Homeless.

The moment his emerald green eyes captured mine I couldn’t believe that I was staring at such beauty. The way the warm England breeze blew threw his wild curls instantly made him look like a model. But, I could only imagine what he thought of me. A girl with dirt stains on her pants and shirt, uncombed hair, and holey shoes. I was just the homeless girl.

His world was obviously so different than mine.

Just for a second I swore I could have seen deep dimples on the side of his cheeks as a small smile appeared on his face. “Uh did you not hear me? Get out of here!” the security guard asked. I regrettably tore my eyes away from the boy and nodded “Okay. Sorry again” I whispered.

“Mina…is dat boy got lotsa money?” she asked.

I chuckled and whispered “Yea. I think so” I said and continued down the long path exiting the wealthy neighborhood. “Mina and Izzy don’t got money wite?” she said.

She was right...we had nothing. We were homeless.

1. Homeless Girl

"Mina, wakey!" I heard a small voice whisper into my ear. I tried to keep my eyes closed knowing that I needed the sleep but the person kept poking my cheek repeatedly causing me to let out a groan.

"What?" I mumbled laying my head into my arms that were acting as my pillow.

"Bath time! Bath time!" she said. I let my eyes flutter open to find my 3 year old sister smiling widely at me.

As grumpy as I wanted to be I couldn't help the smile that crept onto my face at her happiness.

I took a moment to look out of one of the holes inside of the playground tunnel we had slept in and welcomed the warm breeze that drifted through. "Minaaaaa" Isabella whined pulling on a strand of my thick chocolate locks. "Bellllaaaa" I whined back poking her stomach.

"Yea how do you like that! I'm giving you a taste of my own medicine missy" I laughed as her joyous giggles rang out. I instructed her to crawl out of the tube so that we could clean up. "Slide! Pwease!" she squealed now visible of the slide that was across from us.

I smiled at her, wishing I was that young again without a care in the world. I nodded and watched her clumsily crawl down the steps from the tunnel and run over to the slide.

"Be careful Bella!" I called making my way over to the front of the slide so that I could catch her on the way down. She screamed wildly as she slid down the slide only to fall into my arms as I swung her around.

"Sweep here again?" she asked pointing to the tube. I frowned, I wish that one day I could tell her we were going home to a beautiful house where we both had our own room and bathrooms but I couldn't. Ever since Bella turned one we had been living on the streets. Let's just say our home life was terrible and I had to get us both out of there.

"Sure, do you like sleeping here?" I asked her. She nodded her head rapidly up and down causing her light blonde curls to bounce around. "Me no like sweeping in da ofer place" she said as I put her down and grabbed her hand.

I had recently found this playground in the nice part of London, and it was amazing compared to the shit we had to go back to during the day. It just wasn't safe to sleep there anymore. "Yea me too" I said beginning to make the journey back towards central London.

"Wow! Those big houses! Can we sweep dere?" She pointed. Great..."No Bella, we can't afford it" I answered. I had dealt with the fact that we were homeless and I was doing everything I could to get a job but nothing was working out. I was at the bottom of the pit, and I couldn't seem to get out of it.

"My cwoths smell funny" she said sniffing her long sleeved shirt. We didn't have money for clothes either which sucked, when we first ran away I had been saving up a few hundred dollars to help us out but unfortunately those funds had been used in after a year or two. Now we were barely making it.

"That's what baths are for" I said sticking my tongue out at her. "I will even take you to the enchanted bath!" I said dramatically causing her to giggle. I let my eyes drift to the huge million dollars flats again inwardly imagining what my life would be like if I was that rich.

My thoughts were interrupted as Bella tugged on my pant leg "Mina...tere's boys wooking at us" she said hiding behind my leg. What? My head snapped towards her to see where her eyes were and then my eyes followed and landed upon 3 boys staring at us intently.

Shit...technically we were trespassing. We continued to just stare at each other until a man wearing a security suit came out of a little booth by the gated fence...that we had jumped over might I add. "Hey! Who are you? You are not supposed to be here!" he shouted starting to walk towards us.

Oh Crap. “You damn girls are willing to do anything to see One Direction! Well I’m tired of it. Get out of here before I call the cops!” he said angrily.

“Oh my gosh please don’t call the cops! We are leaving I’m sorry” I said quickly ducking my head and reaching for Isabella’s hand. “Yea you better and don’t come back!” he called.

As I walked past the open gate the security guard led us out of I took a glance towards the boys who were watching us. But one in particular caught my eye.

As I walked away with my sister clutching my hand tightly I dared to take a glance back to see if maybe the handsome boy was just some mirage. But, now he appeared closer watching me walk away. I noticed my sister turn around to see what I was looking at and I couldn’t help the smile that appeared on my face as she shyly waved to him. “Mina…is dat boy got lotsa money?” she asked.

I chuckled and whispered “Yea. I think so” I said and continued down the long path exiting the wealthy neighborhood. “Mina and Izzy don’t got money wite?” she said.

A frown appeared on my face just thinking about the abandoned alley in downtown London that we called a home. We had nothing.

“Right”
