My Big Brother

Ashely Styles is 11 months younger than Harry. She loves her brother to death. They're best friends. Everyone knows who they are. Especially Ashely's name. She's every boy's dream girl. Funny, wild, crazy. And good looking. She charms her way out of trouble. Harry thinks no one is good enough for his sister. He scares off every guy she goes on a date with. He loves her to death. Ashely's his best friend aside from his three other mates (Niall, Louis and Liam). But not even they are allowed to look at her for too long let alone ask her to prom without approval.

"Leave me alone!" I yelled at him.

"Why are you acting like this?!" He followed me up to my room.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I hung up my phone.

"I CAN'T BELIEIEVE YOU!" I pushed him out of my room.

"Ashely! What did I do!?" He begged for an explination.

"Never talk to me again! You're not my brother!" I screamed.

He made him leave. He did this.

34. Never Leaving and Not Afraid

"Where the hell am I supposed to hide?!" I snapped back at him.

He took a deep breath. "They're not supposed to be home until tonight!"

"Zayn?" Someone knocked on the door.

"Answer it!" I mouthed.

I hide behind the door as he opened the door slightly and let his head pop out.

"Hey Mum!" He chuckled nervously.

"Hey. Come downstairs?" She asked.

The door swung open and smacked me in the face. I squealed and held my nose.

"Ashely?" His Mum peaked at me.

I stopped what I was doing and froze. "M-Mrs.Malik..."

"What are you doing here?" She asked.

"I.. I um... I..." I studdered.

"Both of you downstairs. NOW." She ordered, steam coming out of both of her ears.

Zayn didn't even look at me. He bit his lip hard then went out. I followed close behind. We sat on the couch. His Mum exchanged a couple of words with a man who looked just like Zayn, obviously, that was her husband. Safaa and Waliyha looked a bit worried as his dad walked back and forth, a scold planted on his face the whole time. Zayn stared at the ground, a bored look on his face.

THE FUCK! How are you bored?! I'm seriously about to piss my pants! I was cussing him out in every way in my mind. Then his eyes met mine and I was like Er... What were we talking about again? Thats how lost I became in them.

"Zayn Jawaad Malik." His dad finally spoke up.

He looked up at him. I stared at the ground.

"Please tell me this." He stood infront of us. "Who is this girl and why have you brought her into our home?"

"Well first of all it isn't 'our' home. This house belong to Mum and I-"

"Zayn." His dad inturrupted him.

"I'm not telling you her name." Zayn crossed his arms.

I felt eyes boaring down at me. I stared harder at the ground as the man cleared his throat. Suddenly, he kneeled down infront of me forcing me to look at him.

"Hello Hun, and what is your name?" He smiled gently.

I glanced at Zayn who shook his head.

"This is Ashely." His Mum said.

Zayn clicked his tongue and glared. His Dad stood up.

"And 'Ashley'," he said my name as if I were a questionable statment, "What are you doing here?"

Nothing could come out of my mouth.

"Young lady, I am speaking to you." He scolded.

"I-I-I-" Nothing.

"Dad, leave her alone." Zayn muttered viciously.

"I just want to know why you two disobeyed the rules." His dad explained. "Ashely, darling. Where is your father? I'd like to speak to him."

My heart dropped as he said those words.

"I don't think he's going to approve of you staying at your boyfriend's house all weekend. Does he even know where you are?!" He yelled.

I shook my head. "My dad doesn't even know where I live."

*Zayn's POV*

Ashely stared back at the ground.

"What do you mean?" Dad said as if she were lying.

"It means," I stood up, "shut up."

Dad narrowed his eyes.

"You're so insensitive." My fists curled into tight balls. "Who are you to just come here and yell at her? Yell at me all you want. Just leave. Her. Alone."

"I'm sorry but as an adult, I have a right." He explained. "Now Ashely, give me your father's number."

Ashely bit her lip and covered her face.

"Are you crying because you're getting in trouble? Grow up and face the consequences." Dad spat.

*Ashely's POV*

"Don't talk to her like that!" Zayn stood up.

"I told you to leave her alone! She's not your child! Punish me all you want, just leave her alone!" He gritted through his teeth.

"Zayn." Safaa whispered.

"WHAT?!" He screamed at her.

I jumped back in my seat and looked at him. Zayn was breathing hard and his neck veins were popping out. His Dad seemed to shrink in size at the sight of his son.

"You're such a jerk sometimes, you know that!?" Zayn spat. "Stop worrying about what I'm doing and start worrying about yourself!"

"Zayn, calm down." His dad whispered.

"NO!" Zayn screamed.

I stood up and grabbed his shoulder. He turned to me and gripped my arms tightly. I winced but brought myself to his chest.

"Sh.. Sh.." I whispered as he grabbed tighter.

"Zayn, you're hurting her!" Waliyha said.

I shook my head towards her then looked up at Zayn who was fumming.   Who is that? Is that even Zayn? It didn't look like him. It was like someone had taken over him. The anger in his eyes burned down at me as he gripped even tighter. I winced and burried my head into his chest.   "Zayn, stop." I begged. "Stop, please."

I looked up at him sheepishly. His eyes softened a bit. He stood back and released my arms, red marks taking the place of his fingers. He gasped and tried to hug me but restrained himself then ran up the stairs.

"Ashely, he-"

"Common girls. We're leaving." His dad inturrupted.

