11. Chapter 11

"You're beautiful, with your sleeves of bruises - some of which I caused. Your lace of scars. Eventhough they're there... You're still beautiful." He said with a blush.

I just sat there with my forehead pressed to my knees, I didn't trust him, and I didn't want to give him my voice. I made that mistake once already. I couldn't waste my voice on one who I didn't trust. I had trusted my father with voice, and he ignored it, he heard me cry but he didn't care.

"Are you going to say anything?" He asked, frustration evident in his tone.

I shook my head 'no', and hugged my knees tighter to my chest.

He huffed in a frustrated sigh, and left the room. His words sat before me, dishonest and deniable. I wasn't beautiful, I was a pale, ugly, sick girl. I heard footsteps stumble closer, drunk from lack of sleep.

"Are you okay?" Niall's words flowed smoothly towards me.

I nodded, and lay on my side to sleep. I felt myself being lifted, and placed onto the bed. I looked at Niall, who was standing over me, and closed my eyes, pretending to sleep. A melody then found its way to me, playing with my senses. An Irish accent sang smoothly through the darkness. It ended all to soon when his voice ceased.

I looked up at him to see him watching my through the darkness. His blue eyes seemed to glow, even with the abscence of light.

"I hoped you liked the song... It's called Skinny Love." He said quietly.

I lay there, still looking into his glowing orbs.

"Why can't I know your name? How did you get so broken?" He asked, pleadingly.

His words seemed sharp, they pricked me, and tears spilled from my tired eyes. He brought his hand to my face, and I flinched. Sorrow seemed to fill his glowing eyes, dulling them. He gently wiped my tears away as he started to sing that song again. When he was finished singing, his eyes seemed to disappear all together, and his last notes were laced with exhaustion.

Something then compelled me to speak, before he was fully unconsious, and I only gave him one word.

"Rachel." My voice scratched, and was in desperate need of use.

I then failed to fight the darkness of sleep, and drifted off into unconsiousness full of nightmares and terror.
