3. Chapter 3

When I woke up it was around dinner time. I was starving, I hadn't eaten since breakfast. I jumped out of bed and I slowly walked down to the kitchen. My eyes widen, and nearly popped out of my head when I smelt something delicious when I had only made it down the stairs. I started running towards the kitchen eagerly, once I got there my mom stood over the stove stirring something inside a small pot. "Food?" I asked her.

    "Yes Lexi, food."

"What kind of food?" I ask settling onto a stool at the counter.

"Food that you will eat." She replied.

Oh no, I was not in the mood for these child games. "Mother, I will ask you one more time before I come over there and eat it all. What kind of food?"

She laughed, "Pasta." I nodded and relaxed in my seat. But I was slowly growing impatient,my stomach was making awful noises and it felt as if I hadn't eaten in days. My mom seemed to notice the noises my stomach had been making and started to laugh once again.

"I guess you are hungry." She said in a light tone. I roll my eyes,

"Was it that obvious?" I joke back.

"Well, you're in luck because it's done!" She says. She scoops put the contents from the pan onto two plates. She hands me one, along with a fork, and she sits down next to me.

I thank her and start eating like a mad woman, I felt my mom roll her eyes at me. But I didn't care, I was starving. It was as if someone locked me in a prison cell for two weeks and hadn't fed me.

Once I was done eating I set my dishes in the sink and just stood there. I wasn't really sure what to do, I was bored. There wasn't much to do.

My mom noticed me standing there so of course she suggests that I go outside. I groaned and slowly climbed up the stairs to my room and slipped on some sneakers and grabbed my phone. I really hadn't gone outside of the house, I knew there was a pool but that was it. I wondered if we had any neighbors that were my age.

I flew down the stairs and raced outside, I walked out of the gates and headed down the street. There were a few houses scattered along the street. As I walked by one I heard people yelling, them a teenage girl came storming out of the house.

"You can't control my life!" She screamed at the open door.

"You are my daughter! I sure can!"

"NO!" The girl started running towards the sidewalk, nearly crashing into me. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention." She said with sorrow in her voice.

"Oh, it's fine." I said with a smile, "What's your name?"

      "Rebecca, you?"

"Lexi, I just moved here." I pointed towards my house.

"Ah, yeah I saw the moving truck yesterday."

"Yup, just took a tour of the school this morning."

"It's pretty big, but school isn't my favorite place."

      "Ha, mine either."

A car pulled up in her driveway and the person inside the car honked the horn. It looked like a boy around our age, "I'm sorry Lexi, but I have to go. I'll see you around." She called over her shoulder as she hurried to climb into the passenger seat of the car.

Later that night I was in my room texting Alexandra, she seemed really cool. We arranged to hang out tomorrow at the mall that was close by. I was glad I wouldn't be starting school not knowing anyone. We would get some clothes for the new school year and have lunch. I missed doing that with my old friends,  I was a little home sick. I missed my friends and my dad so much. But I would probably never really see my friends again. Of course I would see my dad, just in the summer and every long break from school. Before we left he promised me that during Christmas he would take me to Florida and we could spend a week there. I was so excited. I would be lounging in a chair by the pool, or beach. Wherever I decide we will be that day.

I got ready for bed and climbed into bed, I was just dreaming of all the wonderful things I would do this Christmas....
