Good-bye in One Year

Sage Jolie is a junior at her high school. She has a pretty normal life until one night when her and her boyfriend get into a car wreck. She comes out with a broke arm and a couple of stitches but he's not so lucky. As they do his blood work, they find out that he has cancer. There is nothing they can do for him and he ends up dying one month later. She feels like her whole life is over until she finds a box of letters under his bed addressed to her. He wrote her everything single day for a whole year. This letters send her on a trip pf a lifetime to help her find herself and live without him even though she isn't ready to say those last words... Good-bye

6. Bowling Champ

It was Saturday morning when I read his letter. It pulled at my heart. I placed it back neatly in the box then rose from my floor. I had friends. I had a life outside of school. I was just taking a break from all of it. I just needed some time and space for myself.

I walked out of my room into the tiny little living room of our one story, two bedroom house. My dad left us two years ago. We lost our two story house that fit us perfect and moved into the run down part of our town. The house was uglier on the outside than the inside but we didn't have the money to fix it up like we wanted to. Jack and I shared a room but her preferred to sleep in the living room for some reason. When I walked in, her gave me a big grin then started playing with his trucks. He was a pretty crazy kid but he had his cute moments.

I was about to sit down next to him when my mom walked in with Luke trailing behind her. My mouth dropped. What was he doing here? Yeah, he drove me to school and back everyday and sometimes we talked in class but we didn't hang out or anything.

"Sage, look who's here! Luke! I didn't know you guys were friends again!" My mom clapped her hands.

Luke and I use to be a lot closer to each other until he became the man slut he is today. We had this history together that I didn't want to relive. I wanted him out of my life personally but I kept in mind what Samuel wrote.

"Mom, can you excuse Luke and me for a second?" I asked, my voice on edge.

"Of course honey but keep the door to your room cracked. Luke, it was nice seeing you." She smiled at him making me roll my eyes. Did he seriously have an effect on everyone?

"You too Mrs. Greene!" He said in a charming voice. I could just choke right now.

"Oh Luke, call me Helen." She laughed.

Oh, hell no. I grabbed Luke by his collar shirt and dragged him my room before him or my mom could say another word. I tossed him in the room then closed the door.

"Woah princess, the door is closed all the way I wouldn't want you to take advantage of me." He started to laugh then he stopped. His face became serious and he looked at me with concern. "I'm sorry princess, I forgot..."

I rolled my eyes trying not to cry, "Forgot? Funny Luke. What do you want?"

"Lets go bowling" He said. He sat on my bed then gave me a wild smile. His teeth were so white and perfect. His eyes sent chills down my arms. If he wasn't such an ass, I would really consider him as... Well. Hot. He wasn't bad looking at all. He was very tall for his age. He was almost 6'5" tops. He had muscles in the right places making him that filled out his tight black shirt. His hair was a deep brown color. It was shaved off on the sides but log on the top. He styled it to make it look messy like he just rolled out of bed but the truth was, he took way longer in the bathroom then I did.

"Bowling? I haven't been bowling sine I was ten!" I crossed my arms.

"So?" He said. He jumped off my bed then rummaged in my closet.

"I haven't bowled in six years." I turned to face him.

He pulled out a pair a jeans from the dresser I put in there and then a sweatshirt I didn't even know I had. He stared at it for a moment then started to laugh. He tossed a pair of my boots with the outfit then smiled.

"Don't make me dress you." He teased.

I rolled my eyes and pointed at the door.

"It's not like I haven't seen it before." He laughed.

I punched his chest playfully and pointed at the door again. He pouted his bottom lip then headed for the door. Once he was out, I put on the outfit he picked out, not even caring if it matched or not. My hair was in messy curls and I left it alone. I put on very little makeup then left my room.

Luke was on the floor next to Jack playing trucks with him. I leaned on the door frame and smiled. This reminded me so much of Sam. He would play with Jack for hours but Jack looked happier with Luke. Luke just seemed to get him. My smile faded.

"Ready?" I asked.

Luke nodded and we left. We didn't talk the whole ride to the bowling ally. I looked over at him. If he wasn't such a man slut, this would be so different. If he didn't turn into an ass, would we still be friends like before? I really don't even know what changed him... Well... Deep inside of me I had an idea but it was a long shot.

"Take a picture princess, it will last longer." He gave me a cheesy smile. I rolled my eyes and faced the front of the jeep.

Luke's P.O.V

I watched as she put on her bowling shoes. She still hasn't noticed that the sweat shirt she wore use to be mine. I gave it to her the night that everything seemed to go to shit. The next day, she started dating Samuel and I started dating many, many other girls but none were like her. No one was like Sage. She was so girly then she was a tomboy. She was hot then cold. She was happier than a clown then shittier then a monkey who got his banana stolen. She was just so different. Sam saw it. I saw it. Look who won her over.

I shook my head. I couldn't think of her like that anymore. I was suppose to be her friend for Sam but she was jut so pretty, not even the normal pretty. She wasn't drop dead gorgeous, she was the kind of pretty that was inside and out. Nothing like Nat or Sasha or Danielle or any of those bubble head girls.

"Lets make this interesting," I said, a smile crossed my lips.

Sage eyed me, "What do you have in mind?"

"Just a little bet." I grinned.

She took a moment to think about it and smiled, "You're on! If I win, then you have to do whatever I say for a week."

I nodded, "And if I win, then you have to be my salve."

She held out her hand and we shook on it. Psh, I had this. She hasn't bowled in six years, I just came her last week with Teddy. I had this one in the bag. Sage was up first. I leaned back in the chair, super confident. I watched as she rolled the ball down the ally and then the clash of the pins. Strickkkk!

My mouth dropped.

"I was the junior champion when I was ten. I still got it!" She smiled and blew on her knuckles. Yep, I was in trouble.
