Break Up. Poems. Obviously.

These are poems mostly about separation and breakdown but this is not a depressing collection - defiance and hope weave their way through the poems.

1. A House

It was not so much a house
as a void of love, roofed,
endured, an existence of vapour,
ghosts knocking on the walls
from parasites that gnawed and chewed
and spewed, oh how they grew fat
and friended, eating on the blood of you,
the fibrous former whose nails
grew long and scratched,
many times scratched a way through
cheeks and bones and Tupperware.
Tupperware? That was, was you,
plastic, lidded, lashed, kept fresh.
We opened a flower-head for two.
