The Rain On Monday

Written words are the only thing my mind can find ease in.

105. Hunger

An apple on your tray and two waters by its side;

I know you haven't eaten yet, I know when you have lied.

Dizziness just compliments the dullness in your eyes -

not looking for attention, just muffling your cries.

A two-digit number on the scale and a smile on

your lips; you don't reward yourself 'cos the food sticks

to your hips.

Bloodshot eyes and cigarette breath couldn't compare

to the sweetness of a slow, painful death.
