6. Oh God...

*Brooke POV*

I ran back to work. I didn't want to deal with this anymore. Liam broke the promise that he promised to keep. I mean yes, it was stupid of me to believe that he would actually keep that promise, but I couldn't help but hold on. Liam seemed like the person who would keep a promise, no matter what age we were when we made it, or what the promise was. I guess I misjudged him...

Hearing the bell jingle as I walked through the door, I saw that the crowd died down a lot. There were only a few people scattered around the small book store. Wiping my eyes, I grabbed my snap back, and went around trying to help people. Maddy came up to me and put a helping hand onto my shoulder. She gave me a meaningful look that was bearing into my soul.

"What went on between you and Liam?" she questions.

"Nothing..." I mumbled, turning towards the shelf looking for books that were out of order.

"Liar" Maddy narrowed her eyes. Then I just let it all out. I couldn't keep it from her, she was my best friend, my only best friend. I started to sob onto her shoulder and everyone was giving us weird looks. She rubbed my back and was saying comforting things like "it's okay, he's no use anyway." Then she said something I never expected.

"Maybe he was right. You shouldn't have been hung up on this. It WAS 9 years ago, when you guys were 9! Promises at that age are like impossible to keep, especially one like that. Do you really think that he would wait until he met up with you? What if you guys never met up!" she explained. I guess she was right, but I just didn't want to believe it. I mean, Liam doesn't seem like the person to break a promise. I don't even know what to believe anymore. Granny Jane came up from behind the book shelf and put her hand on my shoulder.

"Honey, please go home. Eat some Ben&Jerry's and have a nice hot bath. Take the rest of the day off. See you tomorrow" she said in a sweet tone, giving me sympathy. I wiped the salty tears with the back of my hoodie sleeve.

"But I requested tomorrow off. I have a dance audition" I choked out in between shaky breathes.

"Oh that's right sweetie. Sorry, this old brain of mine just doesn't work properly sometimes" Granny Jane replied with a wink. This made me smile slightly, but I was still trying to control my breathing once again. I could feel the tear streaks stained on my cheeks. Maddy guided me outside and to my car. She opens my door for me and buckles me in.

"You know I can do this for myself" I retorted, smirking slightly.

"I know, but I am just doing it because I just am" she said, starting my engine. She rolled down the window, then shut the door. Maddy leaned up against the door, her hands folded over the place where the window should be rolled up.

"Just take it easy for the rest of the day okay? Maybe practice for your dance, huh? That always calms you down" Maddy said, hitting the car slightly and standing straight.

"Yeah, yeah, true" I nod, waving bye to my best friend. She waved back and I started my trek back to my house. I put on the radio and of course, what do I hear, ONE FRICKING DIRECTION!

"And here we are with Little Things by One Direction!!!" the radio host announces and the song starts. I love this song, but would it be a good time to listen to it? Sure why not....

Your hand fits in mine like it's made just for me

But bear this in mind it was meant for me

And I'm joining up the dots with the freckles on your cheeks

And it all makes sense to me

I know you've never loved the crinkles by your eyes

When you smile you've never loved your stomach or your thighs

The dimples in your back at the bottom of your spine

But I'll love them endlessly

I won't let these little things

Slip out of my mouth

But if I do

It's you

Oh It's you, they add up to

I'm in love with you

And all these little things

You can't go to bed

Without a cup of tea

And maybe that's the reason

That you talk in your sleep

And all those conversations

Are the secrets that I keep

Though it makes no sense to me

I know you've never loved

The sound of your voice on tape

You never want to know how much you weigh

You still have to squeeze into your jeans

But you're perfect to me

I won't let these little things

Slip out of my mouth

But if I do

It's you

Oh It's you, they add up to

I'm in love with you

And all these little things

You'll never love yourself half as much as I love you

And you'll never treat yourself right darlin' but I want you to

If I let you know

I'm here

For you

Maybe you'll love yourself like I love you

Oh

And Ive just let these little things

Slip out of my mouth

Cuz' it's you

Oh it's you

It's you they add up to

And I'm in love with you

And all these little things

I won't let these little things slip out of my mouth

But if it's true

It's you

It's you they add up to

I'm in love with you

and all your little things

"And there's One Direction for you! Next song..." the song ended and I pulled up to my driveway. It was empty, as always, when I pulled in. My Dad passed away when I was 13 with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, also known as COPD. He worked in a run down factory that always emitted toxic fumes. He was committed to his work place, and wouldn't leave. He got a heavy case of COPD, and died within 3 months of having the disease. My mom and I lived alone for 5 years, and when I turned 18, she left. I understood, I mean, she still visits like every other month. It's not like she left because she doesn't love me. She is teaching me responsibility, leaving me to work on my own.

Getting into the house, I stripped off my clothes and put on my robe. Throwing my hair, in a messy bun and started up the hot bath. I put my iPhone on my iHome and blasted my dance music. As I took off my robe and slipped into the tub, I relaxed, and played the dance in my head. I hope the routine is good enough to make the audition. Slowly, I fell into a deep sleep.

It didn't feel like long until I walk up to the immediate different tone of the song. It went from a classical easy, flowy song to a heavy metal screamo song. I don't even listen to this crap! Why is it on here!? I jumped quickly in the air out of the tub, and fell flat onto my face. I groaned in pain and stood up, pulling on my robe. I rubbed my forehead, pulling out my iPhone from it's dock, and setting an alarm for 7:00 in the morning. The audition was at 9:00, but I still needed to get there and practice and everything. I hit the hay and fell sleep immediately.

***************************************************************************************************************************************

Waking up with a jolting start to Piano Riff, I quickly got up and took a nice hot shower. Getting ready, I had my headphones in listening to my routine music. This could be a big break for me, and I need all the money I can get. I want to show my mom I can have a stable job that pays. I need to get this routine down to the facial expressions and straight legs. This all mattered.

Even on the car ride there, I was kind of jumping in my seat, listening to my music. Once again. This audition was in a gigantic dance studio, the biggest in Wolverhampton. This audition must be big.... Oh god. Here comes the nerves. The nerves of not making it. I'm going to fail, oh my god. Oh help me. Please God, help me, this isn't going to work. Wait, I need to calm down. 'Stop worrying Brooke, you're great at dancing. You have been doing this since you were 3, this back up dancer part is all yours' is all I kept telling myself.

Finally, I arrived at the dance studio. I grabbed my giant duffel bag and took my phone out from it. Walking towards the entrance, I looked at my new text messages. 8 of them. All from Liam.

Hey, I'm sorry.

Can you please respond? I'm sorry.

I didn't mean to hurt you.

I'm sorry if I ruined your love life by keeping you waiting.

You shouldn't have waited for me.

Sorry to break the promise. Please respond?

Good luck on your dance audition tomorrow.

See you there.

Wait, why did the last one say see you there??? I  couldn't grasp the idea that he was going to be here? Was he supporting me? IS HE HERE!? Oh god... And the nerves come back. I lock my phone and slip it back into my bag. Opening the door, I stop in my tracks. There was a sign on the door.

"One Direction back up dancers needed! Auditions today!"

Oh god. That's what Liam meant. I am auditioning to be HIS back up dancer!  What if Danielle is here!? She is a dancer too, I know since I looked her up on the car way home yesterday. She is gorgeous, but I think he could do better. I mean, yeah i guess Payzer is kind of cute, but it's not... right. It doesn't work. I sighed and continued my way through the door. The rest of this audition should be fun.
