Death Trap

I pulled the trigger…

Eight years ago Saffron Bridges’ parents died in a fire and her brother was murdered, as far as she knows… Now she has entered a deadly game and there can only be one winner, one wrong move and it’s all over. She must uncover the truth about her past and what really happened to her family.

Guns. Money. Drugs. They all lead to one thing... Death.

It was over. I was finally safe.

Or was I…?

No. I wasn’t going to think like that. I couldn’t think like that. Meyers was dead. I could get on with the rest of my life. Couldn’t I? Could I get out of the gang business? Would they let me go?

Saph!” Jared’s voice rang loud and clear on the other side of the bedroom door.

It’s me. Open up. Now!” he yelled frantically.

What was his problem? He opened the door before I could open it for him.

Jared! Do you mind?!” I said annoyed.

Forget about me bursting into your room. We need to get out of here. We need to leave right now,” he panted. He sounded like he had run a marathon.

What’s up with you?” I asked puzzled.

Saph, we have to go now. Please just come with me. I’ll explain later.”

Jay… I don’t know. I don’t understand.” I frowned.

Saffron please.”

I didn’t move. What was wrong with him?

He looked scared out of his mind. Something was happening. There was something that he wasn’t telling me. It felt like my head was going to explode.

Saph,” he said. “D’you trust me?”

I looked into his eyes. They looked so sad and lonely. Did I trust him? Could I trust him? I bit my lip in thought.

D’you Saph?”

Seconds went by.

It felt like years

I hated this. Feeling like I wasn’t in control.

Saph, d’you trust me?

I nodded. He held out his hand and smiled.

D’you trust me?

The question rang loud and clear through my head. Had I made the right choice? It was too late now.

D’you Saph?

Was there anyone left to trust?

Jay what’s taking so long?” I sighed exasperated.

Just a few more minutes. Hold on,” he replied. He had that worried note in his voice again.

The last hour had been torture. Jared had ‘borrowed’ a car and was driving us to his lock up somewhere near the compound. I thought it would take at least fifteen to twenty minutes not a bloody hour. That’s what happens when you get stuck in traffic. Jesus. Where the hell are we? Time went quickly and before we knew it, it was eight o’clock. It was a very dark night.

Just like the night you killed Samuel Meyers

Stop it. He deserved that. Didn’t he? Stop it! Even weeks after what had happened and I still couldn’t forget about it. Damn, I was messed up.S

We’re here, Saph,” Jared muttered.

Hell, he was messed up too!

He quickly led me to the door and we went inside.

Hello,” a voice said.

This was just great. How the hell did he get in here? Damn it. I remembered I’d given him a key a while back; after he taught me how to drive. Damn it. I knew why he was here. Vanessa was probably dead. He hadn’t gotten whatever it was that he wanted from her. He looked pissed. His anger was about to be taken out on us. I knew what I had to do.
