1. *Prologue*

Today was the day Liam was going to leave me. Why? We both have no idea. Liam's parents said it was because Karen got a new job in London, (Liam and I were so close, that we just called each others mum's by their actual name).

When they first brought up the idea, I immediately thought that Liam could live with us, but his parents politely said no. I don't understand why though, we had an extra room in the house. Due to an accident that happened, (my mummy had a miscarriage for my supposed to be baby brother). Plus, my parents loved him as if he was their own child... Liam just can't leave me!

So today, I was losing my best friend. But 10 minutes before he had to leave forever, we were still sitting up in the highest part of my tree house with our legs hanging over the edge. My head was on Liam's shoulder, in a friendly way of course. We are only 9!

"I love your sandy brown hair" Liam says, taking a lock of my hair and twirling it in his fingers. "And your eyes" he whispers, his chocolate brown orbs staring directly into my grey ones.

"Let's not forget your military cut and poop brown eyes" I say, ruffling his non existent luscious hair. Then both of us went into a fit of giggles due to my remark.

"5 MORE MINUTES BEFORE WE HAVE TO GO LIAM!" I heard Karen scream from across the street. "OKAY!" Liam screamed back.

I just clutched onto him, not wanting to let go, hoping these 5 minutes last forever. But I spoke too soon.

"LIAM IT'S TIME TO GO!" Karen yelled, hopping into the SUV in front of the moving box truck.

"No, you can't leave" I whisper, following Liam as he makes his way down. We walk to the SUV waiting to leave, when Liam stops me.

"Brooke?" Liam asked, turning to look at me.

"Yeah?" I asked, lifting my head off of his shoulder to look up at him.

"Promise me something?" he asked again.

"Anything Li-Li" I smiled slightly, using the nickname I gave him for god knows how long.

"We have to keep in touch, no matter what. Also, always follow your dreams" Liam says, his lips trying to frown, but he can't while looking at me for some reason.

"Of course!" I said, throwing my arms around him. He wrapped his arm loosely around my waist. I left silent tears running down my cheeks and I put my head on Liam's shoulder, wetting his t-shirt sleeve.

"And one more thing B?" Liam asked, using his index finger to tilt my head up to look at him. He just used my nickname for me, and it's probably going to be the last time I'm ever going to hear him say that. Live to me.

"Yes?" I questioned once again, to keep a promise to my Li-Li, one that I will never break. Because that's the type of person I am.

"I like you so much right now, so who knows what will happen in future years. When we get older, I know we will fall in love, I can feel it in here," Liam says, tapping his chest, right where his heart is and continued. "We will get married some day, have perfect little children that will be our own, promise?" Liam asked.

With Liam's index finger still under my chin, he leaned in and pecked my lips. He was my first ever kiss, and I was his. For some reason, it felt awkward, yes because we were only 9, but it also felt oddly pleasant. I found Liam cute. He had a short buzz cut and he still had a little bit of baby fat. But still adorable.

"Promise" I said. I knew I could keep this promise because I too, could feel it in my heart.
