14. Jealousy

Brooke’s POV

A few days had gone by since I last saw Harry. I never got to see him after he went to meet with Simon, Stephanie had rung me and reminded me about a literature test I had to take so I sent Harry a text explaining everything but he hasn’t gotten back to me.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little worried he just wanted a quick shag, but I kept pushing that thought into the very back of my mind.

I grabbed a pair of jeans from my dresser and swapped them with my shorts I had been wearing.  I pulled my shirt over my head and began to search around my room for a clean one to wear.

“Fuck” I mumbled looking through my closet. I put my hands on hips looking at all the clothes I could be wearing if it wasn’t snowing out and just threw on a pink Jack Willis sweatshirt.

“Brooke can you help me for a minute!” My mother bellowed and I bit the inside of my cheek before opening my bedroom door.

My mother hadn’t cut back on her drinking to say the least. The only time she didn’t drink was when Simon was around. I had come close to telling Simon about it more than once but somehow my mother was able to manipulate me into keeping my mouth shut.

Walking down the stairs I saw Michelle sprawled out on the couch flipping through the channels and my mother trying to open a bottle of pills, with a beer in her hand.

I tugged on the bottom of my hair as my chest tightened a little. Taking a deep breath I stepped down the last step and walked over to my mother.

“Hey Brooke. Do you mind opening these for me?” She asked handing me the bottle filled with tiny white pills. “They are for my anxiety.” She added and I looked at Michelle who was rolling her eyes at my mother.

“I tried to tell her.” Michelle explained and my mother shot her a glare.

“Michelle hush. Brooke just open the pills.”

“You can’t take them when you are drinking. You have to wait till you are sober and you can’t drink for some time after you take them.” I told her and she began to frown.

“Whatever. I just won’t take them. Can you put them back in my room for me?” She shrugged taking another sip of her beer. I gritted my teeth and let out a long breath.

“Yup” I responded and walked back upstairs. I stopped at my mother’s room and opened the door to see a complete mess. Bottles all over the floor along with empty pill bottles. Her bed was a complete mess as well. It was unmade and the sheet was coming off.

The image all together made me speechless.

I had seen my mother at her low point before but had never seen what her room had looked like. She always kept the door closed.

I slammed the bottle on her dresser which was continently located right next to the door and closed the door so I wouldn’t have to look at that anymore. I heard my ringtone going off from my bedroom and I fumbled to get it before it went to voicemail.

“Hey” I answered when I saw Steph’s numbed appear on the screen.

“You’re going out. I will pick you up in an hour.”

  “Excuse me?”

“You’re going out. You, Me, Justin, and Kyle!” She explained happily and I bit my lip.

“Not going. Sorry. I feel ill” I lied and added a crappy fake cough to the end of my sentence.

“That was bad. Even for you.” I heard her giggle and I scoffed. “But seriously you are going. Kyle told me everything. Yea he’s a dick for doing that but he just wants to be friends.” She continued and I sighed. In all honesty I did miss Kyle. Being my first real boyfriend, I considered him my best friend.

“Fine. Ring me when you are here.” I gave in and Stephanie squealed.

“Thank god! See you in a little bit.” She chirped then hung up. I chuckled at her excitement then looked at myself in the mirror.

I walked into my bathroom closing, and locking the door behind me and stripped down to nothing.  Turning the handle on the shower to turn it on, I waited tapping my foot impatiently for the water to warm up.

I grinned when I felt the hand I had placed under the running water go from cold to hot and I stepped inside, closing the curtain behind me. I quickly grabbed my shampoo bottle, squeezing out the contents of it and watching it fall to my hand before plopping it on my head.

I knew I had to be quick, Stephanie is usually early and still needed to try and get my hair dry in less than twenty minutes but make sure it still looks good.

About ten minutes later I stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around me. Unlocking the door, I swung it open and darted for my closet. I let the towel fall and grabbed slid into a pair of panties then plain black leggings.

