    Chapter twenty

        Calista P.O.V

“Come on punch me!” He yelled.

“I’m trying!” I yelled frustrated now really wanting to punch him. Growling in frustration I finally landed a punch on his arm all he did was laugh.

“Come on Brandon I’m trying here!” I screamed.

“Aww come on Sweetie, she only just met ya a few hours ago and she’s already landed a punch! Cut her some slack!” Lilly yelled off on the sidelines.

“Thank you!” I yelled wiping the sweat of my brow. I looked off to the side and before I knew it I was tackled to the ground. Tucking and rolling like he Brandon taught me I managed to evade his grasp and used my wings to float off higher than he could reach so I  can take a breather.

“Hey no wings!” He yelled from down below running a hand threw his sandy blond hair.

    “Fine then no vampire speed!”

“No fair!” He yelled like a childish boy.

“Now Calista what have you done to poor Brandon now? You didn’t light him on fire again did you?” Alex asked as he walked into view raising an eyebrow.

“Nope I have done no such thing..yet.” I said as I glared daggers at Brandon causing him to hold his hands up in mock surrender.

“Well, i'll strike you a deal, one more hour of training and I will run a nice bubble bath for you.” Pondering the offer for a moment I stayed quiet waiting to see if he would make the deal better. “And ill get you some cheesecake?” he offered.

    “Deal.” I agreed.

“Seal it with a kiss?” He asked hopefully, flying over and leaning close as if to kiss him, and just as he was about to close the distance between us I flew away and punched Brandon in the face causing him to fall backwards.

“Ha! What now!” I said with excitement. A frown formed on Alex’s face as Brandon laid on the ground in shock Lilly started laughing clearly unaffected by the fact I had just punched her boyfriend. Fluttering my wings I smiled triumphantly as Brandon got up and we began to fight again.

An hour later I was sitting in a bubble bath talking with Alex who was sitting behind the curtain.

“That was mean you know.” He stated.

“Oh pipe down you big baby, I wanted to punch that sucker and obviously I needed a surprise attack.”

“True very true. You're getting a lot better you know, you can control water almost perfectly and I’m almost positive you can take down any Fae you would like.” He said with a hint of pride in his voice. Smiling at the fact he was proud of me I leaned back in the bath as Alex hummed that same tune he had been humming for days.

“Alex, what is that lullaby you are always singing?”

“It’s a lullaby my grandmother used to sing to me as a child, there were never any words but it always calmed me down.”

“Its pretty.” I admitted. We fell into a comfortable silence with the exception of him humming the enchanting lullaby, slowly my eyes fluttered closed as my wings dipped farther into the water, my wings dried almost instantly as soon as I get out so  I wasn’t worried about getting them wet. Smiling about how completely content I was my thoughts were immediately ruined when I heard a strange voice in my head.

Almost time my love, Tell your prince nothing of this or he will not live to see daybreak tomorrow.

I jumped at the strange voice in my head, love. Amir? H-How did he get in my head? I sat up abruptly causing water to splash everywhere soaking my hair and the floor.

    “Calista, what’s the matter?”

    “N-nothing.” I stammered out.

“Sweetie don’t lie to me.” He warned holding out a towel for me to take. Wrapping the towel around myself I opened the curtain and was greeted by Alex’s worried face.

“I’m just worried is all, that something is going to happen to you.” I said honestly. Sighing he embraced me in a hug holding me close and at that point I couldn’t hold the tears in any longer. I couldn’t lose him, any of them. They were my family now.

“Shh I promise nothing is going to happen to me.” He said whispering comforting words. “I promise nothing is going to happen to me.” He whispered a final time almost to reassure himself.  Hiding my face in the nook of his neck I breathed in his sent, campfire and cinnamon. Smiling briefly at the familiar scent of my soul mate I took comfort in it. I let the smell envelope me calming me down long enough to look into his mystic blue eyes.

“I love you.” I said threw tear misted eyes. He did one of the most sweetest things, he kissed my nose, then my cheek, then my forehead and finally my lips. Caressing my face he looked deep into my eyes and whispered.

    “I love you too.”
