8. The "New" Girl

Chapter 8
The "New" Girl
Harry Styles
Well, my Fall Break sucked. I did nothing but sit around and do nothing. I meet up with Chase, Logan, and Kyle outside of school. "What you guys do over Fall Break? I went to New York!" Logan exclaims. We all look at him with envy. Logan's family was rich as hell. "Nothing." Us three all say in unison. Logan just laughs. We walk to our lockers as Logan tells us about his trip to New York. I can't help to wonder what Maggie did for Fall Break. Over the break, I had realized, I was a real jerk to her. No one deserves that. Especially with what she has going on at home. If its the last thing I do, I'm going to stop George. I don't know why I had such a rush to stop him, but I did. "Nerd al- HOLY SHIT." Chase says. I turn. I gape at what I see. I see Maggie, as in, Maggie Butler, wearing high heels, a loose tank too that said 'I love cats' and tight, shiny, black jeans. Her heels are black stilettos. She has her hair curled to perfection, and no glasses. She looked, amazing. Beautiful. "Holy shit is right." Kyle says. I see Kyle checking out Julia, the girl with the purple hair, she looked amazing too. I look at Chase and he is checking out Maggie. I felt a rush of anger bubble through me. I tried to push it down. Logan had his eyes all over Gracey. But my eyes were only looking at one. I walk over to Maggie. "Hey Butler." I say, leaning against the locker adjacent to hers. She looks at me. She half smiles and closes her locker. "Butler! We need to get together again to work on the project." I say. She stops. She turns around. She holds her books on her hip. "When? Your house no doubt." She gets closer, her hot breath on my neck. "George is home." I shiver. I felt my knees buckle and I'm at a loss for words. No one has ever done this to me before. I nod. She 'hmph's and says, "Your house. I'll be there at 5." She turns around and struts off, leaving me listening to the noise of her heels hitting the floor. Chase was watching the whole thing. He's looking at me wide eyed. I look at him. "What the hell just happened?" I ask. He looks lost as well. He shakes his head. We both walk to our first class. "Dude, she looks, hot." Chase says. "She looks beautiful." I say, barely above a whisper, hoping he wouldn't hear. "Dude? Did you just say that?" He asks. I shake my head and walk faster. I sit down in the last row and wait for Drama to come.
Finally, I walk into Drama. I see Maggie sitting there, in her usual spot, but there are a bunch of guys crowded around her desk. She just looks uncomfortable. Suddenly, I feel protective over her. "Guys, stop. You are making her uncomfortable." I say, the guys spread like a wildfire when I show up. I shoot her a warm smile before taking the seat behind her. I take some of her hair and start to play with it. "The hell are you doing?" She asks, turning. "What does it look like I'm doing? Playing with your hair." I state, like it's an everyday statement. "We'll would you quit? You're getting on my nerves." She snaps. I lean back and sigh. Then, I lean real close to her ear, this time, it was my turn to make her shiver. I whisper close to her ear. "I'm sorry. For everything." I say, sadly. I can feel her shiver next to my lips. She stands up. Hardly any people were in the classroom right now, not Mrs. Peters, and, thankfully, not Lacie. Maggie puts a finger in my face. "You can't just say you're sorry after years and years of bullying them!" She shouts. "You are just saying that now because I look different!" I can see the tears brimming her eyes. "Maggie I-" I stick out my hand to console her but she slaps it away. "No." She says, standing up straighter, which was still about six inches shorter than me. "You are not getting away with this. You are not going to make me fall for this!" She shouts. I open my mouth to say something, but nothing comes out. She sits down and crosses her arms over her chest. I am still standing there, at a loss for any possible words. Just then, Lacie comes in and kisses me on the lips. "I missed you!" She says, in her high-pitched squeal. I see Maggie flinch at the sound of her voice. I push her away. "Harry?" Lacie asks, worried. I could tell she wasn't really worried, she just wanted to date me for popularity. "No. Lacie you don't like me, I don't like you. This is not working. At all. We're through." I say. She looks shocked. "You've got to be kidding..." "No. I'm not." I say, forcefully. "Can we just talk about this later?" She asks, sitting down. I roll my eyes and sit down as Mrs. Peters walks in. I zone out during the entire class period. Why did I have to be so naive? I was dating Lacie, thinking that she was good for me, when, in reality, the person I needed was the person I have bullied for the past years. I walk out of the classroom as the bell rings. I don't pay attention in any of the rest of my classes. Finally, lunch comes. "Hey!" Lacie says to me. "Lacie we are done." I say. People in the cafeteria were starting to stare. "Are you cheating on me?" "No Lacie." "Is it another girl?" I look at the table were Maggie is sitting at. Her back is facing me but her friends are staring at me, wide eyed. I look at Maggie. "Yeah. There is." I say before walking away from her. I can feel all the eyes on my back as I walk away. "Harry. Fucking. Styles. You do not dump me. I have never been dumped. You are not going to dump me for some slut o a girl." Lacie screams. I stop and turn. "Lacie. She is a million times better than you. She is not only beautiful on the outside, but unlike you, she's beautiful on the inside too. She is most definantly not a slut. She is amazing. I don't know what I would do without her. Yeah I made some mistakes. But I just hope she can forgive me." I could not believe I just said that, out loud, in the middle of the cafeteria, with all eyes on me. I stare hard at Maggie's back. "Who is this bitch?" Lacie yells. I hold my finger to my ear. "Could you please stop yelling? You're going to burst my eardrum." I say. I turn around and continue walking. "I hate you Harry Styles!" She screams after me. "Good!" I yell back. I see Chase smirking by the door. As I walk through the door he high-fives me. God, that's felt good. Now just to tell Maggie...