Safaa came over and hugged me. "Don't leave him. Please. This isn't him, he's not that guy. He's just upset. Ashely, he needs you to help him." She whispered in my ear then pulled away.

I nodded.

Waliyha came over and hugged me tightly. "Help him, Ashely. You're our last hope."

"I will. Don't worry." I whispered back to her.

She pulled away and then was dragged out. I looked at my arms and touched them only to wince at the formed brusies.

"Ashely, I.. I'm so sorry." His mother whispered.

"It's alright. I'm okay." I faked a smile.

"Will you please go up and talk to him?" She begged. "Please."

I nodded and slowly went up to his room. I opened the door. My body immediately slammed it shut as I was pinned to it. Zayn's angry eyes back as he stared down at me. He was breathing hard. For a second, he looked down and shook his head but then he stared back at me.

"I do not see why you like me." He whispered.

I stayed still.

"This is the reason why I didn't want to be more than a project partner." His eyes narrowed.

He punched the wall next to my face. It was so close. I began to pant as I looked at his fist.   "You can never be with a man like me." He said softly, his voice serious.

I looked back at him slowly. His eyes pleaded for help.

"Zayn, let go of me." I whispered.

And he did. He placed both hands on either side of my head. I wrapped my arms around him.   "You're going to be okay. Alright?" I said gently. "You're going to be okay."

Zayn bit his lip and stared down at my arms.

"Hey, look at me." I held his chin and made him look me in the eyes. "I'm not hurt."

"I'm so sorry." He whispered.

I wrapped my arms around his neck and hugged him. He put his arms around my waist and held tightly.

"Ashely, I'm so sorry." He said.

"Zayn, it's alright." I ensured him. "We're going to be fine. I'm not mad."

"But I was.." Zayn gulped. "This is why I didn't want to be anything but project partners, Ashely. I didn't want you to be afraid. I didn't want you to see this side of me. I didn't want you to leave me because of my anger."

"I'm never going to leave you, Zayn. And I am not afraid." I said then placed a small kiss on the corner of his mouth. "I was going to see this side of you one day."

Zayn pulled me closer. "I just snapped." He shook his head. "I don't want to lash out on you again, Ashely. And use words when I do. I don't want to hurt you not only physically but mentally. I just want you to be safe."

"I'm safe with you." I whispered.

"You're not." He replied.

"I am." I looked at him. "I don't care if you lash out on me, I'll understand."

"I need help. I want to change. I don't want to hurt you." He explained.

I buried my head into his neck and kissed it. "I'll help you. Don't worry."

"Really?" He asked.

I nodded. "Common." I pulled away and lead him to bed. "Lay down."

He got into bed and pulled the covers over him. I crawled in next to him and let him hold me. I drew infinity signs on his chest. He eventually fell asleep.

The door suddenly clicked and his mother peaked her head in. Our eyes met. She came over and crouched down infront of me.

"Is he alright?" She whispered.

I nodded. He pulled me backwards to bring me closer into his arms. Zayn sighed in his sleep and relaxed. We were laying on our sides now in the spooning position.

"I'm sorry you had to see that." Mrs.Malik whispered.

"It's alright, really." I smiled gently.

She sighed and looked at him then back at me. "He cares for you so much. More than you'll ever know."

I nodded.

"Ashely, help him out. Please. He needs you. He'll only open up to you. He'll only listen to you. You're the only person he trusts." She said.

"I will. Don't worry." I assured her.

"I'm sorry for being upset with you about staying over." She mumbled.

"It's fine." I responded.

Mrs.Malik smiled to me. "He's so calm around you. Usually, when he's upset, it's worst than what you saw. He'll curse and shout and punch. But when you grabbed his shoulder, he calmed down. Even if it didn't seem like he did. He held your arms because he didn't want you to run away."

"I would never run away from Zayn." I explained.

She squeezed my free hand that was hanging off the bed. "Thank you, Ashely."

"Don't mention it." I whispered.

Mrs.Malik stood up and went around. "Mummy loves you, baby." She whispered and kissed his forehead. "No matter what."

I smiled slightly and watched her leave. I moved around so I was now facing Zayn. Our legs were a tangled mess. I ran my fingers through his tangled, unstyled hair.

"Don't worry, Zayn. You have me." I said. "No matter what."

I kissed his nose. He smiled in his sleep and held me closer. I smiled myself.

Was I scared this morning?

Just for a moment.

Did I expect this to happen again?

Just a bit.

Will I ever leave him because of his anger?

Later that morning, Zayn woke up again and yawned. He gave me a weak smile then looked at my arms. The light pink marks still on them. He ran his fingers down it and his smile faded. I held his hand and kissed him. He pulled away with a guilty look. I kissed him again. This time, he kissed back.

I layed on his chest and we just stayed in the quiet. I told Mum I wasn't going to show up for work through text. She told me it was fine and she'd have Gemma come in.

"Morning." I whispered to Zayn.

"Morning beautiful." He replied and tucked hair behind my ear. "Are you alright?"

I nodded.

"I'm sorry." He said.

"Don't be. I'm okay." I replied.

Zayn kissed my forehead and smiled weakly again. His eyes sad.

"I'll be okay, Zayn. I promise." I mumbled.   He nodded a bit unsure still.

"I'll be here for you, always. No matter what." I explained.
