Like A Love Song *Sequel to February 14, 2013*

After what felt like forever, he finally looked up at me. It frustrated me so much that I couldn't see his face in the darkness. The lights beaming behind him made it even harder to tell. I could barely see the smirk on his face. He took a step closer while I was frozen on the spot, our bodies almost touching.
"Hello beautiful."

8. All I'll Ever Be

Jenna's POV:

Niall hasn't talked to me in over a month.

He still sits with us at lunch, I've learned my lesson to just avoid conversation with him instead of making a fool of myself. He ignores me every time. I'm trying to follow my mum's advice, but I feel like if I don't make the first move he'll never bother to talk to me. I think he's made that clear enough...

My mum's been hanging out with me much more often. Why- I don't know. Not that I'm complaining, it just seems a little suspicious.

Zayn and I are happy. Happy as can be. We used to seem a lot closer, though. I can't help to notice how distant he's being. Whenever I try to make plans with him, he says he's already hanging out with the boys. I get that he wants to see his friends, but he should see his girlfriend too, right?

Or am I just being clingy...

Today Zayn said he's going out of town for the weekend to spend quality time with his sister. Everyone seems to be getting in on their quality time, strange.

I lounged on the couch, flipping through channels. Just a bunch of reality shows filled with useless drama, and kid shows.

I turned off the tv and checked my phone, maybe something interesting's on there.

Zayn: I'm sorry I couldn't hang out today, lets shoot for next week? x

J: No hard feelings. Sounds good :)

Louis: Ello!

J: Hey, Lou :)

Harry: Wanna hang out?

I hadn't been with only Harry for a while, so I figured, why not?

J: Sure! Where to?

H: You can come over, then we could go to Lou's party tonight. Sound good?

Hmm, didn't known Louis was throwing a party.

J: I'll be over soon :)

I quickly got ready, throwing on a white tank top, skinny jeans, combat boots and a bag with party clothes to change into. While getting ready, I continued texting Louis. He told me about the party and since I already was going with Harry, I accepted his invitation. My mum was having a double date with my father and a few friends, so she gave me permission to go to Louis' party.

Me and Harry were sitting on the couch, the volume barely up on the tv. Someway somehow we ended up playing Monopoly, I game which I swear doesn't ever end. But it's a good time-passer.

We called it to an end after about and hour and a half of playing, Harry winning. By a lot, might I add. We're both big competitors, and Harry gave himself full bragging rights for the rest of the day.

The afternoon went pretty slow after that, we sat and watched tv until Harry's phone rang full volume, making us both jump. Harry excused himself and walked over to the other side of the room, I could still hear him but not who was on the other line.

"Hey... Yeah... No I'm just hanging out with J... No... Yeah we're both going. Are you?... Good. See ya, man. ... Bye."

"Who was that?" I asked when he walked back over to the couch. "Just Niall." He responded with a sigh. "Is he alright?" I asked. "Yeah, he just wanted to know if we were going to Louis' party." He said, keeping his eyes on the tv. "If I ask you something, can you answer in full honesty?" I asked, turning towards him.

He finally looked over at me a little worried, but nodded."Of course."

"Why is Niall ignoring me? What did I do wrong?" I asked quietly. Harry chuckled softly, almost in surprise to my question. Or relief.

"He's just being Niall. He cares about you, don't forget that." He answered, smiling. "Doesn't feel like it..." I mumbled to myself, looking down at my hands. "He does, okay? Just... Did you ever think that Zayn may not be your only option?" Harry asked. I looked at him a little shocked. What was that supposed to mean?

"Never mind." He laughed, noticing my confusion. He turned back to the tv screen, not saying another word until it was time to get ready.

"Heyy, the party's here!" Louis yelled when he saw me and Harry walk in. The music was loud, cups on the floor and sweaty dancing packed the room. It was a typical high school party.

"Hey Lou!" I smiled at him. He gave me and Harry a hug, then pulled me through the crowd. "Drinks!" Louis yelled, making me laugh a little. Of course.

As time passed, the party only got wilder. Just like the majority of us, Louis was flat out drunk. Which I've never seen him before. As hard as it is to believe, he doesn't go too crazy. At least compared to his normal personality (which isn't really 'normal') he's just his weird self. Harry had a few drinks, mostly staying by my side. He didn't get drunk, at least not nearly as much as Lou. Marilyn was another story, though. Out of the two of us, I was the more responsible one. I hate drinking, it brings too much guilt to me knowing I'm not allowed to. Marilyn doesn't care though, she does whatever she wants and somehow never gets caught.

Oh, how I envy her sometimes.

I tried to keep my eye on her, but she ran off so many times I just had to give up and trust her not to do anything too stupid. I figured that if anything happened, she'd have Liam there to help her. Like me, he's not much of a drinker.

I danced for a while with Harry in the crowd of people. We mostly laughed at each others moves, like we did at the Valentines Dance. I saw Louis a few times, running through screaming random things, none that I could understand. Had to've been the alcohol talking. Harry went to get another drink, so I decided to wonder around the house a bit to find my other friends. It seemed like everywhere I went, I saw Lou. It was impossible not to laugh at him.

