet to experience.

When our date was over, Niall drove me home.  He kissed me on my cheek before driving off.

Me?  Well I was left at the door trying to catch my breath.
