    Chapter nineteen

        Alexander’s P.O.V

That bastard, how dare he threaten her! A growl ripped through my chest while my family tried to calm me down. All I saw was red, all I wanted was blood, his blood. He would pay, and if he so much as lays a hand on her I will make sure his death is slow and painful. Calista will have to start training, to use her powers and to fight. I will also have to talk to my father about the law, I was afraid that because she was half human the law would apply to her. As far as everyone knew it did not but my father was still checking on it, and if we have to get it changed then the whole counsel would have to agree. Sighing I thought I will have Brandon teach her how to fight, he is one of the best fighters I know. My Mother will teach her to use her magic as she studied Fae magic for seven years. Shrugging them off of me I ran into the woods needing time to think, and to cool off before I hurt someone.

    Calista P.O.V

Alex did not come back until early morning the next day, I lied awake in bed worried something had happened to him. By the time he waltzed in the sun was just starting to rise, he was covered in blood, we did not say a word to one another, he went to get cleaned up before lying next to me. We just looked in each others eyes knowing exactly what the other was thinking. We didn’t want to lose one another. We finally fell asleep clinging to each other as the sun shone brightly through the curtains.

We did not get up until dinner time that day. Amelia had informed me that after dinner we would start learning how to use my powers, and that tomorrow Brandon, Lilly’s boyfriend would arrive and teach me how to fight in hand to hand combat. I was eager to learn but also afraid that this meant that I was in trouble. We ate dinner in an awkward silence no one daring to say a word afraid it would cause conflict. This silence caused dinner to go by rather fast. I couldn’t help but shake the feeling that everyone knew something I did not, but I could just be paranoid. Alex would never keep anything from me again, not after what happened last time.

“Calista you ready dear?” Amelia’s voice cut through the silence like a knife. Nodding my head Alex kissed my cheek before I followed her out of the room and just like that everyone started whispering in hushed tones. Walking out into the courtyard Amelia stood off to the side of one of the many targets that were lined up.

“Now, my son has informed me that you are an elemental, they control their powers with their emotions. When you're afraid or scared that triggers the power to control fire as you have already learned. When you are happy that will allow you to control the plans and heal living things. When you are sad you will be able to control water. All in all you will eventually be able to control your powers without any specific emotion, you will be able to just will what you would wish to happen to happen and it will.” Nodding I took in all the new information. “Now today I would like to try to perfect your ability to control fire. You will, will these targets to catch on fire. Understood?” Nodding my head again only this time I was slightly afraid. Closing my eyes I imagined the target, I thought of the night my father had locked Alex in the basement, how he wanted to kill him. Instantly I felt a sudden rush of warmth flow through me, looking up I saw I had created a circle of fire. Well that is not what I had wanted to happen! Amelia’s face was the picture of pure shock, trying to think of something sad I willed water to fall on the fire instantly it started to downpour. My wings drooped as the water droplets touched them. As soon as the fire was put out the rain disappeared as suddenly as it came.

“Opps.” Was all I could say, turning around I saw that I had an audience watching. Everyone had came from inside the house when they saw the fire.

“Well, at least we know you can start and put out fires. We will work on accuracy later. I will go call the gardener.” She said as she picked up her soaking wet dress from the ground and walked into the house. My brown hair was plastered to my face and my dress was covered in mud. Laughing I looked at everyone shocked faces as I walked towards them. Well I thought, this will be interesting.
