He Stole My Heart.

This is my first One Direction fanfic! I hope ya'll like it, and that I get facts right and everything. I am a fan, but not like one of the hugest super-fans who knows every little detail about the boys lives. Enjoy!!!
Alex is on her way to work one day when her car breaks down. She has no idea what to do, so while sitting on the hood of her car trying to get a hold of anyone who can come get her, a black car with tinted windows pulls up. She immediately thinks to run or fight off the person who is stepping out. But to her surprise, its not a total stranger....

5. The Day without Niall

I got up early, and because Natalie and I had the same final this morning, she would be picking me up. But, I had to spend all day on campus. No one would be able to take me anywhere in between testing sessions. I showered, ate a breakfast burrito and grabbed my testing supplies (wrist watch, a bag of wood pencils, and my brown lunch bag full of clementines). On my way out the door, I grabbed my phone from the counter and waited until my watch struck exactly 7:30. Then I pulled open the front door, running over all my notes from the past four years of my studies. This test would take 3 and a half hours, 2 for multiple choice and 1:30 for open response questions. I needed to get at least a 75% to overall pass and a 90% to get the highest awarding diploma.

I then had 3 more after this. The second would start at exactly 12:30, and the third right after the second starting at 2:30. I would have lunch at 11:45, and get to the next test by 12:20. Natalie could take me home at 5:30, when her final test lets out, but I told Niall if he wanted to (or could) he could pick me up at 4. He would text me during lunch when they knew for sure their rehearsal times for the concert in a couple days. I was going with a group of friends, but I didn't want to tell him. I didn't want him to think I was just saying I love him back because I am a fan who wants in.

We arrived at the school. We had stopped at Starbucks to get some coffee and bagels. We then both hurried to the testing site, making it by five minutes. We took our assigned seats, and after the tests were all passed out, began the tedious task in front of us.

I checked my watch regularly, making sure I had plenty of time left. With the amount of questions, I knew I had just under a minute per question. So I worked quickly on the ones I knew well to allow for extra time on ones with math or that I had to think through. Finishing over all with ten spare minutes, I checked all my math and unsure questions, also making sure I answered all of them by counting off the bubbles on the answer sheet. Natalie wasn't as lucky and finished with just enough time to make sure she answered all her questions using the same strategy as I did. We took no time at all begging the next part of the test. I had three questions to answer, two with three parts and one with two parts. I knocked out the simple two part question allowing for 45 minutes on each of the other two questions, or 35 on each and 20 to check each and make edits. It took me 40 on the second, but only 25 on the third. So I went and checked all three twice before deciding it was perfect for me. I set my pen down, stretching my aching hand. I could tell Natalie just finished right when time was up. We didn't stick around for long. I gave her some of my fruit, because she had to head right off to her next test.

I walked over to the cafeteria and bought a salad and an iced tea. I turned on my phone right as Niall dialed me, right on time.

"Hello love" he started "I have some good news and some bad news, which would you like to hear first?"

"The bad. That way the good news will help cheer me up after the bad"

"Okay. Well, bad news is I can't see you at all today, unless you can stay out past 10:30. Good news is, I was able to get a whole day off tomorrow, since Saturday is the concert, and we need to be rested up."

"That's okay. I can wait around for Natalie. I need to talk to some teachers about job applications anyway. But I can't wait to spend all Saturday with you. It'll be amazing. Maybe we can go to the awesome mini golf thing my uncle runs-"

"That sounds great but I have to go right now. Talk to you later if I can love. I love you so much"

"I love you too." Was all I could get in before he hung up. It seemed the life of being a famous singer was always filled with busy days and then the days off. Nothing too much in between. I had finished my lunch a little earlier than I had planned, so I took my time going to my next testing site. The second and third test were in the same room, so I would have some time to just sit, review and stretch my hand.

[3 and a half hours later]

The last tests were pretty easy to my surprise. I packed up all my stuff, grabbing one of the clementines and heading off to my main professor's office. Her name was Nora Adell, a super-model tall and gorgeous middle aged African-American lady with three kids. She was raised in Alabama by her grandmother, since her mom died when she was 2. She made a life for herself, despite being around 7 other siblings and having a drug addicted father. She was the only one of her brothers and sisters to complete college and earn a high paying job. I looked up to her a lot.

"Hi Dr. Adell" (She had a doctorate in business finance and a Phd. in Political science.) "I was just wondering if you had those job applications in for me. Although, I might have to wait to fill them out. My hand will ache for the rest of the day at least."

"I certainly do Alex. They were me top priority as far as my end of semester to-do list. I got five from different businesses and three for recording companies in need to new business consultants." Wow. She truly did have connections.

"Thank you so much Dr. Adell. You are a life saver."

"Anything to help out my favorite student. You are going to be big one day. And I get to take most of the credit...."

"That is fine with me. You deserve 99% of the credit. I was just interested in the subject that first day. You have made me an expert." We finished going on about all our great times, but I had to go. Natalie would be done now, and will be waiting for me by the car.

"Hey slow poke. I see you have some more work to do before we FINALLY graduate. That took forever, but I can't believe we are done. We were baby freshman like yesterday." Natalie made a sniffling sound as we climbed in, and I laughed.

"Do you remember that time that we were in class, and you were so tired because you stayed up all night with Jason-"

"Don't bring it up again!!!! But that was an awesome night. I wouldn't have taken it back for anything."

"Even the part where Professor White had everyone get up and leave, set the clock forward six hours AND tinted the windows just so you would think you would be locked in school for the rest of the night."

"That was just mean. I can't believe you participated in that you little poop." We were driving back now. We are stopping for frozen yogurt, when I get a text message from Niall.
'I can see you tomorrow from 2:30-4, but not later or earlier. We have a meeting with Simon over the concert song selection and some wardrobe changes. I would invite you, but it would be really boring for you. Trust me. Even Zayn skips out for a nap halfway through.'
'Sounds great. As long as I get to see you at SOME point. Talk to you later.'
'See you tomorrow, Love.'

"Why are you smiling like that?" Natalie's question pulled me out of my small trance caused by the small conversation between Niall and I.

"No reason. I'm just happy to have some frozen yogurt finally. I haven't had any spare money lately."

"Okay. Hopefully you get a better paying job soon." We drove to my house in silence after that. It was now six, but I was already exhausted. I took off to my kitchen area upstairs to make myself some much needed dinner. When I was happy with my decision of pasta, I went back downstairs to talk to my mom because it would take a while for the pasta to cook. But, of course, the one person I see downstairs is the last one I want to see right now.

"What are you doing down here? Your mom is in the bedroom, getting ready for our special evening. So she can't talk if that's what you're after." He is so gross. I hate Jack. He isn't even in love with my mom. He just thinks she's hot. I glare at him as I head toward their bedroom door, but he calls after me before I can get halfway there. "Alecia, there is no reason to disturb her." That stopped me in my tracks, but the next part is what made me snap. "She only loves me. She told me last night that after your pathetic daddy died, she wished she could get rid of you. You made her sad, made her drink and get on that bad path. All that was because of Y.O.U" Tears were flowing down my face now. Not because I was sad, but because I was pissed off.

"SHUT THE HELL UP! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING!!!!" I screamed back at him. He seemed to be faking shock, but I could see the smugness underneath. My mom came running out, wondering what my outburst was about, but I didn't stick around to hear that losers excuse. I stormed upstairs trying to get away from him as fast as I could. I pulled my phone out of my pocket, and realized that Niall had called me, and my phone answered. I must have pressed the button by accident.

"How much of that did you hear?" Silent tears started to fall again.
