Little Talks

"I don't like walking around this old and empty house."
"Are you sure about this Zayn?" I asked with my hands grasping over the railing, wind blowing through my hair. "Don't worry." He tells me. "I'm nervous as much as you. But these little talks don't last long."
My summer was basically ruined thanks to my mother. After high school graduation, she forced me to work on the cruiseline she owns instead of giving me a choice if I want to like my older sister. But the first day of the cruise, the first day I saw them being complete dumbos. That day I didn't know that I would love one of them. Zayn was right, these little talks don't last long.

49. Middle

<Elizabeth POV>
"I GOT THIS FEELING ON A SUMMER DAY WHEN YOU WERE GONE! I CRASHED MY CAR INTO A BRIDGE..." A phone went off while we were sleeping in our huge hotel room.

"That's not mine!" I complained in my sleep.

"It's mine." Nicole groaned. "Sorry if it woke anyone up."

"Yeah, you should. You woke all of us up!" Eleanor yelled.

"Let me answer the phone, Ralston!" Nicole yelled back at her. "She picks up her phone and puts it to her ear. "Hello...Yes, this is Nicole...No, I wasn't sleeping. I'm talking in a flat tone because I'm up at midnight...When else would I know it's you, Tommo?...Your accent...Why would Zayn be here?...We're twenty minutes away from the dock...I doubt he would get off the ship and walk that far of a distance here...Did you call his phone?...Call Katie and maybe she'll know...okay...can we go to sleep? You woke all of us up?...Well, apology accepted...okay...Goodnight."

<Eleanor POV>
"Let me guess, Louis called you?" I asked Nicole in a flat tone.

"Yes. He asked if Zayn was at our hotel because he's not with them." She replied.

"Why would he be over here?" Josie asked.

"Definitely not to hook up with one of us." Rachel added on.

That's when Elizabeth perks up. "SOMEONE GRAB MY PHONE!" She yelled. Becca gets up and rushes to grab her phone.

She begins to dial a number. "Liz, who are you calling?!" Cassidy asked as we all got up from our beds.

"You'll see!" She answers as she puts the phone to her ears.

"PUT IT ON SPEAKER!" Sereen yells as she pulls the phone down and set it on speaker. The phone rings for a while. And then we hear a voice.

"Elizabeth, do we have to talk at the moment?! I'm talking to Emily and Louis at the moment!" Katie voice comes through the phone.

<Katie POV>
I wake up to moaning, screaming, and my phone ringing.

I pick up my phone and without bothering, I answer. "Whoever it is, I'm trying to sleep through loud sounds!"

"Same here, Katie!" Emily says on the other line. "Even though it's muffled in my room, I woke up to it."

"Either it's mom with another guy, or Britta having a nightmare." I suggest. Maybe it's Britta and her nightmare because the noise is coming right next door.

"Or maybe it's..." I get another call.

"Hold on, Em." I click answer to whoever and that person is in our conversation. "Hello?!"

"Katie? It's Louis."

"Hey. Oh, and Emily Williams is on here too."

"Hi." She replied.

"Hello Emily. Katie, have you seen Zayn? And what is that noise in the background? Is a mouse hitting his head through the wall?"

I roll my eyes. "Me and Emily are trying to figure it out. And no, I don't know where Zayn is. Do you, Emily?"

"Katie, I obviously don't know where Zayn is. But maybe it's Britta with..." More ringing from my phone. This time, I look and it's Elizabeth.

"Oh, come on!" I hit answer. "Elizabeth, do we have to talk at the moment?! I'm talking to Emily and Louis at the moment!"

"Okay, well, the whole group is on too. But Louis, I know where Zayn is! And what's that noise?! Is a mouse hitting his head on the wall?!"

"That's what I said!" Louis says.

"Can we forget about the mouse!" Emily asked/yelled.

"Okay. So this is where Zayn is: he's with Britta." Elizabeth finally says.

"And then maybe the noise from her room is..." I start, but pause. Oh, god.

"Okay, thanks for the help. I'll tell the boys. Night." Louis hangs up.

"Yeah, I'll get earplugs from the employee lounge. See ya." Now Emily hangs up.

"We'll see ya tomorrow, Katie." Elizabeth says.

I get a bunch of "yeahs" and "yeppers" from her group as she hangs up.

My little sister is growing up.
