Katy finds out her dream came true, literally.

1. Always wanting that special place

My name is Katy, I'm 13 and ever since I was about 8 years old I've been exploring the many acres surrounding my cottage in northern Wisconsin. I knew all the of turns, the trees, and the occasional tree stand from a former relative. I loved walking deep in the woods where it was just me and the animals. Where I could sing, whether I was good or not. And where I wouldn't be judged by anything. When I was out there it was the real me, and that's what I liked so much about it. There's always been that one place on our land that I've always had a weird feeling about, in fact I was almost scarred of it. I never ventured off into that part of the woods. I walked around it, or just avoided it all together. I didn't know why I was scarred of it, I just was. I went to bed that night and dreamed about a place I called Toforge. Everything was always perfect there, little men and farries. Basically a mythical wonderland. Candy cane walkways little fawns prancing around. Of course, every place like that had a dark side, but I woke up before my dream was over.

I woke up early on this day in July. I liked going out early in the morning, when the dew was still on the ground and the mist was still in the air. This was when a lot of the animals came out, like the frogs and birds. I put on my big sweatshirt and shorts, filling a drawstring backpack with my ipod, a water bottle, notebook/pens, ect. I went out barefoot so I could literally feel the Earth as I walked. I walked to a small beach I had discovered on the side of the lake and sat down on it, putting my toes in the water. I took out my ipod and played a quiet song to go along with the mood. I could see the boys camp across the lake just waking up for the day. I saw some people canoeing, and loons swimming singing their peaceful song. I took out my notebook and opened to the next clear page. I wrote:

July 17, 2013 6:14 am. I have a good feeling about today, just the way the loons are singing and the fog is setting. The was the camp is brewing, today is going to be a good day. I go off to a camp of my own pretty soon and I want to find something special in these woods-like an old cabin or something cool like that. I have the whole day to explore so I'd better get started.

I put the notebook back into the backpack and stood up. I guess today was the day I found what I was so scarred about. I guess today was the day I went off into that part of the woods where I had never been.