I grabbed a tan bra and quickly hooked it then pulled a white jumped over my head. I smiled at my success and headed towards my vanity. I gave a sigh of relief when I sat down and ran a brush through my wet hair. As I did this I managed to plug in my blow drier and turn it on.

Another smile crept on my face when I looked at the clock and back at my now dry hair. I applied some lip gloss and mascara, before sliding on my bracelet.

“Michelle!” I bellowed and I heard footsteps coming up the stairs.

“Yea?” She asked popping her head in through the door.

“Can you help me with this?” I asked holding up a gold necklace. She nodded and walked over to me, taking the necklace out of my hand and I took my hair in my hand and held it up to my head.

“Where are you going?” She asked putting the necklace around my neck and I felt her clip it quickly and release the chain letting it fall.

“Out with friends. Does this look ok?” I asked worriedly and she nodded.

“Yeah you look good.” She smiled then left the room. I furrowed my brows at her actually being nice to me but it definitely wasn’t something I was going to complain about.

I slipped on my black wedges, grabbed my purse and stuffed my phone, and wallet in it before walking back downstairs. But this time it was different. My mother wasn’t drinking. Instead she was watching TV and doing something with her phone.

That’s when I noticed Simon sitting opposite from her.

“Where are you going?” Simon asked as I came down the stairs.

  “Out with friends.”

“That friend isn’t Harry correct?” He asked and I gritted my teeth.

“No. It’s not. And even if it was him I still don’t see what the big deal is.”

“You don’t mix business with pleasure.” He responded and I scoffed.

“He isn’t my business” I fought back and placed my hand on my hip.

“And he certainly won’t be your pleasure.”

   Too late

“And not to mention the hate you would get. I don’t want to see my niece get bombarded with hate. They say some really nasty stuff Brooke.” He continued and I sighed. I couldn’t exactly fight with him on that one.

“Fine” I huffed and turned on my heel, walking out the door. I didn’t care if it was snowing, I just really wanted to get away from Simon.

Thank god for Stephanie liking to be early because I only had to wait about two minutes before I saw her car drive up the long driveway. I hurried to the car and opened the passenger door next to Stephanie. I would have to thank her for letting me sit in front and that she still remembers that I get ill in the back seat.

“God I wish I had your house.” Stephanie said in awe of the mansion in front of her.

“I wish I had her uncle.” Justin added and I chuckled. I saw Kyle out of the corner of my eye but I decided to ignore his constant gazes towards me.

“So where are we going?” I asked changing the subject of my uncle.

“I don’t know. Some new restaurant opened up a few minutes away from here so we figured we would go there. It’s supposed to be good.” Stephanie explained as she pulled out of the driveway and onto the road. I gave her a nod and heard my phone ringing from inside my bag. Pulling it out, I quickly hit the top button ignoring  the call when Harry’s name came up on the screen.

“I take back what I said about Brooke’s uncle. I want her boyfriend.” Justin cooed ruffling my hair as he reached over Kyle from the backseat.

“Ooh yea. Forget the house. I want Harry.” Stephanie joined in and I rolled my eyes.

“You have a boyfriend?” Kyle asked and I shook my head.

“No.  They just think I do. Harry is a prick.” I lied having to convince them I still hated Harry. “Kind of like you Kyle.” I added with a small smirk as his face fell into a frown.

“Oh enough with that. Just tell me why Harry is calling you if you aren’t dating him.” Justin demanded and I shrugged.

“I don’t know. I didn’t answer remember” I reminded him and he sulked.

“I don’t believe you.” He crossed his arms and Stephanie sulked.

“Justin stop being a baby. We are here anyway.” Stephanie scolded him as she parked the car. I laughed and quickly climbed out of the car.

“So are you just going to ignore me?” Kyle asked as he followed me to the front of the restaurant. I opened my mouth to answer him but was in shock when I saw camera flashes and paparazzi covering the whole entire restaurant. They were looking through the windows and trying to get pictures but I didn’t see who.

