    Chapter fourteen

Alexander’s P.O.V.

Standing in a room with Amir was one of the most dreadful things I have ever had to do. Slowly tying my tie looking into the mirror I could see the smirk on his face, resisting the urge to wipe it off in a manor that would most definitely hurt,  I attempted hiding a laugh as that thought crossed my mind  as I walked out of the room. Only an hour and then I can leave this hell hole.

    Calista P.O.V

Sitting in the chair I began to grow restless I was not allowed to see the dress or my hair or anything until Aurora was done.  `

“Will you at least give me a hint?” I wined. Laughing she remained quiet I assume because she didn’t want to accidentally reveal anything.

“Will you at least talk to me?” I questioned.

“Yes, how about you explain to me how you got cheesecake on your dress?” she inquired with a gentle eye brow raise. Laughing I looked to the ground.

“Don’t blame me! It was his fault! Well he did start it, haha I just continued it by throwing it at his face.” Both of us were laughing at that point, knowing how utterly ridiculous it sounded. After that talking became easy, we talked about everything and anything as she was finishing my hair and makeup.

A few hours later I was standing in front of a mirror with my eyes closed, I was not allowed to look until she put on the last touch. I couldn’t help but giggle about how cliché this all was. A fairy princess it was just a funny thought, after all what little girl doesn’t dream of being a princess, but then again what little girl dreams of being kidnapped by her fiancée. Chuckling lightly I finally opened my eyes. It took a few moments to process that, that girl in the mirror looking back at me was me. Her hair fell in perfect curls down to her waist, lilacs and pink roses woven into her hair. The dress was the color of a pale pink rose, that ruffled down past my hips. It was strapless as well as backless. My eyes stood out as a shocking pale green, making my skin look translucent. Lastly a tiara rested on top of the soft curls on my head. I looked every bit of a princess.

Standing at the top of the stairs I waited to be called down. Apparently I would be called out by title as well as my date who would accompany me after I got down the final stair step, but the whole way down the stairs I was alone. Gulping I heard my name, as I made my way down the steps I expected to see Alex waiting for me, but instead Amir stood with his arm out ready for me to take it. Where was Alex? Did he really just leave me here? Plastering a smile on my face I took his arm as he lead me out to the dance floor. The first dance was for the royals only. Looking around the sea of faceless strangers I hoped to see Alex but I could not spot him. The first dance started and everyone watched my father, brother, and I dance with our dates. The room was beautiful. It was all gold walls with a marble floor, light from the moon flooded in from the windows, twinkling lights hung from the walls creating a romantic glow, that would have been perfect if Alex was here to share it with me. Looking up at Amir I smiled a little and asked, “You wouldn’t happen to know where Alex is would you?” I questioned lightly.

“That my dear is a question I would not be able to answer. My guess is he up and bailed.” Leaning close to my ear he said, “Maybe your father finally knocked some sense into him. You're not meant to be with a vampire, you're meant to be with someone of your own kind.” I could see the smirk behind his eyes, that’s when it finally clicked, my father set this up. Most likely in hopes that he would scare him off. Putting on a brave face I replied, “ Well it would be incredibly rude to leave your fiancée the day you propose now wouldn’t it?” Clearly taken back what I said he jerked away just the slightest bit, but enough for me to know my statement had the desired outcome. Finally the song ended and my brother came to take Amir’s place as my dance partner.

“Hello sister. You look lovely this evening.” He said with a smile.

“Hello Gabriel, you look handsome as well. You wouldn’t happen to know where Alex is would you?”

“No not a clue, but I would forget about him if I was you, vampires are not the type to stick around.” Nodding the rest of the dance was spent in silence.

A few hours later Alex had still not had shown. After this dance I had decided to leave and go find him, after the song ended I smiled to my dance partner said my goodbyes quickly sneaking out of the room.

Walking out into the cool night air I looked to the far side of the east wing and started to walk in that direction.

“What are you doing out here all by yourself princess?” Startled from the unexpected voice I looked around to see Amir. Holding my hand to my chest in attempt to still my racing heart I took a deep breath.

“You scared the living daylights out of me.” I admitted.

“My apologies, you really shouldn’t be out here on your own, someone might try to take advantage of you.” He stated with a smirk.

“I’m sure no one would do such a thing, now If you would excuse me I have to go do something.”

“I wouldn’t be so sure princess, I know plenty of people who would take advantage of such a lovely woman like you.” With every word he said he slowly moved closer to me like a predator stalking its prey. With every move he made I became more uneasy by the second.

“I’m sorry I really must be going.” I said turning around to leave.

“ As you wish, I can promise you that I will see you again. I don’t give up as easily as you think.” My skin shivered at the comment, his breath warm on my neck. Running to the east wing I hoped that Alex would be there in our room.

A few moments later I was running up the marble stairs when I heard a muffled yell.

“Alex?” I screamed running in that direction.

“Calista?” A muffled voice called back,  running to a huge wooden door I tried to open it, but it was locked. Running back I grabbed a candle holder and smashed the lock until it broke. Sprinting down the cold cement stairs, I stood dead in my tracks at the view I saw. Tears claimed my green eyes as anger slowly bubbled inside of me. This was the last straw I vowed.  Rushing to his side I carefully removed the wooden stakes that were in his body. Untying the chains as quickly as possible  I hugged him gently my hands rubbing his arms as if to assure myself he was here and he was safe, for now at least.

“Who did this?” I asked through gritted teeth .

“Well I will give you one guess. But his name starts with an A, A for as whole.” He said as I unhooked the last of the chains. Falling to the ground I quickly knelt next to him.

“Uh, oh god I’m sorry, I’m so sorry this is all my fault”

“Calista, we have to leave okay? Take a deep breath help me up and lets get the hell out of here.” Nodding quickly I gently helped him up. Walking as fast as we could we ran out of the place.

“Now where do you two think you're going?” My father said with a smirk on his face standing at the top of the stairs.

    “Were leaving.”

“Now sweetie he can leave but you cannot leave. I’m proud actually I thought it would take you longer to find your beast. Now be a good little princess and go back too your room.”

    “Like hell I will.”

“Awe too bad looks like we're going to have to do this the hard way.” As soon as he said that a pair of arms threw me over there shoulder as my father went after Alex. Alex was still in no shape to fight with the effects of the wood still in his system my father could easily kill him.

“You get the hell away from him!” I shrieked and he suddenly caught on fire.

“Oh my god.” Said the guy who was holding me back, dropping me on the floor he quickly backed up. “She-she-your-your, that’s impossible! You can't be!” Taking his hysteria as a chance to run away I helped Alex up as we ran into the woods.
