Crystal Clear

Lauren's my name. I'm 17 and I live in Seattle. I win a day to hang out with my crazy, amazing idols. Everything takes a turn from there.

11. A Change Of Plans.

*Lauren’s POV*
“Come on Lauren, can’t we just go to the ice cream shop that’s like 12 minutes away,” Jazmine pleaded.
“I’m tired, I’ve been out since nine in the morning and I want to take a nap,” I walked up the front steps of my house.
“Come on Lauren!!!” She begged.
I don’t even know why she wants ice cream so bad. I ignored her and unlocked the door to my house. She trailed behind me. I guess my dad heard me enter the house cause he came down the stairs and greeted me.
“Oh, you’re home,” his smile was huge.
“Yeah, it’s three and I’ve been out since nine, I think I could take a power nap.” I yawned.

I started up the stairs. I could hear my dad whispering something to Jazmine but I didn’t pay any mind. I was about to drop on the stairs. I got up the stairs then opened my door. All members of One Direction we’re in my room, including Liam. They were going through my drawers and packing stuff into a couple of suitcases. They all then turned and looked at me.

“What’s going on?” I was so confused at this moment.
Zayn stepped up and said, “we’re taking you to Florida with us for our last show.”
I hesitated to answer, “um, really?”
“Yeah,” Zayn’s smile faded.
I didn’t want to seem ungrateful or anything. It’s just that I’m so close to my dad and he’s the only family member that’s been there for me. Ever since my mom left, I’ve never left his side.
“Jazmine’s coming with you, so you’re not alone,” Louis broke the silence.
“Really?” I sounded more excited this time.
“Yeah, we called her. She was supposed to keep you busy, but she did a horrible job at that.” Harry butted in.
“Hold on guys.”
I ran down the stairs, falling at the last step. I got up and brushed myself off, hoping no one saw that. Jazmine and my dad stood there laughing at me.
“Shut up,” I laughed along with them.
“So, what do you think? Going to Florida, and having your best friend with you. Oh, and your favorite boy band flying you out there.” My dad was smiling like an idiot.
“Sounds good but what about you. Who’s gonna take care of the food and the house and you.” Disappointment was clearly in my tone.
“Lauren, don’t worry about me. I can make myself pasta and order out sometimes, it’s no big deal. This can give you a chance to look for more colleges and find out what you want to do in the future. Maybe you can find a nice college there and-” He was cut off by me.
“I don’t want to leave you alone dad. You’re all I’ve ever had and I’m all you’ve ever had.” Tears were forming in my eyes.
Jazmine was standing there awkwardly. I didn’t even know what to do at this point.
“I’ll go, but you better call me everyday and we have to skype at least twice a week,” I said quietly.

I didn’t want to let Jazmine down. A smile formed on both of their faces and they came in for a group hug. I laughed and cried tears of joy that hid some sadness. My dad kissed my forehead and we all pulled away from the group hug. I smiled at them both and wiped away my tears.

“I’m gonna go help them pack.” I walked towards the stairs.
I motioned for Jazmine to come along with me. She skipped excitedly up the stairs with me. I walked through my door to find Louis in my underwear drawer. He held up one of my pink laced underwears and the boys all started laughing.
“OMG CAN A GIRL HAVE SOME PRIVACY,” I yelled at Louis while snatching the underwear from his loose grip.
Everyone including Jazmine was laughing hysterically. I shook my head and my cheeks turned rosey with embarrassment. I grabbed all of my underwear in a bundle and placed them in the pocket of a half filled suitcase. I went over to my desk that was now almost empty. The only thing on it was my macbook pro. I grabbed it and went to my closet to look for the bag that went over the shoulder, to hold my laptop. I wasn’t going to leave it behind because I needed to skype with my dad to make sure everything was alright.
Jazmine came up next to me as I put my laptop in the side bad, “your dad needs to tell my mom that it’s ok for me to go with you to Florida.”
“He will don’t worry,” I smiled without looking up.
I clicked the snap close and put the bag in the corner with the 3 filled suitcases. I was almost already packed so I decided to let the boys and Jazmine bond for a little. I started down the stairs to see my dad on the couch. The tv wasn’t on and he was looking down at something in his hands. I jumped over the couch and sat on the left side of him. He was looking at the photo of me and him at my 16th birthday party. I had frosting on my face and he was trying to lick it off. These are the memories that make me want to stay with my dad. But sometime in life I need to leave him. This is the opportunity I have to take. He handed me the photo, I could tell that he was trying so hard not to cry.
“It’s ok to cry once in awhile dad,” I leaned in a hugged him.
I sat up in my bed. I was sweaty and my heart was racing. I pulled off my covers and looked at Jazmine who was fast asleep. The only thing heard was her light breathing and the wind outside. I grabbed my phone from the empty counter and looked at the time, it was 2:12 am. I couldn’t sleep at all. The last time I was on a plane was when I was 7 and my mom, dad, and I went to the Dominican Republic for a vacation in July. The moon was still out and the stars twinkled.

When should I be ready tomorrow?

From: Louis :)
Try to get some sleep. Be ready by 11:30. xx
I shut my phone’s screen off and layed my head back down. I didn’t have to worry about getting my luggage to the airport because the boys had took my suitcases with them when they headed off. We still had to get Jazmine’s though, so I decided to unlock my phone again and set my alarm clock for 9 am. I put my phone back on the counter and looked up at my ceiling. It took me counting to 300 until my eyes finally shut and I drifted off.