“Holy shit!” Stephanie exclaimed as we finally got into the restaurant.

“Shh! People are looking at you!” I hissed holding back a laugh and she covered her mouth. Moments later a very angry waiter seated us at a table and quickly left.

“Now I really want to know who’s here. I mean it’s obviously someone famous!” Justin squealed as he picked up a menu.

“What’s the big deal about celebrities? They are just people.” Kyle shrugged and Justin shook his head and clapped a hand on his shoulder.

“My dear Kyle. They aren’t just celebrities. They are attractive people that make you want to rip your hair out.”

“They aren’t all attractive. Some of them are just douches.” Stephanie defended Kyle while I stayed quiet. I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket, taking it out I read the text and my cheeks became red.

    You look hot ;)

I quickly realized why the paparazzi was here when I looked over my shoulder and saw Harry with the rest of the band. He winked at me and I shook my head before returning back to the conversation trying to hide a smile.

“What are you looking at Brooke?” Justin smirked and I pointed to Harry’s table.

“Found out why the paps are here.” I responded and scrunched up my face in disgust. Justin held back a squeal as he kept his eyes locked on the boy band.

“God look at Harry’s hair. I just want to feel it. Is that too much to ask?” Justin turned to Stephanie as she admired them as well.

  “It probably feels amazing.”

  It does

“Zayn is hotter though. I mean look at the stubble on him.” She continued and I started to laugh. “Besides Harry is dating Taylor Swift. I just checked my twitter. Lots of angry fans.” My eyes nearly popped out of my head as Stephanie finished her sentence. I clenched my teeth together and started to tap my foot angrily as I texted Harry.

Why aren’t you out with Taylor?

“I’ll be right back. I need to go to the bathroom.” I announced and quickly fled to the door that had the sign ‘Women’ on it. I went to open the door but as I turned the handle it stopped signaling it was locked. I cursed and went into the family one which was thankfully open.

I put my hands on the counter and bit my lip thinking of what I had thought earlier.

  I was a quick shag.

“I can explain.” Harry pleaded coming into the bathroom and locking the door behind him.

“If I was just an easy fuck to you fine. But you could have had the decency to fucking tell me before you stuck it in that walking STD. You are probably the most-“ I didn’t have time to finish as Harry grabbed my face and planted a kiss on my lips shutting me up.

“Will you let me talk?” He asked calmly and I nodded but pushed myself out of the grasp he had on me.

“I’m not actually dating her. Simon set it up so both our upcoming albums would have more success. The only thing I have to do is go out in public with her a few times and hold her hand. That’s it. And no you aren’t an easy fuck. Ok?” He explained and I nodded. He smirked and walked over to me wrapping his arms around my waist.

“Good because I’ve been waiting to do this.” He whispered in my ear then softly pressed his lips to my neck. A moan escaped my lips as he nibbled and sucked on that same spot. I brought his face back up to mine and pressed his lips to mine.

He lifted me onto the counter and spread my legs, rubbing my outer thigh. Our lips moved in sync as I began to unbutton his black shirt. But I soon gave up and just lifted the shirt up over his head. He returned back to my neck and began rubbing my slit through my thin leggings.

“Ha-Harry s-stop” I gasped and he did as I said looking up at me.

“I have to get back to my friends. I’ve been in here too long.” I explained and he nodded helping me off the counter.

“Who are the guys?” He asked pulling his shirt back over his head and fixing the buttons.

  “One’s gay.”

  “And the other?”

“Kyle” I said nervously and I saw his jaw clench.

“Why. Isn’t he the asshole that cheated on you?” He asked and I nodded.

“Yes but he just wants to be friends calm down.” I reassured him and he sighed.

“Fine. And by the way we are finishing this later.” He smirked kissing my cheek then walking out of the bathroom leaving me with a huge love bite on my neck and a smile on my face.
