2. Chapter 1

It started out like any other day. I got up and did my usual morning routine and got ready for school. I noticed that things were awfully quiet, which never happens, around my house. I just kept on, thinking that maybe my parents had slept in.

My name is Brooke Jacobson. I'm 18 and basically, I'm just your normal teenage girl. I hang out with my friends, go to the mall, all that normal "teenager" stuff.

But that all changed when I walked into my parents bedroom on that cold March morning.

I was rushing to get to school, considering that my mom didn't wake me up and now I needed my dad to drive me. I noticed something really strange on my trip down the stairs; my father'a usual morning cup of coffee was not cooking, none of the lights were on, and no one was up besides me.

I rushed into my parents room and went on my moms side first.

"Mom! Wake up or I'm gonna be late for school!" I shook her many times while jumping around. Nothing.

I walked around to my dad's side and tried him too. Still nothing.

My parents were really never ones to be heavy sleepers, they would wake up from hearing a pen drop.

I ripped the covers off of them and stumble back.

Bullet wounds.

Straight through both of their chests.

I ran out of the room, big mistake.

Two very large men with their backs turned to me were standing in my living room.

I tried to creep back up my stairs, but being the clumsy one that I am, tripped over the first step.

I dashed up the stairs as fast as I could, but the men were faster.

I made it to my room just in enough time I lock it. I used all the power that I had in my body to push my Chester drawers in front of the door.

I had little time to think about what to do next.

The door, no. The wall, what? The window....that was it!

The problem was, I lives in a two-story house. I was going to have to jump.

I opened up the window, and climbed through. I eased my way onto the roof and closed the window back.

I walked along the roof for a while until I saw that the men had left. I scaled the side of the house until I got to ground.

Now I had to find somewhere to go. But where? Everyone I knew was at school and at least two hours had just passed. There was one person that I knew would help me. Zayn.
