Old Friends New Life (Completed)

Hello, my name is Ruby. I was best friends with Liam all throughout secondary school. Yes, THE Liam Payne. When he left at the end of year 11 to audition for X-Factor again I supported him fully. We stayed in contact for a while but in the end just kind of drifted. We haven't contacted in a year and let alone seen each other in nearly 2. Fancy running into him on the night I ran away of all nights. You see my dad died of cancer but I never told Liam. My mum was depressed and when Anthony came along he was really nice. Mum was so masked by their 'love' that she didn't listen when I told her of all the abuse he gave me. Things didn't help when he got her pregnant. I decided to run away in the end. That was enough, I couldn't cope with anything anymore. I went to the river and was standing on the bridge, about to jump...

29. 3 Weeks From The Big Day

Ruby's P.O.V

Three weeks before the wedding and I was freaking out. Everything was booked and ready, the venue, the photographer, the band, the caterers. Everything. Yet I was still freaking out, going over the list over and over again both mentally in my head and physically on the paper on the wall of the living room. I'd got my dress a couple months ago and that was being kept at Beth's place so that Liam - or any of the other boys for that matter - wouldn't see it. Liam had gone out and got his suit along with Danny's.

"Babe calm down, everything is going to be fine." I felt arms slip around my waist from behind and soft lips kiss my neck. Liam. His lips travelled up and down my neck before he turned me around and met my own lips. I kissed back immediately and things got heated pretty fast. We only pulled apart when we heard Shelby screaming our names from down the hall. Shelby was around eight months pregnant now and was basically due any time, and Danny was now one and a half years old along with the event of Niall and Bella getting back together which was always going to happen really.

"Ruby! Liam!" We both looked at each other with wide eyes and legged it down to the film room at the back of the bottom floor. Either she was going into labour or Daniel was hurt. I didn't really want to think about either option. As we got closer we could hear the cries of our baby son and my pace kicked up. I guess that answered my question about what was wrong. As soon as I crashed through the door I went straight over to the floor and picked Daniel up, cradling him close to my body as I rocked him from side to side gently and tried to stop his tears.

"Shhh" I continued to move from leg to leg, "What's wrong baby?" I asked. I was simply answered with some more cries and tried to guess what was wrong instead. "Are you feeling unwell?" A shake of the head. "Did you hurt yourself?" A nod. "Whereabouts?" I could see Liam reaching out his arms as he offered to take Daniel from me but I just shook my head. Meanwhile, Daniel's tears slowed and he was left hiccupping as he pointed to his knee where a graze was. It looked sore as it was red and bleeding a little so I gave him to Liam and led them both upstairs to the bathroom. Liam sat Danny in his lap as I got a flannel out and dipped it in cold water in the sink.

"Mummy that hurts!" I simply kissed Danny's head in response as a couple more tears escaped his eyes and I continued to dab his little knee carefully. Liam asked what happened and our little boy spoke up in his little voice. "Auntie Shelby was playing with me and I fell off the seat on the floor." We managed to figure that he was on the couch in the film room and slipped off onto the carpet. I wasn't too worried as it wasn't very far to fall as the couch was especially low down for film use and it probably wouldn't happen again. Once I cleaned his knee up I placed a peppa pig plaster on it and kissed it before he then slipped off Liam's lap and made his way precariously down the stairs as he dragged his hand across the wall where there was now a permanent trail of handprints where he had gone up and down before.

"How are we going to cope with two?" Liam whispered in my ear and his hands grazed my abdomen as we watched like eagles that Danny made his way down the stairs alright. I chuckled lightly and shoved him away playfully. We hadn't told anyone we were trying for another baby yet and we weren't going to properly try until after the wedding, we just stopped using contraception again a few months ago. For a few minutes the two of us just stood there in our own thoughts. Who knows where Liam's were but mine were drifting back to the wedding, imagining Liam in his tux and Danny with his little suit on. Much like he was when Liam proposed on stage.

I couldn't wait to officially be Ruby Payne. I could finally marry out of my family into one I have always loved. I will be with the man I love and he will be mine and only mine. The fans had been so supportive too, congratulating us and wishing us luck with everything along with begging that we tweet some pictures of the wedding. Of course there was some hate, but I didn't care. Liam was mine and he only wanted me, they were just jealous which was completely understandable. What has made me feel better though is the thought that there is still someone out there for every single one of them and they won't feel this way forever. Liam has totally changed the way I think. I have been self-harm free for six months now which is the longest time ever and I hope to stay that way. What definitely helped was finding a family for my little sister. She was nearly two now and the first time I saw her she was one. She looked just like mum and nothing like the monster so I was able to be a proper sister to her. I look after her one day and night every week where she plays with Daniel. It was all working out and it was just the beginning of my brand new life.
