The Rain On Monday

Written words are the only thing my mind can find ease in.

43. Untouchable

All my life I’d see on the television stories of people who’ve had stuff taken from them.

Valuables, clothes, furniture, luxury items, money, identity, people, homes.

But the stories that I hadn’t ever seen on the television were ones that people had more than just stuff taken from them.

Love, friendship, spirit, happiness, joy, creativity, passion, worth.

I wasn’t prepared for this at all.

I never thought of love, friendship, spirit, happiness, joy, creativity, passion, and worth as possessions, because if I had, I would’ve stayed guarded.

The items could be replaced, but the things that you can’t touch or feel, but merely remember, are harder to recover from.

I didn’t want those untouchable things.

So I got rid of them.

Apathy was there, and that was untouchable, but it clung to me more than gravity.

You could say it was like feeling nothing.

But are you really feeling the untouchable?

Or is it just a toxic fault in the world?
