Arrogance.

I'm sorry for the person I am, or have been.

1. Arrogance.

That one moment of superiority boosting your ego,
you think you're right, that knowing is best.
The thing is, the more about people you know,
the less you'll want to know the rest.

That 'oh' moment, the arrogant little grin
pushes to the surface, you know their secret.
You'll play with it, tease them, but within
your mind you'll hope that they'll let

You play a little longer. You'll be protective.
The person is yours because of the facts
in your mind. It's all very provocative,
now go back in your tiny, pathetic tracks.

When did they admit to being your friend?

That second of finally starting to see between
from knowing them and really knowing
what was going on. So it seems
that you were really just slowing

Them down. Recovery was your enemy,
you were scared they'll get better and leave.
Suddenly arrogance is your kind of therapy
for people who know how to grieve.

The knot in your stomach was sore
when you saw those god-awful scars.
You cared about them, you honestly swore
that you'd help, but it's not in the cards.

When did they admit to being your friend?

That one moment of superiority boosting your ego,
you think you're right, that knowing is best.
The thing is, the more about people you know,
the less you'll want to know the rest.