At some point I thought I was going crazy, thinking I saw Zayn. He had his back towards me, dancing with a few other people in a small group. But he was out with his sister, so sadly it wouldn't have been him. I leaned against the counter in the kitchen, looking around at everyone. Harry and Louis were sitting on the couch, laughing hysterically. Liam was up against the wall by himself, looked like he was thinking about something. Marilyn was dancing, ridiculously might I add. I saw a couple of other random friends and waved or smiled at them.

When I looked to the far left side of the room, I saw Niall standing there with his hands in his pockets, already staring at me. It took me by surprise made me jump a little at first, but I quickly eased up and smiled over at him. He picked up the cup sitting behind him and walked over.

"Hey!" He smirked, practically yelling over the music and people. I could smell the alcohol on his breath.

Well, that explains why he's talking to me.

I just kept smiling at him, having no clue what to say. "Let's go for a walk." He said, pulling my wrist before I could say anything. Harry saw us leave through the back door. He gave a confused look, but started smirking. Whatever that was about.

It was freezing outside. At least compared to inside Louis' house, it was. Niall didn't seem affected by it, though. We stayed quiet for a minute, both of us off in our own worlds.

"Why'd you want to come out here?" I finally asked. He took the last sip of whatever was in his drink, tossed the cup into Louis front yard and started walking off the porch with me. "I've missed talking to you. Well, I've just missed you in general." He started to trip when he walked, the alcohol getting to his head. He was only half as bad as Harry's birthday, thank God. Wouldn't want to relive that one.

"Then why do you ignore me?" I wasn't going to hold back on the questions. If this is the only time he'll be honest with me, then I'm taking advantage.

"I needed to forget you," he explained, looking right at me. We weren't too far from Louis' yet, we walked so close to each other our arms were constantly bumping into each other. "I couldn't get you off my mind since we walked in the city. And I needed to, because I knew about Zayn's feelings for you. He would kill me if he knew. He's kinda protective like that..." He mumbled the last part, rubbing his hand on the back of his neck. "Why would he kill you for it? Are you a threat?" I asked. He looked at me surprised, and started laughing. "Yeah, me- Niall Horan- is a threat to Zayn Malik," He said sarcastically. "Zayn doesn't need to be threatened by anyone. He gets everything he wants." He sighed.

"That's not true Niall, life isn't just handed to him." I defended Zayn. I knew Niall was slightly right, but I don't want him thinking that of his bestfriend, my boyfriend.

"Really? He got you." He said in a deeper voice than usual, like he was irritated. He still tripped every so often, the alcohol showing no signs of wearing off. "What's that supposed to mean?" I asked, not sure if I should be offended or not. "Jenna," he laughed, "did you completely forget how terrible he was to for five years? I mean, that's a long time! He hurt you in so many ways yet, you still follow after him like a lost puppy. Why do you like him after i all?" Niall asked, throwing his arm over my shoulders (probably to keep him standing...). "I didn't forget about it, I just looked past it." I protested. "Besides, what does it matter to you?" I asked, getting a little annoyed with him. "You know I care about you. Just remember, Zayn isn't the only option." He mumbled. Why are people saying that? First Harry, now Niall?

"I know Zayn," He went on, "and well enough to know he's just another teenage heartthrob."

"Teenage heartthrob?" I asked, confused. "Yeah," he nodded, "That's all he is. The girls absolutely adore him and he knows it. Often uses it to his advantage, might I add. He's a major player, but he's so damn popular nobody seems to care." He said with a disgusted face. "He wouldn't cheat on me, Niall." I said, hoping to convince him along with myself. I didn't want to believe the things he was saying.

"Yeah okay. But when you walk around the corner and see him snogging some other girl, I'll be waiting as your shoulder to cry on." He sighed. He mumbled so quietly I could barely hear him, "I guess that's all I'll ever be.."

We'd gotten off the topic, laughing as we walked up the stares back to Louis'. The alcohol had worn off, he was pretty much back to his 'old self'. When we walked in, we saw everyone sitting in a circle, except for Liam and Harry who were talking right by the walk-in kitchen. Everyone was cheering, watching some make out session in the middle of the floor. I recognized it was Marilyn right away, and started chuckling. Oooof course, I thought to myself.

I couldn't see who the guy was, his back was towards me and Niall and his hood was up. As they pulled apart, everyone started to cheer and laugh. "Who's the guy?" I asked loudly, turning to Niall. He looked down at me, back up at the guy and had a sort of confused looked. His smile slowly faded and grabbed back onto my shoulders.

I tried to ask him what was wrong, but he pulled me with him out to the hallway before I could get any words out. The guy must've heard me and Niall's conversation and turned around, I barely got a glance at him. But it was enough to instantly now recognize exactly who Marilyn had been kissing.

That was my boyfriend.
