On the Wrong Side of Right Street

Aaron Smith isn't any normal 16 year old dude....I mean, no normal teenage guy breaks out of a mental hospital, and definitely does NOT have strange, super-natural powers that have branded him for life as a weirdo. Suddenly, Aaron's world is turned upside down when his brother is mysteriously killed......... how far will Aaron go to find the murderer?

7. The phantom Starbucks barista

This Cole guy was really something. He was apparently left by his parents when he was a kid, but he sure didn't seem upset. The guy was skipping around the street while we walked to Starbucks. I know, it's a cliché to go to Starbucks with some person you just met like five minutes ago... but this was different. I've never been attracted to a guy until now. I wouldn't think of myself as "gay..." more like "just trying something new and fresh."

I was so lost in thought, I walked straight into the glass door to the entrance.

"Awww! Pancakes!" I screeched.

Everyone in the store looked straight at me. Cole kicked my leg. "Aaron," He said under his breath while slightly snickering. "There are children here."

I smiled bashfully. "Oops."

But that oops was not enough to fulfill my complete and utter embarrassment.

When we got up to the front counter, the barista looked at me like I was a dead pigeon.

"Ummm....." The barista started. "Your nose is spewing blood like a cheese fountain at a bad party."

I touched my nose embarrassedly. I didn't even notice!

Cole snickered. "We should get you to a hospital."

I glared at him. "Yeah, we should."

My legs were shaking like I was having a half body spasm. Suddenly, the doctor burst in.

"Mister Smith?"

I cringed. "Yes?"

"That nose of yours really took a hard hit. You said you were playing baseball?"

I looked down embarrassed. "No... I walked into the door at Starbucks."

"Oh." The doctor totted. "I thought you would be more of the athletic type... Not the clumsy type."

I blushed. That was awkward.

"Anyhow," The doctor continued. "The nose... about that... It's broken."

"WHAT?! THAT JUST DOESN'T HAPPEN I WILL RIP YOUR-" A firm hand clamped over my mouth. I licked it. I don't like random hands over my mouth. It's a rule.

The doctor continued. "Keep this bandage over your nose, pretty boy. Change it every day. My work here is done. Goodbye, kid with anger issues."

I growled. That doctor was pushing it.

"C'mon pretty boy." Cole mocked. "Let's go get our nails done."

I wished Cole knew that I had business to deal with.
