Chapter 7

The Sketch

Sasha’s POV

The girls in the car were quiet. At lunch, we were always the smallest but loudest table. Now, everyone was immersed in their own activities. I was sketching Liam, my favorite boy from One Direction, hoping to have a nice sketch when I was finished and maybe a chance to give it to him. I’d started it right after Aria had told us they’d be opening for Ed.

The past couple weeks at school had been stressful, full of finals, tests, and drama. I’d just had a little boy trouble, but with tonight, a great concert I could only have imagined I’d be going to, my friends, and a night in a hotel to start off my summer, those troubles seemed so small now they were on the verge of vanishing. I really hoped they did. Thing had been easier in ninth year than they had before, less drama and everything else, but I was still glad to be out of school.

I took survey of the other girls: Aria and Victoria reading, Dakota sleeping, Selena had her eyes closed and head pressed against the window, but I didn’t think she was asleep. Aria’s parents were talking up front. I thought I heard my name, mixed with the other girls. A couple other words I caught were “good girls,” “Proud of them,” and other little positive blips here and there. I looked down and drew while I thought.

I liked the Laikens. They let Aria have sleepovers and had bought us these tickets. My dad and uncle knew Aria’s dad and our mums knew each other. They liked us too, I knew, from what Aria had told us and the smiles they gave when I saw them.

We were in a city by now, where there was a lot of traffic. It was about 6:45. My heart beat a little faster. I was really excited. My sketch had turned out pretty good, but I didn’t think I’d be able it give it to Liam. It didn’t really matter. It would still be a great night. I just wished we had a better chance of meeting the guys.
